  • Takes me back to the wonderful days of my youth in the 70s. I miss those days, life was so simple. They were happier times. We didnt have all the horrible chaos we have now in the world. no cell phones ,no home computers,4 channels on tv Yet we all connected to each other personally Only a few car companies. Ford Chrysler AMC GM + a few others.Who knew we lived in the absolute best time (70s) for music? So glad I grew up when I didi

  • hmmm which is better..this or lady ca ca?

  • @skontch1 DUH??? I'm not a fan of the new music, the old stuff is much much better.

  • it was in 1968

  • i am a women looking for help; with some great work for the city of our country. I wish that you would write to me so i can tell you how you can help. 407 291 9826.

  • This is a song that still to this day brings tears to my eyes because the words are just so touching and meaningful. Also because it is from a time in my life that a love I had for a special someone has not been forgotten. Love you Perry, then and still!

  • @mysticpw Most all of the oldies touched my soul and bring back some great and not so great memories. Love this song!

  • We've actually met. This has always been my favorite of his songs.

  • What year was this?

  • @Paganzer I think 1974

  • @gamesrockaareawesome Don't agree for many and myself included the best version of this song is by The Love Affair from 1968!

  • @remymartain I disagree. I think Carl Carlton's is better.

  • @auaiao9 And I disagree with you. I think The Love Affair version is better.

  • @remymartain Then we agree to disagree. :)

  • @auaiao9 No - I don't. You are just wrong and I am right! ;-)

  • @remymartain nope

  • @auaiao9 No, I'm still right!

  • @remymartain Counseling is available to you. ;-)

  • @auaiao9 I think we call this projecting. You're desperate need for the last word will not be satisified here. You see I know that is what you crave - keep coming little fly.

  • @remymartain You assume too much, little cat. I know for a fact it's YOU who has to have the last word. You're projecting your method of operation on me and simply cannot let go. But before it leads to foolish anger on your part I'll open the door and let you out to roam the neighborhood. :)

  • @auaiao9 Ah, so the truth hits home, you really are too obvious. I don't assume, I know, and I've sensed your anger from the get go. You really reveal a lot and your desperate need for some sort of vindication is well, pathetic really. You need to sort out those mommy and daddy issues but please keep venting.

  • @remymartain All of this is because we disagree on a song? You wouldn't even agree to disagree which told me a lot about you. That should've been the end of it.

  • @auaiao9 Well you hoped it would end with you getting the last word – how sad is that? That’s me dancing inside your head to the sound of Everlasting Love by the Love Affair the best version ever! Have a brainfart and think about it – you know I’m right.

  • @remymartain You can have the last word if you want it, whether or not you reply back doesn't matter. Truth is I never heard of "Love Affair" until I googled them and you know what? I don't like them. So you go ahead and enjoy "the right song" while I enjoy the one I prefer and don't be afraid to work on those mommy and daddy issues you see in yourself.

  • @auaiao9 Oh, it matters to you that is pretty obvious. Keep on trolling baby, keep on trolling, I’ve got the Everlasting Love.

  • @Paganzer it was 1968

  • now he is doing gospel

    natural transition

    can't beat the originals

    dude is greatness

  • good song

  • i just raped the replay button so hard...it was so good i need a smoke now

  • thats the version I know

  • I still have this album. As good as the original version of this song is, this version will always be the best & most popular!

  • Great song but it is a bit too short! I just wish it was at least 3 minutes long if not longer!

  • great stuff

  • This is the best version!

  • he was on the fresh prince hahaha

  • How can you NOT love someone named Carl Carlton? EPIC name, fabulous song!

  • A bit lightweight. Not a patch on Robert Knight's original or the Love Affair (Steve Ellis) cover.

  • i think that usually our favorite version is the version we heard first. i heard this version first, so it's my favorite. it's part of my growing up. i had no idea that "please mr. postman" was a remake when i heard it for the first time by the carpenters. the carpenters version remains my favorite, tho marvelettes fans will disagree.

  • @eydie57 I totally agree with you.

  • Carl Carlton's version of Everlasting is the best and the one I will always remember.

  • I don't really care that Carlton's was the bigger hit. Knight's was better. In Carlton's version, he sounds like he's saying, "your love would be nice if you're willing to give it. If not, oh well." In Knight's, he sounds like he is absolutely prepared to give his lover tender loving care for a lifetime. Knight sounds much more sincere, and the instruments utilized in Knight's version have a prettier sound too. Carlton fans are free to disagree with me. This is just my opinion.

  • @Jibjub80 You make absolute, clear statements as if they were pure fact and not at all subject to personal preference and then try to soften it by saying, "this is just my opinion." Why not make the whole thing softer? You'll come off as much less of a dick that way. Next time try something like - "personally, I prefer Knight's version. To me he sounds much more sincere." See how much nicer that sounds?

  • @MissJNMelvin All right, fair enough. I have a preference for Knight's version. I did not however say that Carlton's was awful. It is not bad. I like Knight's better.

  • Carl Carlton sang this just ... perfectly! I loved it then and I love it now.

  • tevin campbell really sounds like him. no lie

  • My favorite song, and this is the best version!

  • GREATTTT SONG!!!!! THANKS!!! <3

  • AGREED!!!!!

  • I think we all really like this song, but for me Carl Carlton takes it to a new level, best version by far!!

  • I don't know that it's an improvement over the original, but it's ever bit as good.

  • I speak as a soul fan for 44 years........But steve ellis version is the best there is

  • Have always loved this song!

  • Hey Guys I´m creating a top 1000 of the best songs ever made

    Greetings from Amsterdam

  • I went to elementary school in Detroit with him.

  • @motorcityquig you must be quite old...

  • @uz1111 He was a grade ahead of me, I guess that makes both of us old.

  • i am sorry but the love affairs version is best

  • When wearing one's heart on one's sleeve was a good thing. Beautiful.

  • A timeless classic! I've been trying to find this song for years! Thanks for posting it my Youtube friend!

  • This is the first version I have ever heard of this song and it's the only one I want to hear. :)

  • This song is beautiful. I get chills down my back when listening to it. It's that good!!! :D!

  • Although Carlton's version is okay, I think that Knight's is better. Knight sings the lines much more clearly, Knight's is more romantic and convincing, and the instruments used in Knight's version have a nicer sound than in Carlton's. But supposedly Carlton's was the bigger hit, so it is whichever you like. That's why radio stations play both versions.

  • i am 13 and i absolutly love this song :)

  • @hcolover2000 you have good taste!

  • Wow does this bring back the memories.

  • ah! ecco dovè andatato a predendere ''everlasting love '' Jamie Collum

  • One of the versions that is better than the original. Unforgettable!

  • My first crush gave me this 8-track! I will NEVER forget it! I knew of the Robert Knight original. This one hit me soooo hard. I still love the song. Haven't seen her in 35 years or so.....

  • What a talent!

  • I have loved this song for years. Thanks so much for posting it!

  • A great cover of the original--proof that remakes are sometimes an improvement. An everlasting classic thanks to Carl.

  • @2016or6 I beg to differ! Rob Knight's better to me!!!

  • @thatman234 DITTO!!!!!!!!

  • everyone can cover it but HE sings this song!

  • @taratepee Couldn't have said it better myself XD

  • Your right. His is the best version.Robert Knights is great and so is Gloria Estefans but this version is the best.

  • @taratepee Yes he does. It's by far the best! Heard it on the radio the other day and almost bust my speakers turning it up so loud! LOL

  • @taratepee You got that right!!!

  • Oh yea gotta post this one. This goes out to all the married brothers and to my beautiful queen Halima.
