i beat this game with no problem with my 9500 gt, it was more smooth sailing with the quad, some people dont know, but this game or the card period needs a good psu also, and im using a 750w atx12V 2.3 now.

yougamers helped alot with this game for me, you are right, this game was poorly optimized for the PC (This is one of those games with USELESS video settings.)

but wat yougamers show is that the consoles run this game on LOW settings, PC can run medium high, and the other good shit.

This game wasn't actually meant to be played yknow, it was originally intended to be malware that made every single component of your PC no matter how much RAM, or how good your CPU is, to fry itself upon running the game. But, the devs got bored and decided to actually code up a game when they were done doing Rockstars evil bidding, and decided to simply be cruel to players and watch as their machines literally imploded as theya ttempted to run this game on minimum settings. The hd 4830 is almost as expensive as 9600gt and do very better on gaming. You shoud try to get a q8200, but if you can

If you can't, you could go with this amd x2 6 and buy a M3 motherboard and change the processor in 3 years, getting a phenon II, when the games will ask to 4 cores. The 4830 is a good choice, a better one should be a hd 4770, only if you live in USA, of course, because it's about 100 dollars, and it's ddr5, 40nm manufactured. That's my dream card.

It is for most of games nowadays, but you see that GTA IV is already optimized to 4 cores. WIth this specs you would be able to play all high with all bars on 2 I think, cause the more bars you put on, more processing is needed. The res is not a problem in this game, you could use even 1440x900.

i ran sapphire hd4830, intel q6600, 4gb 800mhz ram, 2 sata hard drives, and 6 120mm case fans using a thermaltake tr2 430w powersupply. i used that from january until about a week ago with no problems. even overclocked both cpu and gpu and still no problems. i did replace that psu with a better one just to be sure though.

oh btw the powersupply had 18A on the 12v rail.
