@solidus927 I agree. there's just something about the SNES sound that somehow manages to be more soulful and touching than anything modern technology can create.
I dunno... this version evokes quite a lot of emotions too... I guess with the "strings," and maybe not so much with the part where there are normally vocals in the Chrono Cross version, but still, this is amazing :)
i like this one better than the chrono cross music.. there are quite a few radical dreamers songs i like better. this one, gale, and dream shore to an extent. :D this is wonderful, especially when you consider the music wasnt simply recorded and pasted in!
Wow, I thought I was the only one! :D Also, while the other Chrono games might be better, I love the atmosphere in this one a lot more. It was just so... mysterious. I really liked that.
@piccplaya I don't get what you mean. Are you saying you dislike the Cross version because it's a recording? Or are you saying the Cross versions are unoriginal?
Sorry guys, I've been so out of touch with my fabled Japanese gaming history for a couple of years now (Been so busy trying to establish my life, pushing through work and paying bills). However, the music and the thematics of Japan's (Square's, Capcom's, Konami's, Atlus', etc.) greatest games have and will never leave my mind and my heart.
*Sighs* I can sense familiars nuances of musical pieces derived from Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and Xenogears. Well, the songs from Radical Dreamers and the other games mentioned do come from the same composer after all: Yasunori Mitsuda.
I know the name of the song from Chrono Cross but I never heard of the Square game of the same name. What's it about and how does it relate to the Chrono games?
@JonathanFerGold It has been released before Chrono Cross (obviousely), but it's a part of Chrono Cross' scenario, when you make it to the castle to steal the crystal (I can't remember clearer thant that, sorry), and you've got the same character as in Chrono Cross. It was released as an "Add-on" of Chrono Trigger in Japan, as a downloadable content with the "Sattelaview" device (only released in Japan). Sorry if i'm not very clear.
I also have to say I like this version of the song better. I don't like that weird singing in the other one. I think it's better to have it instrumented. It even works well when it's remixed for the game over screen.
I have to disagree. I saw the game and actually liked it more than the other Chrono games. It has a very deep story to it. I just wish it was longer, and it seems like it should be on the PC instead, that's all.
Is that why Kid was all talking about that at the end for some strange reason saying "I'll show you what radical dreamers is all about!". I didn't know that was a reference to another game.
This is a really good song. Why does the best stuff stay only in Japan?
Wow, kinda surprising that with 934 songs you haven't done the song "Radical Dreamers - Unstealable Jewel", yet. Not that you need to, just surprising considering how many Chrono series songs have been done.
@0B3L15koLi9hT Um... no, it's not. I'm referring to the part that starts at 1:06 in the Chrono Cross version. I'm not referring to Radical Dreamers at all.
Everybody who likes Chrono Cross should know ABOUT this game and its relation to CC.... but not necessarily have played it. Like Supra said: mostly forgettable.
It's interesting to see the development of this song, as it reappears in Chrono Cross. A lot of the songs and story for Chrono Cross were seen in beta version in Radical Dreamers. This makes it a really interesting game, but only if you're a hardcore Chrono fanboy (there's a translation patch). Otherwise, it's pretty forgettable.
@GodTangrowth Yeah. I thought Frozen Flame from RD was a direct port, but it's not. The CC port has an oboe as the lead instrument, the bass more complex, and there are some slight chnages in the piano.
This game was only released in Japan. It's basically a text-adventure game on the SNES from the Chrono series, which is why some themes like this one reappeared in Chrono Cross. I finished it a couple years ago and it was interesting but mostly forgettable.
@SupraDarky I'll give that this wasn't as good as the other two, but it does have plenty of good points you have to wonder why they dropped in Cross. The characterization was much better for the majority of the characters, Magus was in RD(he was planned for Cross, but dropped toward the end of development), and the connections to Trigger were much stronger. Even if not very successful, it'd be nice if we could get some form of Radical Dreamers anywhere outside of Japan.
@SupraDarky Actually, it's the 'prequel'/'prototype' of Chrono Cross, although some parts of it are canon, some parts have been re-introduced to the remade/rereleased chrono trigger, and some parts are still questioned about in terms of canon....
Thank you for posting the real version.

Am I the only one who feels that this version of star stealing girl is a bit more happier, and the Cross version seems a bit more sad?
