To cut a long story short:

1. Remove the HDD, try to turn the console on without the HDD in place. If it works, turn it off and place the HDD back in place. Turn the console on. If the error reappears, replace the HDD. You can also try to clean the HDD connector on the HDD and the console.

2. Try to disconnect all accessories (USB-devices and memory units). Only the power cable and the A/V cable should remain connected to your console. Try to turn the console on again.

E68 is a simple hard drive problem.

Turn the console off, remove the hard drive and turn the console back on. If the E68 error appears again, the problem can be related with accessories. Turn the console off, disconnect all connected devices except the power cord and the AV-cable (you should disconnect USB-devices and memory units). Then turn the console back on. If the E68 error appears again, your console is defective :-(
