  • He's not my favorite drummer, but I've never seen someone look more comfortable behind a drum kit.

  • omggg fucking amazing toms man

  • Comment removed

  • That kit sounds beautiful. He is a very good drummer too.

  • I could watch this man play for hours.

  • I've always been a big fan of the way he plays and the great sounds out of the luds

  • Oh and PS....Remember when you get older.....the stripper doesn''t 'like' you.

  • If you don't appreciate JMac, and your a drummer, don't even try his lessons......stay with TOOL ,huge drumsets and such. Just don't get on the kit in the music store, please! Double Bass singles are not hard; nor are fills of 32nd notes; nor is a fast metal beat.....no one needs to hear that when their trying to talk with a salesperson.

  • @MrBrentR Not quite sure why you picked Tool, Danny is a great drummer.

    :/

  • @MrBrentR as someone else said, Danny Carey is an awesome drummer who doesn't deserve to be pigeon-holed as a typical metal drummer like you're trying to imply. Also, don't try to say metal drummers can only play double bass and "fast metal beats". I don't particularly like metal in general but I know a lot of metal drummers are versatile. Don't pick on a drummer you clearly have no idea about because you come across as ignorant.

  • im sorry but i think its kinda boring. his groove is not extreme or awesome or something. his fills are not like: waauw. but yeah is he very chill and calm. and he should use the twenty series..

  • @teundrumhead The drums aren't about that. Flashy speed playing? Extremely complicated grooves? In my opinion, he epitomizes what the drums r about. He can be extremely tasteful (check out is work with death cab for cutie) and he always takes interesting approaches at grooves that would otherwise be pretty simple. He's not always a lead player, but he can be amazing (pity and fear- dcfc) and skilled when necessary. he takes his place as a solid rhythm player, and u would do well to follow suit.

  • @hiphopsucks96 You've got it straight. I wrote off Death Cab as emo trash until McGerr joined the group. To paraphrase something Phil Collins once said, the drummer is like the goal keeper of the group. If you have a good group with a bad drummer, you have a bad group. If you have a mediocre group with a good drummer, you have a good group. McGerr definitely exemplifies that idea, and Ben Gibbard and Chris Walla's poetry become more accessible because of it.

  • @thescowlingschnauzer their old drummer had some pretty good work too. Jason's better, cuz he's more seasoned, but they both did great jobs of making the drums sound like a completely different instrument. Their approaches to drumming were interesting- they, like the rest of the group, helped bring out Ben's singing, like u said. They stood out, but just because they were so rounded and fitting. dcfc is the first band that I haven't ever considered how I would change the drumming, if I could.

  • Wow if you don't bob your head at 3:21 then somethings wrong with you. That beat is great. Then 5:34 on he just kills it. Not with amazing speed but with just killer sound and groove. Very musical with his kit.

  • I first worked with Jason at a battle of the bands in '94 when he was in Krusters. He was amazing then. Chops and hands like you wouldn't believe. We later did some studio work together. He is still as humble and a gentleman in every way, and he is truly a drummer with Steve Jordan's sense of groove, and Vinnie Coliuta's sense of time. You'll not find many drummers with Jason's sense of tonality either. No one ever made my red sparkle Gretsch kit sound better! Thanks Jason! I'm Smiling!

  • I think I would rather listen to Jason than someone who just does double bass and stick tricks all day.

  • I'd love myself a Jason Mcgerr drum dvd. Even his simple beats are great. One of my favorite drummers.

  • wicked rummer!

John Fisher also teaches Daniel Adair

  • Jason is so inspiring and calm... So creative and interesting... Him and Chris Walla are my faves from Death Cab

  • an absolute legend, very musical drummer. really plays brilliantly

  • he is an amazing drummer, his playing is very smooth,

  • this fucker is one creative fucker.i only wished i could play like him.

  • what kind of practice kit is that?

  • Not the flashiest drummer, but his playing is just so interesting to listen to.

  • @MadOldMan i think his showing off is in his work, no two death cab drum beats sound remotely alike.

  • his nephew is my best friend

  • then your best friend is my best friend now

  • is he talking about the classic drum solos and drum battles dvd?

  • those cymbals look and sound so nice

  • mad video, haha i actually have that classic drum solos dvd he was talking about, it's awesome
