Yeah it's not actually my place, my best friends', no farm but decent amount of land, unlike where I live, Chicago suburbs lol... But the potential to do just about anything is there :)
Regarding the shutter speed and high speed video, someone told me that in high speed video mode, the camera forces the shutter speed to be the same as the frame rate. That doesn't sound right to me, as it would result in a lot of motion blur of fast moving subjects. Can you adjust the shutter speed during high speed video mode?
I saw one video from a guy with this camera who actually captured a 9mm bullet traveling through the air. He set his to 1/40000 and 1200 fps. "Shooting a steel plate in slo-mo"
I think the best shots with this camera in slo mo is in bright daylight.
I can't emphasize enough how shooting in daylight is THE single most important element in using the EX-F1's High-Speed recording mode. Don't ever expect to get anything even remotely respectable shooting in High-Speed while indoors, unless you have a ridiculous light setup.
I haven't seen too much information on how the camera shoots stills with low light. What's your experience? I'm still hoping to get this camera for Christmas. Come on Santa!
I've only seen this camera selling for around $1000. Who do you recommend buying from? Many online camera stores have very bad reputations so I am very skiddish about purchasing one of these. Thanks!
I got mine for around $750 from a reputable Ebay vendor named 'Dzone2', as of this writing he has none in stock, however there is another high-ranking vendor named 'T-Dimension2' who has almost 22,000 rankings at 99% positive, who is selling the Ex F1 for $738.13 RIGHT NOW.
I believe the video format is MPEG. The interface cable is a USB. I am sure you could also pop the memory card into a card reader too. I'm sure it would work with a Mac.
shopcartusa, meh, I wouldn't risk sending my money to those guys. I'd rather pay a couple hundred dollars more and know I would get a camera than risk getting 663 swindled from me. I read quite a few bad stories about shoptcartusa.
Ah, thanks for asking, you CANNOT zoom DURING recording in high speed. You can set the desired zoom beforehand however. I will add that factoid to the video info, thanks ;)
thanks, this is very useful information for me and am sure for many others ...and one more info if you can provide.. what is the difference between the shutter speed of a video cam ( i have one which claims 1/8000 sec ) and say 2000 or higher frames per second.. and concluded wrongly ( and late )that 1/8000 sec shutter speed should give you 8000 fps ...thanks for clarifying ..:)
A typical NTSC consumer camcorder shoots at 29.97 frames per second. Your 1/8000 sec shutter speed is relative to the amount of time the shutter is open when taking 1 frame of the 29.97 frames in that second. The processors in cameras and camcorders are fairly different. In camcorders, significantly more light is required to gather more frames-per-second, which is why the Ex F1 is almost useless indoors (when shooting in high speed). Hope this helps :)
Cool video. Man I'd love to live on a farm - looks like fun.

Unfortunately, you can't change the shutter speed during High-Speed recording.

Since the format of the videos is in Quicktime, is it compatible with Macs, and how do you set it up (cables, software, etc.)
