It's fictional but they wanted to make it seem as real as possible. It has everything to do with Slender Man.

Troy and Joseph, the creators, were actually very upset when the programmer for the Marble Hornets DVD referenced the Slender Man. As for the film, "The Tall Man", the IMDB page had a FAQ with the question of whether it was based off the Slenderman Mythos. Whoever answered it denied it, but it seems pretty obvious from the plot synopsis.

Suggestions: Probably fade the music in and mix the music in with the regular audio. Like you can hear the music but you can also hear the screams, glass shattering, etc. Also, when the words goes up in a black screen, it'll be scarier if a little girl or boy says it in a hushed whisper. Other than all that, It's impressive. I would watch the movie.
