  • Man Markov was my favorite player on that team when there was less than 5 minutes left he didn;t give a fuck he'd be blocking shots with his face if he had to.

  • now captain of KHL's awesome goon squad, Vityaz

  • Too bad Jagr is a legend, while Danny was a randy..

  • Markov was a great player ... There were a ton of Russians on those late 90's leaf teams

  • Danny Markov was my favourite Leaf player... I remember when this happened, such a fucking great feeling! can't wait for the leafs to make the playoffs again and do some damage :-) i can picture grabovski doing something smart ass like this after a series win ;-)

  • Jagr did the salute today against the maple leafs.

  • Man, I miss the Playoffs : (

  • Thumbs up if Twitter sent you.

  • danny markov was a beauty lol

  • Thumbs up if you came here after the Leafs and Flyers game on October. 24, 2011

  • HEY Jagr wasn't a crybaby he was just injury prone if u want crybaby watch cindy crosby

  • Rip Karpotsev, Korolev

  • Too bad he loved his booze so much...that's why the Leafs traded him.

  • Danny Markov, you magnificent coked-up, bastard. I salute you, sir.

  • and where are the Leafs now

  • @plaidchuck wow, good one.

  • man, Cujo can never stay on his skates, can he?

  • hilarious. I loved Markov when he was on my flyers he had a lot of energy. and anybody stickin it to the penguins is ok in my book.

  • Hmm. Let's see. Jarda: 2 Cups, named to All Rookie Team, 5 Art Ross, 1 Hart Trophy, 3 Lester B. Pearsons, NHL 1st Team All Star 7 Times, 2nd Team All Star Once, Finalist for Hart 5 times, (and he should have won most of those. He simply wouldn't kiss the media's ass). 1 Olympic Gold, 1 Olympic Bronze, 2 Golds at Worlds. Markov's Awards: 1 Gold and 1 Bronze at Wlds. At the end of the '98-'99 season Markov didn't win a damn thing. So, I seriously doubt Jarda gave a rat's ass about that salute.

  • @XMedoraX Good job reading wikipedia. You missed few key facts that I just added. Jagr was a cry baby. Markov made him cry this series. Jagr cared enough to stop doing is Salute next year and start blowing kisses (presumably because Markov wouldn't blow kisses at him).

Seriously, Mario won two cups for Jagr. Hasek won him that gold medal. This was the only time they faced in the playoffs and Markov won.

  • @ubo1rules A ha, Mario won two cups for Jagr, Barraso, Francis, Stevens, Murphy, Coffey (in 1991) and all penguins team, this is what you saying? I thought ice-hockey is collective sport.

  • @ubo1rules lol you're a dumbass. Look how many goals he scored, Jagr was a crazy player. How many cups, medals, world championships do you have? Thats what I thought. Fucking scrub gtfo.

  • Who is this guy? 1on1 with Jagr...Jagr would win! :-p

  • Once of the greatest moments in the history of Mellon Arena !

  • i find it funny that a crappy player like him has the balls to mock one of the best players the nhl has ever seen...doesnt matter what u did...respect the fact that jagr is 1000000000x better than u

  • @prid92 its pretty hard to compare and defenseman though. kinda why bobby orr vs wayne gretzky gets thrown out the window alot. and honestly when was the last time a d-man was considered the player best in the league

  • @prid92 Exactly! Normally, I don't mind a player doing something like this. But it should be done by somebody that plays more than 2 shifts a game!

  • @1AndOnlyChosen1 @Davisek. Danny Markov was no 2 shift guy. He made the All Star game a couple times. He and Yushkevich were the D pair that knocked Jagr around this series and shut down him down. Jagr was so frustrated he took a couple of retaliatory penalties. The salute was classic.

  • @1AndOnlyChosen1 You have no idea what you're talking about. Danny Markov was a beast on the ice...too bad he was a crazy drunk.

  • i love how quinn doesnt give a shit they won

  • omfg i fucking love danny

  • Yushkevich and Markov pretty much destroy the myth of the soft European. Those guys were fucking awesome.

  • you are so right, those two dudes were awesome

  • @Grayto, they were gamers but to say that all Euro-trash play like this is wrong. There are still far too many soft Europeans taking up space on 3rd and 4th lines; they fail to bring any entertainment to the game. Their skill level isn't high enough to play a pure skill-game while they bring nothing physically. Their presence actually detracts from the game.

  • @TheGuysmily yea but grayto has a point. its stupid how people generally think that all euros are soft, it isnt true. guys like antropov, ponikarovsky are but the euros on the leafs from the late 90s-early 2000s werent and thats why we had such a great team. i can't remember us getting blown out like we do nowadays.

  • Awesome. Too bad Markov was such a drunk, he was crazy, and the right amount of crazy too.

  • lol

    i forgot about this series

    GO LEAFS GO

  • yeah, we didn't let in 6 goals a game when Markov and Yushkevich were on the blueline. i miss those days...

  • I still can't believe Quinn traded Markov for Robert Reichel and Travis Green.

  • @Awwscrewit seriously eh? that was such a stupid trade

  • @Awwscrewit to be fair when someone scores in a shootout with a slapshot everyone calls it a Robert Reichel in homage of his worlds awesomness.

as a Leaf Fan and Torontonian I liked Markov alot but R squared was alway s afavourite of mine.. if you pick him in old NHL games he is unstoppable

  • @Awwscrewit agreed...but green and reichel were pretty good too....reichel spent some time on the top line and green was like having another tucker

  • two thumbs up pls.

  • I so miss that crazy sob Markov.

  • haha love it

  • Hahaha , good times . .I miss the blue and white in the playoffs..

  • Jagr must have been pissed.

  • You should see this when they air it on Leafs TV as a classics game. Bowen/Neale discuss it and joke around about Markov including telling my favorite story ever about Markov/Yushkevich arguing on the bench.

  • please elaborate

  • This may be my new favorite clip.
