If any book ever deserved to be made into a movie several times, this is it:

First as an disappointing low-budget mess that seems to have been the weekend project for some unpopular students;

Then later on the sci-fi channel with Dean Cain and worse than previous film despite none of this one having been filmed with a cell phone.

And FINALLY! as a high-budget Hollywood blockbuster film's title (otherwise unrelated).
