Cliff May gave a fantastic and informative interview with Jon Stewart on the Daly Show. The show aired April 28th 2009. Stewart is very liberal and Anti-Torture, yet he was able to conduct an interview where he express' his differences of opinion in a most civil and rational manner while still managing to inject humor into the dialogue. I recomend the unedited, nearly 45 minute, interview to anyone with a desire for more information about this. Peace

To Torture or not to torture...that is the question. No matter how one looks at it, torture is inhumane. The problem with torture is that IT WORKS! American spies, Russian spies, French spies, UK spies, Japanese spies, Chinese spies ALL spies. They ALL practice torture and have been subjected to torture. It is cruel, it is horrible and it stinks but it is the way of the world and no one will ever be able to put an end to it. The cold hard truth is a big pill to swallow. .Get well soon.

BattleAngel...Where in my comment did I say torture was moral? Where in my comment can you find me condoning torture? the answer is NOWHERE.

My comment is based on simple FACTS,. the indisputable universal facts about human nature. Personally, I find torture disturbing but my opinion will not remove the ingrained evolutionary psychology from all mankind. BattleAngel... The problem with your idealistic opinion is that you live in an ignorant fantasy world. Oblivious to the reality of life because you choose to be ignorant out of fear . I do not expect my comments to be popular, but I can live with them because they are based on FACTS. People hate to hear the truth, particularly when there is no easy clear cut answer that fits into One's own personal idea of ethics. "everybody" practices torture so we should do nothing about it. YOUR so-called "facts" is the basis for my opinion that your whole entire family should be tortured with waterboarding and the rest of should just sit back and accept it "because its the way of the world." Great video. Like almost every other accusation of violations of international law, the former Bush admin. are more worried about the release itself rather than the violations of human rights that it demonstrates.

There is actually a very good reason why this was necessary. The whole world knows that the US tortures, but that fact is seldom discussed in the US. Now we can show the world that we WILL IN FACT take responsibility for such heinous crimes. We no longer pretend and say no.

Actually, they pretend that they did not torture. If you've seen any of the vids of Bush and his stooges they keep repeating the words, "We don't torture."

But, this isn't anything new for the US. We've been sending economic hit men into 3rd world countries for over 50 years and when that doesn't work, the CIA.

The main difference between then and now is the fact that we know about it as it occurs, not 5 or 10 years later.

You're absolutely right. The world knows the truth. That's why Bush et. al. do so few interviews with foreign journalists. Only Americans are blind enough to believe the Bush admin. Since we have repeaters, not reporters, they'll be safe from all tough questioning.

They don't really concern themselves with the rest of the world, because Americans are always told that they envy us, and THAT'S why they say those things, not because they happen to be true.
