I'm disappointed in There for Tomorrow's new "mature" direction, especially with songs like this. They were great on their There for Tomorrow-EP and the A Little Faster album. It's just unfortunate that they followed it up with a mediocre release.

@lostpuppy997 Actually, I'm not a fan of Nickelback. I usually listen to groups like Run Kid Run, August Burns Red, Red, and Fireflight.

I guess part of the reason I was disappointed is it just seemed like this song (and a number of others on the new album) were just typical attempts at "let's go mature by writing about drugs and one-night stands!", which to me is a very silly idea. And Maika's voice was very shaky at times, as if they were trying to go all rough 'n scratchy to sound "tough".

@Interestingenough4 I just wanna say that the members in TFT are older and have matured as people and so has their music. As for Maika's voice this is the best I have ever heard it live and in the studio. With the whole ""let's go mature by writing about drugs and one-night stands" you should really take the time to look up some interviews with the band talking about The Verge because what they did with this album is not a case of silliness or an act of toughness.

Forgive me, I jumped to conclusions way too soon. I thought "The Joyride" was your typical Nickelback-style one-night stand silliness and partying song, but I heard that it's really about their fans supporting them on their journey.

My mistake. They still are writing mostly clean and meaningful lyrics. I'll give the album another chance.
