My baby did this, and I didn't wake him, however when I noticed it, I would rub his head, and whisper it's okay, this didn't wake him, but my touch, and voice seemed to comfort him, and he stopped. You could try it with your next little one, since this one must be a few years old now. Cute baby!

'NIghtmare' my arse, most babies spend 80%+ in REM sleep. Babies don't 'think' like us therefore they cannot be imagining fearful or threatening events. Proper nightmares start at 3+ years. Just ignore them and it soon passes, as can be seen.

These are not dreams they are called night terrors. They absolutely horrible. My son suffered for years. They don't remember them. You stand there helpless. My son would walk in his sleep while he was having them. He even walked outside once. Needless to say I was a light sleeper for 12 years.

Advice: Don't wake them up., try not to restrain them and talk calmly. I hope your baby didn't continue to have them.
