@UrbanLikwid move the 1 beat. start the cued track on beat 1, doesnt matter about lead ins.

its all about how you use it. if you are just going to play tracks then dont use it.

ableton / traktor etc are all about using the time you would spend beatmatching and mixing to be creative with other features.

Hi guys! I am starting with Ableton, and I want to know how important is a Good Sound Card to do a Live Session (without any extern instruments / MIDI / pLUGINS) is Ableton?? Could I do a live session with my default Asus M51sound card? Shoud I buy an external sound card as MOTU or M-Audio - Fast Track Ultra????

I just got a akai midi controller. It came with live lite. Can I do live mixing with this program? When I drop a file into ableton it just give me the no uturn/no smoking symbol.

yes you can, and you have to drag the file into a channel for it to be processed by live.... send me a message if u need help in further detail.

it doesn't work with the free software you get with the controller. I got the real version and worked. However, sometimes it won't keep beats in sync. Freakn' trainwreck shite I can't control.

the reason the beats aren't kept in sync is because you have to warp the tracks so they stay in time with themselves. and not off of the master tempo....just search on youtube "warping in ableton" and you should be able to find plenty of tutorials showing you how ;) ... i'd love to hear some of your mixes tho, maybe i can give you some tips, do u have a myspace or anything :)?

I always use the "CD Mastering" setting on Final Plug 5 on the Master Channel. You will never ever have to worry about your levels going red or for that matter sounding too low.

Traktor is only valid for Final Scratch, and not for produce.

Ableton Live is Amazing and has every tools do you want.

In order, you can add VST Plugins, like Massive, Predator, V-Station or others.

You also can do Djing with the warp system and more effects...

You can do whatever you want with your live performance.

dude traktor is completely different than ableton, if you want a more traditional set up go ahead n use traktor but you cant deny, you can be so much more creative and do so many more things in ableton, i mean fuck you could produce a beat right on the spot and fuckin drop it! cant produce shit in traktor can you?

Live is much easier than Reason, but still worth a hell of a lot more, although Reason builds shit from scratch that I havent seen Live touch. Reason's sequencer is a catastrophe in my opinion. I never want to lay eyes on it again. Together, they rule.

Analog keyboards and guitar leave them both in the dust. You can get great drums out of Reason though, if you use your own samples.

Live is great, but I'm trying to find some decent repeaters like in Serato or Traktor, and I'm not finding it.

Have you spent time working with Ableton, it is pretty robust out the box. If you purchased Live 8 suite, you could lose your mind as well. DAWS are tools, its what's in your head and heart that makes music

I would imagine so. From what I've seen most people beatmap before hand to find the BPM of the tracks.  Then they'll group songs by the bpm ( color code ).
