  • i have a different vierson where the speakers are on the bottom but ive had it for a few years and had more problems then i can count. i ger error messages almost each day its very slow, and it still is slow when i try and run some small stuff on .

i dont really recomend this. invest more money into something like a dell, toshiba, sony, or gateway

  • i perfer windows not linxs

  • WOW how old is this movie! you can get a little bigger HP for like 300 and it runs vista!

  • i hate vista

  • I Have That Laptop... :D

    Works Amazingg! :) X

  • I got one that runs on Xp, 9 inch and for a 100 dollars. No lies.

  • *senyroku* HOW!

  • How or where? Or do u have a website i could go to? I would really like to find it Thanks!

  • install WinXP on it to make it more usable! The preinstalled Xandros is crap.

  • its smaller cheaper and has more usb ports then the macbook air and it has linux I WANT IT lol

  • Can you use The Webcam with Messenger? Please Reply!

  • i'm gonna get this

  • besure you get a external hard drive

  • apple should of made something like this with a cut down version of OSX instead of the macbook air

    anyone else agree?

  • Steve Jobs would tell you to just Get an iPhone and an Air and you'd have all you need...

I don't think Apple needs to pair down its stuff to make a mini-notebook, I think ASUS and MSI need to ship with a full version of Linux instead

  • you can put a full version of ubuntu on it but you need to put it on an SD card or use a usb cd reader

  • "I think ASUS and MSI need to ship with a full version of Linux instead"

I have one, I'm a linux user and I think xandros did a great job with the OS. I've added a couple of programs from the debian repos and had no problem installing them. I see no reason to install a full-featured distribution on it. I tried ubuntu and a couple of the eee-remasters of other distributions, and I still think xandros is the winner considering boot-time and ease of use.

  • Does the eee pc' card reader support SDHC cards? I'm planning to buy an 8gig class 2 SDHC card for my eee.

Help please. Someone reliable answer my question. Thank you.

  • it does, or at least that's what a different youtube video said.

  • You can also attach a small sized external HD.

  • Lol at "Ay-sou-sce"

  • ppl put 8gb sd so its 16 gb if u gt the 8gig and a sd lol ive got a pc wiv a 200gb space and i only used 7gb in a 2 yrs and i like to download so lol this is perfect

  • That was almost a sentence.

  • hahahahaha nice one!!

  • You can run WinXP on it (as the CD that comes with it has the drivers for XP). Great for college & cheap to boot!

  • What I don't get is if they can make a 80gig Ipod or a 80gig mp3 player which is 8 times smaller, why can't they make the EEE have more than 4gigs? It would have really been a bargain if it came with atleast a 30gig HD. But for 400 bucks...you can get a regular laptop that does more. Just load Linux, all software for linux is free anyways.

  • because it is supposed to be cheap. True that for that price you can get more powerful notebooks but are they that small? no, this is an ultraportable notebook and most of the notebook in that class are bloody expensive, true that there is only 4g to boot but you can always expand that with a 16gb sd card if you want.

  • dude its because of the type of storage and the mobility factor. They advertise solid state hard drives because that means if u drop it it wont break easily. Flash memory costs a lot more than hard drives. And with a smaller size it will boot fsater and be all around faster

  • Someone is going to receive a cookie for being mega smart :D

  • YAH I LIKE CHOCOLATE CHIPPY ONES

  • please be honest (no biased opinions plz),

would you say that this would be an okay laptop to use for college? i mean, just for typing reports and taking notes during class? using the web?

and for those of you that own one, does the small keypad really hamper your wpm rate?

    thanks alot!

  • yes its small and easy to use

    has free software

has free office programs as good as Microsoft office

and if you need to run windows programs just run wine program

  • all laptops are good i my self have a apple book pro but this is good (ASUS Eee PC) it looks good for taking your work mobile i should know i take every thing mobile i would say get

  • for typing big reports i think a fullsize laptop keyboard would be easyer

  • For taking notes, the keyboard should be fine, but I'd recommend an external keyboard if you're going to type a report or something.

  • for what u are saying u would use it for, it should be fine. thats what i would us it for. the keyboard is noticably smaller, but once u get used to it its alright.i would however check one out before buying it,just to make sure.its also good for its solid state hard drive. if u drop it, it wont break easily. there arnet any moving parts in these, so thats why they r so apealing. however, buy an external hd and a few flash drives to convert stuff to other computers if neccesary.

    hope this helped.

  • thanx

  • like like what i am seeing ans altra portable laptop.the only thing is that is only a 7" screen apparently asus are going to bring out the same lap top but with a bigger 10" screen some time in 2008 but asus denied this and said that the havent had on doing this yet i think they are said that because the dont want to loose sales on the 7" moddel

  • wow ive got 1 hope for xmas

  • The card reader don't read memory stick!!

  • Don't forget to mention that you can put a 8GB SD card in it so in stead of 4GB you will have 12GB. Also you can take out the 512RAM and pop in a 1GIG or even 2GIGS DDR.

XP runs also on this little baby. Highly modifiable.

  • it only takes 2 gigs when running on windows. also its SoDIMM DDR2 667Hz.

  • Yep, you got that right mate.

  • yyea ur right but they do have a 8 gig version soooooooooooooooo u no

  • Really? 12GB?

  • Finally, pc mag did a review. I am getting a job to buy one of these
