@MsZeitgeist85 Sure. An honest European politician has the balls to say that his socialized healthcare system sucks and somehow it's total bullshit. Yeah.
@TheManiacalSatanist6 It is bullshit the UK likes the NHS. Canada likes their provincial Medicare. Hannan is a crackpot there is no such thing as a "Free Market Solution"
@TheManiacalSatanist6 I have seen these "reports" and there is a video that shows how people from a think tank distorted the words of NHS managers. They were suggesting possable improvements they were not saying it doesn't work not even close.
The NHS still spends half what the USA spends per capita and outpreforms the USA system in every area.
@MsZeitgeist85 Really, then what about the videos that come out of Cuba, France, Britain, etc. of the conditions of these HEALTHCARE CLINICS *death traps would be a better term for them*. The waiting lists for people who need heart transplants, kidney transplants, MRIs, CTs, the time it takes just to get an appointment WITH a doctor, which are in VERY short supply.
Face it. Programs like the NHS don't work, and can't work.
@TheManiacalSatanist6 Who told you that Alex Jones? Lizard People David Icky? France is ranked 1 in the world. The UK is 18th, the USA 37th. America is dead last of all developed nations in infant mortality and life expectancy. Doctors and supplys are always limited the issue is how well they are used.
There is NEVER a wait list for urgent care in any of those countrys. My roomate lived in the UK and Canada. 93% of of Brits rate the NHS as good or exellent.
@MsZeitgeist85 "Who told you that Alex Jones? Lizard People David Icky?"
No, the reports tell me that. The doctors who have actually worked in places like Canada and the UK, places that have Socialized Medicine tell me that. The survival rates of illnesses tell me that the reports that rank us dead last are complete bullshit. And this who, WE SPEND MORE ON HEALTHCARE nonsense is easily justified by the fact that we have a higher GDP than the other countries.
Rush Limbaugh & Republican policy is " I don't care how much the fat cats on Wall street make even if they are wrecking the economy." But he will quickly sack an unproductive employee. He wants regulation for the poor not the rich.
His group talk the talk but don't walk the walk. He criticizes with no facts Just google this: "U.S. healthcare system ranked last of seven countries": "FACT"
A couple of things come to mind here. Firstly, literally everything Hannan says here is a lie (mentioning the Daily Mail as a source should be a big clue here, it often runs with completely fabricated front pages. A previous editor made it clear that the purpose of an article in the Mail is to make someone angry, not to tell the truth.)
Secondly, Hannan is an MEP. This is where Britain sticks all its fringe nutcases instead of letting them join in proper politics back home, they are a joke.
You're partly right - lifestyle choices also play a part in life expectancy.... but the availability of healthcare is a key aspect of life expectancy.
But it's a fact - the US's GDP is twice that of the UK and they spend 50% more of it on healthcare....
... yet the system there (where a handful of healthcare companies enjoy a near monopoly) the people end up living shorter, unhealthier lives - and pay more for it.
diet probably has more to do with life expectancy than availability of healthcare. in japan, people from okinawa are 5 times more likely to live to 100 than anywhere else, but that's because the average okinawan diet is much healthier, not because their healthcare is better. whereas the average american has a terrible diet. i think the average life expectancy in scotland is lower than it is in england, despite both countries having almost identical healthcare systems.
the near monopoly status for insurance companies is down to the government being stupid about regulation (in most states, it's illegal to buy insurance from another state, which has just resulted in a very few companies becoming nation wide health insurance corporations dominating the insurance market)
Americans have a lower life expectancy because they are more likely to shoot each other or get into a car accident. I have lived in a universal healthcare system and the US system and seen the results. In the US system the care and technology and what they are able to do, quickly is fantastic! Compared to a universal healthcare system which has long waiting for serious problems and no motive to properly diagnosed.
As for GDP, that estimate includes any medical care including Plastic surgery....
...and lasik eye surgury. After the UK spends its 9.4% on Med care it just lets the IMF(International Monetary Fund) take care of the rest. Why do you think UK and to explain to the IMF how it was going to fund their healthcare?
This whole con is a lot of numbers and money games. If the US adopted a universal health care system then other countries would not get aid from the IMF to fund their health care systems. It could well deflate the economy of the entire world.
@TheManiacalSatanist6 The NHS has worked in the UK for over 60 years and Nationalized Care is the most used system of all developed nations. How many other countrys allow for profit health insurance for primary care? ZERO How many other countries don't have the payer collectivley bargin with providers and companys? ZERO
Only the USA yet we spend the most money on health care and rank dead last of all developed nations in health care.
All American's would serve themselves well; if they would lend an attentive ear to what Mr. Hannan is trying to tell 'US', all of 'US', liberal, moderate, conservative, Republican, Independent and Democrat. Once specific programs, such as, National Healthcare and Cap & Trade are legislated and set into motion, there is little chance of turning back for decades too come, if ever.
This is 100% bullshit.
How much did some think tank pay this shill to spout this stupidity.

@maxfm83 Life Expectancy is a terrible measure of Healthcare since they also factor in homicide, suicide, and car crashes that kill you on impact.

Very true; We, the people of the US will undoubtedly regret these bills being put into effect as we do Obama being put into office.
