  • Hi Everyone,

I just finished developing a 48V upgrade kit! If you want one, let me know. It's a do-it-yourself installation. Makes these bikes really cool & fast! Check out my new videos where I explain how to install them.

  • Thanks - check out my iZip Zuma at 72V too! That's the one I ride to work every day at 30mph.

The eZip DC motor burns out if you run it at 48V (and 32mph) on a hot day - so to make it safe, you need to limit the power to around 800W or so (which gets you up to 27 - 28mph max speed).

  • @MaderTB cant the motor burn out or heat up ??? nice mod by the way

  • Hi Pete, my email is thomas dot b dot mader at gmail dot com.

I have been asked several times how to do such an upgrade. Ok, maybe this is it. I'm gonna make an upgrade kit... would it be worth $199 ?

  • Hi Can't find you on google. I would like to have a go at this and upgrade my wifes Izip. You must have been asked this before so do you have any how to info to wire up the controller and to put the battery packs in series. Pete

  • 52 kph

  • Those SLA's experienced a voltage drop of 10V according to your Cycle Analyst readout. Try switching to Sony Konion 18650V's, they are 1.5ah 10C cells and will fit snug into your battery cases. DoctorBass and a few others sell them at the Endless Sphere forum. A 14S10P pack would do you just fine, 7S10P on each side. About 6.5lbs each pack for a total of 725Whrs and less voltage drop.

  • I now have a small side business called Mader Technologies. You can contact me through that website (just Google it).

  • That is fast- I managed 32mph today on my Scott mountain bike peddling flat out down a steep hill in the country- it seemed very fast!! To do that on the flat must require a powerful motor.

  • how do i contact you to upgrade, when i go on the website no mention of izip bikes.

  • No pedalling ! Under ideal conditions with no current limit I have hit 35mph... normally around 30mph, I put a 17A current limit to avoid burning up the motor (I already burned one up at 25A :)

  • were u pedaling too?

  • you can contact me through Radiient's website

  • you can contact me through the information or support emails at Radiient's website

  • I am a currie dealer so I can sell you the eBike if you want. I can upgrade it for you, or point you towards the websites where you can get them yourself. You need to know how to solder and some electronics skills if you do it yourself though.

  • @MaderTB, YES COULD YOU PLEASE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AS TO HOW TO UPGRADE MY E-ZIP 24V ELECTRIC BIKE.YOU CAN REACH ME AT langhorn1@yahoo.com,THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Impressive. What make of 48V controller is that and how many amps does it run at? At 24v, how many watts is the motor meant to produce?

  • The controller is from Crystalyte, it is rated to 30 amps but can hit peaks close to 40 amps for short periods. The motor is rated at 450W -- it hits peaks of 700W from a cold start at 24V, and can hit peaks of 1400W from a cold start at 48V. As a result I have set a current limit to 20 Amps on the controller to keep the peak below about 900W. Still goes 32mph but with a bit slower acceleration (which is good so I get more exercise).
