Epic performance... I actually think the violin makes the sound better. These guys and white lies are probably the two best acts UK has produced in the past few years.
as stated every band has influences of who they consider to be special.the beatles thing has been done to death and only one band carried of the pastiche and it isn,t oasis. i,m very choosy when it comes to music it,s irrelevant that some of tom,s actions resemble the great ian curtis, doesn,t chris martin do something similar i love coldplay, editors for me write stronger stuff in my opinion and you can,t judge a great song by record sales.
Editors are influenced by Joy Division and by a couple of other bands as well. So what? They never made a secret out of it. There are many bands who try to be JD´s heirs. Editors are the first band being able to walk in their footsteps. The masterpiece Joy Division has created another masterpiece: Editors.
Why are you like say hes trying to be like Ian Curtis and Joy Division because when you lison to music you dont look at what hes doing and the critasize you lison to the music and then you can say something not what he dus on the stage.

I'm criticising the whole performance. How is that a problem? The singer sounds like Ian Curtis, the music sounds like Joy Division/New Order. The way he holds the microphone is very similar to how Ian Curtis held it. Getting away from those similarities the performance onstage was too scripted. Does that answer your question?
and what is so wrong with seems staged anyway? maybe he acts so much alike Ian Curtis' but we dont expects him to sing stand and stiff either. i went there show and the way of he jumping around made it more exciting for that moment i dont think any of audience there really care about him being staged or imitating Ian . He is very good performer.
It's just the fact that his voice and the music is clearly very similar to Ian Curtis and Joy Division - even down to the way he's holding the microphone with his hand/fingers rigid and stiff. The jumping around was only a problem because it was too obviously scripted. It's all a pre-planned act rather than him reacting to how he feels at the time.
yer. it hought the strings were a great idea to add to teh song. he looks quite nice in this one and i love it when he climbs on the piano. and teh little violin solo you hear on the second "oh come on now!"
The performance of this song on Jools Holland is much better. The bridge is far more haunting, although i will give him credit for crawling up on top of the piano. Pretty badass. PROBABLY my favorite song from the record, so i'm glad they released it as a single.
oh no! he cut his hair! i thought it was soo cute with the little curls! Well in the end its not about his hair offcourse, but it was to look at! and in 3 months i see them again yay!
People who dont like editors just dont listen, stop being a fucking ignorant and talk shit about a beautiful band.

I DO like violins [I studied], but those ones sounds a little bit... out of tune; or just because it's a live version.

Who are those guys giving ten points to the performance at the end and why do they think we care about their opinion?
LightsOfBohemia 1 year ago
Why have the violins? They don't need them and detract from Chris' guitar line!

not everyone with a low voice sounds like ian curtis. stop discussing that bullshit and talk about the performances of this great band!

so fucking what
the singer sounds like ian curtis
most of the shite around now like the view or whatever..they sound like a million not so brilliant bands
just coz editors are influenced by joy division isnt a bad thing
every band takes what they think are the best parts of there influences and incoreates it into there music

i'm not sure if the string's compliment this or not?? kinda drowns out the great tone of the rickenbacker, which isn't really on!
