Yea, Acer is better. Full USB port for sixaxis controller Bluetooth pairing capability pretty much blows any other tab outta the water for gaming. Search my name for my vids.
I enjoy my a500 over my friends galaxy tab. The USB port is one of the main reasons why I bought it! I cant hook up a hub, connect a wireless mouse, put my external hard drive in it, use my bluetooth keyboard!
@chrisgangsta I returned it and got the Xoom instead. much better , and it automatically updated to 4.0 . not sure if Samsung is pushing the update but moto sure is .
@jinojjohn I went over the screen and memory card. I also do think a screen with 16 MILLION colors is worth $100 because 256 thousand vs 16 million is just pathetic. And you may need to pay attention no normal person will care about 16 million vs 256k. Its better just to explain it like a normal person would. I also did mention about the Acers Micro SD card slot.

Acer iconia is good, i used samsung galaxy, it's the same quality and an acer a500 where i live is 32gb for 400 dollars the same amount for any other 16gb honeycomb tablets, memorywise either pay 32gb for a 400 dollar acer iconia or a 16gb samsung galaxy for 400 dollars as well. or in easy words acer iconia = twice the memory for the same price
I'm a noon to the tablet world..will the Acer play Netflix? And can I do the wired tether from my evo4g to the Acer for internet? I know my phone can be a Wi-Fi hotspots but that costs extra..the tether is free
did you try turning down the brightness on the iconica because the actual backlight could be completely different even if it is in the same spot in the options
Both devices have their pros and cons.. The Iconia is slightly heavier than the Galaxy but also has a more durable feel to it.. however the screen of the Iconia will feel a bit cheaper than most.. "Like swiping your finger across a thick smooth slab of plastic".. (The screen is glass.) where as the Galaxy really captures that Glossy high quality glass screen we all look forward to.. other than that though.. the devices are relatively identical. and both are exceptional tablets.

if you are willing to lose some of the screen resolution for the standard USB (you can use it for external HDD or 3G modems or CardReaders or Keyboards ) and gain some weight plus 75 dollars less, go for the iconia .... other wise , go for the galaxy , simple and clear
samsung is definitely one of the best screens manufacturer in the world ... however , the comparison is pointless , because they comes with exactly the same specification (Processor , Ram , VGA and SSD) .... the lag and delay in the Iconia because of your mistake , the loading on the Youtube video was also your mistake because you didn't dedicated a specific speed for each tablet , so when the galaxy started , it took the whole bandwidth momentarily before the router responds to the iconia

@CheekyLeoGames If/when Acer Iconia updates there software its the company that determines what can be put on the device, but you could do a custom rom if you wanted to.

Not sure if anyone mentioned but this is an unfair comparison with the Iconia running the custom Transformer rom. This could be the reason for some of the lag. If your going to do a comparison do it with factory stock units.

I am in the market for a tablet; looking at the Galaxy because of the good reviews, but I travel to a country where the connectivity best suited is thru a wimax modem that uses a USB port; under the circumstances would the Iconia tablet be the better choice or is there any other now or near future (announced) that would be more appropriate. By the way, I want to use the tablet to trade the markets (stocks and FX), are there apps out there to do this; and how about OFFICE like applications

@TAYYKAYY01 I think you are referring to 3/4G cellular signals. No tablet let alone any regular computer can make it owns "Wi-Fi" network. You can get the iconia in a 3G variant, but the Galaxy Tab has a 4G variant which will prove drastically better speeds in a 4G area.

Ive been looking at various laptops and have checked out the Acer A500. One question i have is it possible to play Farmville on this? On any tablet for that matter?
Ive been looking online and cant find a definite answer one way or another on this.
@ZX2ManDave I would definitely not buy a tablet for use farmvillie, yes I suppose you could with Android tablets that have flash. The experience would be pretty horrible compared to a laptop though, because of the way Facebook accepts touchs in the desktop version of it.
I see. I really wasnt interested in buying one simply to play farmville on. I usually play it at home on my computer. Its just if im not home and have the tablet with me it would be nice to be able to log onto Facebook and check on some of the games i normally play such as Farmville and Social City-it wouldnt be a main tool for use on playing those games all the time though.
As long as i can do basics with it on Farmville thats all im concerned about.

It was not .00000007 oz thinner. And no, thinner tablets feel better in the hand than say the HP TouchPad. I was going to go for the Asus Transformer but then went for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for the weight and thinness. The Samsung feels so good in the hand while the Asus Transformer feels too bulky and heavy. IT DOES NOT BREAK YOUR ARM BUT IT'S STILL IMPORTANT BECAUSE WHY NOT BUY A THINNER AND LIGHTER TABLET IF THE DIFFERENCE IS SIGNIFICANT.

Apple actually buys stuff from Samsung for their products. thats why samsungs devices and ui's tend to look similar, because apple buys from them. so actually it could be considered the opposite. and thats based off fact not biased because i favor the Acer.
Those of you that want keyboards and other things that defeat the purpose of buying a tablet instead if a netbook, you all seem to be forgetting there are bluetooth keyboards out there. Also the galaxy has an adapter that connects to hdmi.
Had to go with the Acer. Tried both but what won me over is the fact that Galaxy does not have that many ways to connect to anything. Only thing that Galaxy had what Acer did not have was the internal 3G. With Acer I can go and buy 32GB microsd card and up the memory, or put usb-drives to it, or use usb mouse and keyboard (Even my BT diNovo Mini worked). Only downside with Acer is the REALLY short powercable.
I can't decide between two of those things. Those two(acer iconia tab & samsung tab 10.1) are the most hottest tablets on the planet my pick on this one. I got to go with the acer iconia tab

@StarZu93 As they do both have Tegra 2, the software optimization on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 are much better than the Acer Iconia so they have made the Galaxy faster.

Samsung does not support external upgradable memory card..Acer does
and also Samsung cost $100 more than the Acer.... so the slight increase in weight and thickness may not be a great concern for the price difference.

Ok,
Ive been looking at various laptops and have checked out the Acer A500. One question i have is it possible to play Farmville on this? On any tablet for that matter?
Ive been looking online and cant find a definite answer one way or another on this.

@ZX2ManDave I would definitely not buy a tablet for use farmvillie, yes I suppose you could with Android tablets that have flash. The experience would be pretty horrible compared to a laptop though, because of the way Facebook accepts touchs in the desktop version of it.

I see. I really wasnt interested in buying one simply to play farmville on. I usually play it at home on my computer. Its just if im not home and have the tablet with me it would be nice to be able to log onto Facebook and check on some of the games i normally play such as Farmville and Social City-it wouldnt be a main tool for use on playing those games all the time though.
As long as i can do basics with it on Farmville thats all im concerned about.

@ZX2ManDave Yeah, I would probably go with a smaller laptop for about $500 for Farmville then a tablet, they just aren't that good for games when you need to touch and drag stuff.

I have a legit question, why the FUCK is everything with tablets based on how thin it is, or how 1 weighs .00000007 oz than another, like seriously who the fuck cares? Is it going to break your arm cuz its a fraction of an ounce heavier? No, are you going to have to get a case the size of a backpack to carry it around cuz its 1cm thicker? No, that kinda crap makes me want to smack the shit out of people.

@strifeknight It really does when your holding them for period of time it can prevent you from wanting to use it as often (from what I've seen), I know it doesn't sound like much but in real world use it is.

It was not .00000007 oz thinner. And no, thinner tablets feel better in the hand than say the HP TouchPad. I was going to go for the Asus Transformer but then went for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for the weight and thinness. The Samsung feels so good in the hand while the Asus Transformer feels too bulky and heavy. IT DOES NOT BREAK YOUR ARM BUT IT'S STILL IMPORTANT BECAUSE WHY NOT BUY A THINNER AND LIGHTER TABLET IF THE DIFFERENCE IS SIGNIFICANT.

Apple actually buys stuff from Samsung for their products. thats why samsungs devices and ui's tend to look similar, because apple buys from them. so actually it could be considered the opposite. and thats based off fact not biased because i favor the Acer.

Those of you that want keyboards and other things that defeat the purpose of buying a tablet instead if a netbook, you all seem to be forgetting there are bluetooth keyboards out there. Also the galaxy has an adapter that connects to hdmi.

Had to go with the Acer. Tried both but what won me over is the fact that Galaxy does not have that many ways to connect to anything. Only thing that Galaxy had what Acer did not have was the internal 3G. With Acer I can go and buy 32GB microsd card and up the memory, or put usb-drives to it, or use usb mouse and keyboard (Even my BT diNovo Mini worked). Only downside with Acer is the REALLY short powercable.

@StarZu93 As they do both have Tegra 2, the software optimization on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 are much better than the Acer Iconia so they have made the Galaxy faster.
