Yeah, this sounds really good. I've heard so many people play this and it just sounded like they were hired to do so. Like they didn't "feel it". I find that to be a big problem with many recordings of Jehan Alain's organ music as well. But this is good. Sounds dramatic and intense, like my opinion says it should. :)
That was absolutely spectacular! It is obvious you were so completely immersed in the music. You would have to be to be able to play so beautifully, completely from memory! Truly wonderful.
Typical bloody Americans. They commission a fabulous organ and stick it in some cramped chamber in a dry-as-anything acoustic... Compare this with recordings made at St Paul's Cathedral, London, or the Atlantic City Convention Hall, and you realise just how crucial a generous acoustic is to the impact of a big Romantic organ, especially with Liszt's music.
Christopher, a concert organist friend told me you were very good. Now, having heard this, I concur. I hadn't heard a Glück before. I am very impressed. If you do a recital in Toronto, and I hear about it, I will be there!
@originaltommy - not sure, this isn't the best performance I've heard of this piece, I've heard a number that were better. I reckon Nathan Laube is worthy of your 'finest young virtuoso' title...
Christopher, you have succeeded in summoning from the bottomless pits of the near diving composition of Liszt's Adnos, the spirits, voices and epocoliptic radiance of hiscreative Wagnarian glory as he wove it into this mystical composition so few dare to play, and from memory. I will watch with great excitement your great artistry if available to me. You have a friend in me and I'll help you in any way I can. You are a fresh breeze in the arena of organ performance. David Snyder, Lumierist.
Hi Christopher. It's one of your new fans here in sunny So. Cal. Thanks for the video posting. It reminds me of your masterful playing of the work at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. BTW - I'm thoroughly enjoying your CD "Joys, Mournings, and Battles." Thanks again for an amazing recital experience.

@AnOrganCornucopia I get your point but it's refreshing to hear an organ that doesn't sound like it's coming from a cave for once.
