I wonder what could a baby have a nightmare about.maybe the birthing experience. That has to be hard, being in a nice quiet warm safe place, then coming into this big world.I mean really what can they be dreaming about?
My baby did this, and I didn't wake him, however when I noticed it, I would rub his head, and whisper it's okay, this didn't wake him, but my touch, and voice seemed to comfort him, and he stopped. You could try it with your next little one, since this one must be a few years old now. Cute baby!
Oh, I wanted to hug your baby!! I do understand why he needs to keep sleeping, though. He's so sweet! The part at the end where he's moving his hands and babbling reminds me of my niece. Sweetie pie ;)
'NIghtmare' my arse, most babies spend 80%+ in REM sleep. Babies don't 'think' like us therefore they cannot be imagining fearful or threatening events. Proper nightmares start at 3+ years. Just ignore them and it soon passes, as can be seen.
Literatures say that it's one of baby's development involving his/her sleep stages/architecture. So you're doing the right thing not waking the baby up, it's just how nature works.
I would love to know what was going on inside your little babies mind...whats a nightmare for a baby...mommy runs out of milk,or big bird gets ran over on the motorway?? lol!
aww that was soo sad but thanks for the tip now i knw that when or if my baby girl has bad dream nt to wake her n he woke up all happy like nothing ever happened he is adorable by the way nt just saying that he really is rofl
Awww...adorable baby! Whenever my nephew cried in his sleep as a baby...I would just gently put my hand on his chest or stomach just to console him enough not to wake him and it usually worked.
@13mordeth i assume ur supposed to let them wake themselves up? [it is kinda freaky to watch someone baby, child or adult twitch when they are having a nightmare]

@13mordeth AND THE BABY WILL REMEMBER THE NIGHTMARE BITCH! WAKE THEM UP! READ THEM A FUCKIN STORY! AND CUDDLE THEM AND LET THEM SLEEP WITH YOU IN BED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
um actually there is no evidence whatsoever about the 'not waking the baby up' thing - in fact, if you don't wake the baby up and reassure it the nightmare can just get worse and worse - that thing about not waking people up when they're having a nightmare is just an old wives' tale
@xenahead I agree/ Although probaly in victorian britain then they would NOT wake the child up. They were HORRIBLE to children in those days. but now is the present.

These are not dreams they are called night terrors. They absolutely horrible. My son suffered for years. They don't remember them. You stand there helpless. My son would walk in his sleep while he was having them. He even walked outside once. Needless to say I was a light sleeper for 12 years.
Advice: Don't wake them up., try not to restrain them and talk calmly. I hope your baby didn't continue to have them.
@bloodhoun138 clearly they do have a memory. they memorize their mothers voice while in the womb. and thats BEFORE they are born and have a somewhat fully developed brain!

Babies can't dream, they can't even keep a memory for 2 seconds so how are they suppose to dream?
