She really should have been a multiple world champion and Olympic gold medalist by now....I love Sasha's skating so much, but that inconsistency is just...killer on fans sometimes. She's the Kim Clijsters of figure skating...so much potential and talent but for some odd reason, she gets beaten out because of her own (seemingly unwarranted) self doubt
Not the most original music (hehe), but she makes it her own. I love how she jumps into the double axle. I will say that I don't think her inconsistency is about nerves, b/c that would create a stiffness (aka Maria B, for example). I think she often has shallow edges, and it lends itself to some mistakes. If Sasha, with her brilliant positions, had had the consistency and flawlessness of someone like a Kwan, she'd be .. well, probably the greatest of all time.
It's refreshing to see such a young, fluent skater take charge of her ice, it's a beautiful thing. Sasha seems to bring such livelyness to the ice, I absolutely adore her!
this is a beautiful perormance by sasha. I love her 3/3... it was a little tow footed, but great to see. Sasha NEVER pops jumps, so that was wierd for her but really stunning. each time i her her carmen she has changed it!
She is wonderful. I love her interpretion of Carmen. Perfect! Yeah, there was some jump problems, but who cares....she sold it! I was impressed :) ~KJ
I think it's more of a psychological problem, not technical, because technicaly she's impecable, she's brilliant, just perfect! I don't care if she falls, she allways takes my breath away when she skates, but the bad thing is that her falls affect her grades and take her golds away. :(
Psychological problem? DO you even know her? I don't agree with your statement. She doesn't have any psychological problem that could affect her skating. I think it's her preconditioning that might have some affect on her consistency.
Might I suggest you be extremely careful on how or where you direct your comments to liriub? Your lurid comments is way too insulting and before you really have any clue to how or what I see about Sasha, might I suggest you do not take my comments on her way too seriously. Its after when I saw how insulting you were on other figure skaters when I felt that you were not too rational enough.
they say its something that has to do with her rotation in the air...when she falls, she always over rotates. now whether that is because of something mental or not. idk. she should go to a figure skater whisperer. LOL. like they have a dog whisperer
@liriub: I do think that Sasha's falls effect more than just her marks. They break the spell of her brilliant lines and artistic interpretation. If she had been able to combine consistency with her incredible talent, we'd have had two legends (along with Kwan) come out of US skating which would have been cool. Regardless, she is truly talented and to be admired, it's sad though that she didn't reach her potential, b/c I have always loved her skating.

Sasha rarely pops her jumps but she goes down hard instead. She has great talent but nerves often get to her.

does ANYONE have the video of her carmen from Grand Prix Finals! I think, even though it has mistakes, its the best interpretation!

You are right! I hadn't realized that there are no videos from her 2002 Worlds. Videos, anyone?
