You can feel the electricity between them the whole dance, but especially at 3:14 and Emma's expression at 3:20 is touching like she's finally realizing real love. Love this scene. Love the music.
LOL I commented on another page that Frank and Jane were giving their "secret looks" during that dance scene. No they aren't dance partners per se but right behind Knightley and Emma there they are giving each other a quick smile. Brilliantly done.
When she says "Your secret is out" you can see his face freeze, like he's thinking, "Oh, God, she knows." And then she says he dances well and he relaxes. The acting in this is fantastic.
I just noticed that while we watch Emma and Knightley fall in love, Jane Fairfax is rapturously dancing in the background with none other then Churchill. And if Emma had any wits about her (Oh dear, what Knightley does to her) she would be in no doubt of their attachment.
@eccenticitee Frank and Jane aren't actually dancing together. At the very beginning, you can see that Frank is the third man down the line and Jane is the second woman, and then at the end of the dance Frank is next to Mr. Knightly but the woman next to Emma isn't Jane (she's wearing the wrong color dress). But yes, Emma is pretty much oblivious to everything and completely absorbed with Knightly.
@gerbil4you Yes, I noticed that after I commented, but thank you :) I thought about correcting myself and decided to let people think me an idiot. Haha!
Omg, Mr Knightley's face throughout that whole scene! You can tell how much he loves Emma; he can barely concentrate on their dance. Such a beautiful scene. I love that song!
@AugustineEmmeline That's preciseley why I like this version the best: There are some details in the actors and the rest that help in creating a wonderful mood!
@DarkOrMisunderstood I know, I also like this version because of that! But I think the actors in the 1996 version were more fitted for the parts. They just look more like the characters I had in my mind when I read the book. But, it's just my mind :)
@sun1010smile Actually Garai fits both in looks and in personality for me : D
And... I always thought thatt Mr Knightley would be overly-handsome and young-looking(as he is described) and I must say, Miller is handsome indeed ;)
You maybe are right though, but the american production did not fully satisfy me... Also, Harriet HERE is much more of a "Harriet" don't you think? But maybe that's just my opinnion again
I freaking loved this version.
