i listening to a lots of black and doom metal bands like Marduk,Gorgoroth etc.But this.....this is something very different this more than just music, this is my Bible i fucking love this song since the first time i heard it at my friend's funeral.
Whenever I listen to Darkestrah, I picture Temur and the warlords of Samarkand riding across the steppes to conquer yet another barbarian city. (even though Samarkand is now in Uzbekistan, Temur's territory included much of Kyrgyzstan)
@rozennightshade I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who recognize them. I know Pharaoh's music by heart, so it has been difficult for me to enjoy this song on it's own. Still, it's ok, I guess
+ Satanas(sp) of Demonic Christ will ALWAYS be my most favored female Black Metal musician.....however, Kriegtalith is brutalizing my eardrums currently.....
also, The Archives currently list Darkestrah as "Epic Black Metal with Folk Influences". I wonder if they've changed their themes up, Sir Windir?? +
they have opened me up to a whole new south eastern style. i guess that german, swedish, and greek arent the only styles of black metal worth listening to anymore.
I'm always amazed about how skilled they build up their songs, it is part monotone, part melodic..just right and the different rhythms and sounds throughout give it a very special character.
@SancharKhan in detail, explain how this is black folk metal. and i really don't give a shit what those know-nothings at metal-archives refer to this as. I refuse to give this band a folk labeling based solely on the absence of clean vocals of any kind. Regardless of this band's song titles they're not a full-fledged folk/metal band. There are far more factors that are required to be met before this band fills that classification that all you internet musical theologians cling to.
@PhilKay You talking about their lyrics... So can i ask a question about Sky Tengri? Do you know him? It's Turkic only and Sky god... And this band's all songs are about that Turkic mythologies, Turkish Bravery and history. Could you say me what are these if they are not folk metal? I don't fucking care about what metal-archieves explain them. I even don't look at it. But this is it. I'm a huge folk metal fan and Turkish. And this band is a Turkic band. So I'm interesting it.
@SancharKhan IMO, lyrical themes alone cannot dictate the genre classification of any band. If you let lyrical themes alone decide a band's genre then every band is just a massive mish-mash of genres. And it's VERY clear that Megadeth's Five Magics is not a folk-metal song despite heavily revolving around a fantasy/sci-fi driven lyrical framework.
yeah, I know that they work in Germany, and I also know that they're originally from Kyrgyzstan. Which doesn't change the fact that in Germany no one sells Darkestrah's music. -.-
Crappy vocals :/
