It seems hypocritical for avowed Feminists to endorse marriage, and in the case of the first Feminist in the video, with a Conservative no less. The clarion call of Feminism early on was that marriage for women was akin to slavery, which is something the aforementioned Feminist alluded to when she mentioned not being willing to take her husband's surname as her own.
I'll save you four minutes of video, immigrate to somewhere wwhere their is not a bloody gender war/sex based power struggle going on and hook up with some one who you click with.
On sir names. Just be sure to think it out fully. Unintended problems can arise.
Example(s): What name the kids take suddenly becomes an issue.
Problems when traveling.
Problems with schools.
Problems with unified accounts.
Family politics- just because she/he was okay with it does not mean her/his family will be.("I'm not marrying his/her family", well your not losing yours either.)
I would rather take her last name then the above.
Combining names: Miller and a Peltsons became Millsons.
when you get married you both give up rights. a girl still has her name it's just easier to have one name on contracts. My wife still has her maiden name if you know what i mean, it all balances out
I agree with all of this, expecially the part about the name change when you get married, it was nice to hear someone else feels the same way about that and I'm not just crazy! Because thats what my bf told me and if when we get married I dont change my name that is an "insult" to him and his family. Like what? I think its a insult I wont be able to keep the name I was born with and keep my family name always as I care for them more obviously then I care for his. I'm sticking with this now!
Great video. :) I've always said that feminists have more orgasms... after all, equal rights means equal respect means equal orgasms! Ha ha. There are lots of great guys out there who are open and understanding, so my best advice is to never scold and to be patient with a nice guy who is new to the concept of gender equal relationships. My wonderful boyfriend of four years came to understand and accomodate my views of dating with gentle explaining and an avoidance of judgement on my part.
