  • LOVE it so much it rules.

  • Prayer does nothing. You are just talking to yourself.

Wasting time, when you could be actually doing something constructive.

  • This is hilarious!!! How did i miss your Muhammad videos? I mean, they have to be on your channel someplace, right?

  • Dude sorry this is not a legitimate video for me because Jesus didn't condemn people praying together in a group. Remember when Jesus prayed with His group at the last supper when he broke bread and blessed the meal? Jesus was speaking about the Pharisees becuase they loved people to think that they were righteous... when people pray together they are only praying for God to hear them.. When Churches pray together are they breaking Jesus words? No. When a high school group prays are they? No.

  • @ABeanieBug

""When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.

But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. "

Jesus even condemns praying inside a church - let alone at a football game. Pray in secret is His advice.

  • CHRISTIANITY is a joke

  • before religion was banned from American public shools the "mindbenders" used to brainwash schoolchildren daily to believe in the absurd hebrew bible super-natural fairytales. Slowly over time the people became educated enough to see that the hebrew bible is a crudely designed slave manual that the jews wrote for their descendants to study and implement.

"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities." - Voltaire

  • The alleged 'decline' of the schools has little to do with forcing innocent children to recite government-approved 'prayers'.

If parents want their children to behave they need to take responsibility for disciplining them - such passing the buck only teaches the children to avoid responsibility for their own actions.

  • Jesus does not forbid public prayer!!!!!! I know you are just misinterpreting the scripture when Jesus was talking about hypocrites. whatever scripture you are believing is saying that trust me you are just misinterpreting it. Jesus tells his people to spread the gospel so that means you must speak in public in oder to do that and that also includes praying in public. Christians pray for others too not just for themselves. We like to pray together.

  • "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

Not much to 'interpret' here - jesus wants his followers to pray in private: no ifs, ands, or buts.

Whoever is telling you to pray in public is steering you wrong.

  • "Pray without ceasing" (I Th. 5:17)

In school, at the mall, at work, before meals -- all day long!

Jesus isn't saying to *only* pray in private. The context of the passage is against the hypocrites -- who pray to *be seen of men*. (See surrounding verses.) It is true that the most meaningful prayer is done in private, as my Lord Jesus did in the garden of Gethsemane and on the mount.

If this does mean to only pray in private, then we'd better hate our family as well (Lk. 14:26). Quite obvious.

  • pksml -

If one has to try and reconcile the two verses: can't one pray quietly so *only* god can hear?

Many do take the things written in the bible literally, but then disobey jesus's explicit command against public prayer.

  • @proudfootz And the commands to stone gays burn witches be a cannibal, and worship a fucking torture weapon.

  • Nice argument.

  • @proudfootz Whoever is telling you to pray in general is telling you wrong.

All scripture is, has been, and always will be misinterpreted due to the thousands of translations, hundreds of different authors, different people retelling and slightly warping the entire gospel. Hell fuck there have been at least 10 different cuts of Christianity already that each have a different interpretation of past events that are interpretations themselves.

  • Before you speak out against what they are saying make sure you have the knowledge to do so.

    Thank you for speaking tho.

  • this person did not interpret scripture correctly in this video. That is not what that scripture means at all. The reason why people including myself want prayer back in schools is not so we can show off but so that kids can learn about God and develop good strong morals. God is not against praying in public at all!

  • "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

Not much to 'interpret' here - jesus wants his followers to pray in private.

  • The public school is not the place to learn about religion. If you want your kids to learn about God why not teach them at home or send them to private school?

  • kids were more well behaved when we had prayer in school. kids need to have morals.

  • Jesus forbids public prayer. That makes it immoral for christians to do.

No one needs to pray in public to have morals. Blaming the schools for poor parenting doesn't solve bevaior problems.

  • There's lots of reasons why morality in our nation may have declined. You can't just jump to conclusions and blame it on a lack of school prayer. Furthermore prayer is a language of the spirit & heart not your lips! God's not interested in what your lips are saying. He's listening to your heart. Jesus made it clear not to make it obvious to others that you are praying or fasting. Same context.

  • grace -

It seems weird that some christians want school bureaucrats to supervise their children's religious education.

  • I would even so go far to say that I'm all for taking the 10 commandments off of every court room wall in america.

  • grace -

True religion doesn't need the 'help' of the government.

The Founders of the US were wise to let it alone, and that probably accounts for christianity flourishing here while having so much trouble abroad.

  • id be disturbed if you were serious

  • Amen. Prayer is a language of the heart not what comes out of your mouth. So yeah you can pray anytime anywhere but just don't make it obvious to others around you that you are praying. I am against praying out loud in public. We are commanded to pray without ceasing. That is to be in communion with God all the time. That's a language of the heart not the lips. We must worship God in Spirit and in truth.

  • Christian,

We have to be careful with this subject. Satan doesn't want us to pray, especially out loud. I tell you what, every knee shall bow and ever tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Do not be decieved or led astray. Pray to the father in the name of Jesus! Remember Satan tells half truths.

  • I agree with you preacher Dan..that was good...I am A christian And I agree with you about what you are saying ...when christians pray out in the open its like they are trying to be looked at in a very spiritual manner..praying at home I agree alone has more power and not so prideful..I was in school when this took place..the thing I hated though was my psychology teacher was against prayer in school but she made our class meditate and try to clear our minds..Yoga Buddhism

  • Jesus is not addressing public prayer in that verse he addressing pride. You've taken this out of context. The book of Acts is full of references to public prayer. Banning prayer in schools is against our constitutional rights of freedom of religion. It all depends where your heart is and the Lord knows.

  • hur -

Yes, Jesus takes it as a sign of hypocritical pride to stand out in a public spot and pray loudly for all to hear.

Jesus commands those who respect His wishes to pray in private.

  • What jesus means is that ur not supposed to pray out loudly just to be heard. He doesnt mean u cant pray out loud, He means dont pray just so that others can hear you. You dont pray for ppl to see you YOU PRAY FOR GOD TO HEAR YOU. prayers of the hypocrites is just meaning praying for others, it doesnt matter where you pray, as long as it is a genuine prayer. God will listen to, so you better get ur bible straight first

  • So when Jesus says 'go pray in the closet' you can just ignore him?

I don't understand why so many feel they have to 'interpret' what Jesus 'meant' when what he says is so plain and obvious.

  • Jesus said to pray ALWAYS, theres no getting away from that one.

  • We can only conclude He wants His followers to spend a lot of time in the closet.

No one said being an obedient follower of Jesus would be easy!

  • Kids can already pray in school if they want to, privatly. Want is wrong when they want to force everyone in the school to pray, which is wrong. Not everyone is a christian you know and they don't want your religion pushed on them just like you don't want their religion or lack of pushed on you. So please, keep public prayer out of our schools.

  • Because cration is for the mentally rearted,,,its not even a theory.

  • youve allready got a place where you can hear your views, ITS CALLED CHURCH

and if you dont like the way america is being run ... go somewhere else and leave the rest of us in peace

  • theres no such thing as god, its as fake as santa claus. religious pple are gullable faggots. The end.

  • Although its true that there is no evidence to support the existence of god, I would refrain from calling them "gullable faggots," they have been indoctrinated and you should try to convince them with logic, not namecalling.

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!

    YES!!!!!!!!!!

some of my "christian" friends always ask why I don't pray before eating, and I tell them that verse, and they just look at me like "well, we don't want to be seen, we're just thanking Jesus for the food we're eating"

and I tell them to thank him when you get home, or just think to yourself, no words, no closing of eyes, think "thank you Lord for this wonderful food and life"

This video is amazing, I love you. Keep preaching the Good Word. Amen :-D

  • look at this video its racist against christian's

    and he is a hipocrit.

why dont you make a big deal about eating buggers in schools. THIS IS THE WORST VIDEO IVE SEEN SO FAR THIS GUY IS A DUMB ASSS

  • aint -

If quoting Jesus makes someone a dumb asss, you better go down to the local church and picket them.

Though I suppose a lot of churches aren't fond of actually quoting Jesus anymore.

  • "racist against christians"

    Buy a dictionary, aintproude.

  • Parymich777, if you honestly think that voice in your head guiding you through bible is anything besides your own imagination, stop and ask him sometime how many keys are on your keyboard. Chances are that the voice in your head will tell you an incorrect amount. I look forward to you telling me how you can't test god, or that you'd never ask god the question in the first place.

  • What do these words mean to you,"Destroy this temple and i will raise it again in three days." These were the words of Jesus himself. According to your argument u must think that Jesus was planning to actually destroy the building when he was talking about his resurrection. Right now i pray, publicly, that you will make right with God for your mockery against him and that you can be given a second chance to correct your blasphemy before its too late.

  • Pierce -

I guess I don't understand how quoting Jesus is a mockery.

This is a very simple command. If He said 'do not lie' you seem to be saying we're free to interpret it any way we like.

  • Right now, i just feel even more sorry for you. It is not everything in the Bible which requires interpretation such as "Thou shall not steal." Some things are just straight forward but the message from the passage in question is not the message that Our Lord was trying to convey and i focus on the word TRYING because to this day some ppl just do not get it.

  • I hope the person who made this video remembers that one day they will be held accountable in front of the golden gate for what they have done. God see's every sin.

  • bahn - Since when is quoting the bible a sin?

  • To quote the bible is not a sin.I have a hard time understanding how something so simple could be misunderstood so childishly and unintellectually.Clearly you're not worth the argument but since pary777 seemed alone on this i figured i would educate u in short.Jesus was the author of many parables and although the passage argued is not a parable, the message was to not pray in public for the purpose of showing off or for the praise of men and NOT; do not pray in public.

  • pierce -

So when Jesus says "Forgive others X many times" he was only making a point and didn't literally want people forgiving others that often?

  • It also says "Give to Ceaser what is Ceaser, and God what is God's." Which is a clear seperation of church and state.

    Great Vid!

  • smartz: Good observation - thanks!

  • no that verse was talking about tithing, not separation of church and state.

By the way, I prayed all through high school, and it was good for the school.

You can't tell me not to pray just as I can't tell a mother to not breastfeed in public!

  • It's Jesus who's telling people to pray in the closet, not me. If you don't care what He says, why would you listen to anyone?

They asked Jesus a question about taxes. Can you give me the part of that verse that says anything about tithing?

  • Jesus wasn't telling anyone to pray in the closet, in fact he said that we should not hide our light but that we should show it. The reference was to those who have attitude, and who brag and boast, that is not a good thing, but not to be ashamed either.

As for tithing, I will have to look for it again, I can't remember but I know it is in the old testament.

  • "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."

Don't you think if Jesus meant what you claim, He could have said so Himself instead of waiting for you to reveal His hidden meaning?

The video is quoting Jesus, not the Old Testament, so don't bother looking there - look at what Jesus said.

  • once again, Jesus is talking about pride, and about a specific group of people that do things for glory seeking, that's the point, if you can't see that then you need to sit down and read it again, and read the surrounding passages.

    It really isn't that complicated...

  • pary - Why can't you justr accept what Jesus says? It's very simple and clear - pray behind closed doors.

Are you really so much smarter than He is?

Why do you have so much pride that you feel you can just disobey Him?

  • I am confident that I understand the scripture well enough to recognize when it is being outright misused by people who have no respect for God's word to begin with, and who only wish to mock Him. I'm sorry but I cannot sit silent when obvious lies are so easily spread so as to mislead people.

  • pary - Well go ahead, I won't stop you. If there are any lies in this video kindly point them out - without 'interpreting away' the significance Jesus's actual words.

I am only quoting the scripture and seeing what the implications are of taking it seriously.

  • I highly doubt that you are in a position to interpret scripture, especially by doing what many say that christians do, and that is cherry pick. You must read the entire passage and know what it is talking about, to whom it was written and the circumstances surrounding that letter. Then you will see that I am right, that the passage you use is not Jesus saying that we should not pray in public at all, but used to make a point, much like the parables were used to make a point.

  • I see, pary: you're saying Jesus was prone to exaggeration. Which implies that He may have done it more than once - there may be many places where Jesus says things that aren't literally true in order to make a strong impression. So we need folks like you to 'interpret' what He *really* meant.

I *have* read the whole chapter and the whole book. There is no reason in the text to make me think Jesus was just making a point and didn't mean what He said.

  • Jesus wasn't exaggerating. It's not false witness, I am not lying, and I stand by what I believe to be true, and I cannot take the word of someone who has a clear agenda to attack christianity for what it stands for, over the word of God Himself, and what He has shown me to be true time and time again.

  • That's fine - but don't accuse me of lying when I am quoting the words of Jesus. You're only accusing Him of being a liar and exaggerator, a teller of tall tales.

  • I didn't say you were lying about the words that you quoted, I said that the explanation was not right, that was the lie. It's easy to misinterpret and come to your own conclusions about such things, but it isn't always accurate.

  • But I am *not* interpreting, I'm merely saying this is what Jesus is recorded to have said, and taking Him at His Word.

You are the one who is making the claim that we cannot believe what Jesus says at face value, that it must be 'interpreted' somehow so that we are not held responsible to follow the obvious meaning.

  • there are many passages in the bible that are to be taken literally and many that are to be taken figuratively, and then there are many passages that are for different purposes. It is not all about just the way you see it, if you know the purpose of the scripture it is easy to see how it is meant to be taken, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know this :D

  • pary - So how do you know the 'purpose' of this scripture? Who told you that this unambiguous passage was meant to be taken figuratively instead of literally? Isn't that person coming between you and Jesus? Aren't you trusting that person more than you trust Jesus? Why don't we just throw away the bible and listen to this new prophet?

  • My understanding comes from God. When I read scripture and ask God to show me what it means and give me understanding, and to see how it applies to my life today, then He answers. That is hard to show and hard to prove, I don't expect you to get it, but that's where my understanding comes frm, not any "man that told me so", so I am not disregarding Jesus, I am LISTENING to Him

  • Well, I guess that goes to show the bible isn't much good for anything, since it can't possibly be understood without the personal guidance of a god.

It begs the question of why this god doesn't just drop the bible and communicate directly with people.

Indeed, the bible is misleading since in it Jesus says one thing and supposedly means something else.

  • your twisting what I am saying.

It is not up to you to say that what you think is right, since you dont believe in it or follow it to begin with, your understanding is screwed up from the start.

  • Maybe so - reading the bible is, as you say, misleading without spirit guides.

  • like I said I wouldnt expect you to understand, obviously you don't either, and all you are doing is arguing.

The fact remeains, that you are deliberately misinterpreting scripture to suit your own purpose, to mock God, and then you expect people like me to take your criticism as valid or constructive? Sorry, it doesn't work for me.

  • pary - If you think simply reading the scripture as it is written is 'deliberately misinterpreting' it, while listening to voices in your head saying "When Jesus says X it really means Y" is a better method, why not throw the bible away?

You prefer the guidance of your voices over the written Word of God.

  • You still haven't pointed out any lies - do you care to withdraw your false witness against me?

  • Jesus's words...take up your cross and follow me. Was he actually telling people that they must go and get a cross and carry it on their backs the way he did? Absolutely not.

It is clear that you do not have the ability to read and comprehend or the holy spirit which allows it. And for the record, the verse mentioned above has alot to do with TITHING. Stop using the word of God to justify your foolishness and try to read and understand what is written in your bible.

  • pierce -

Clearly the Spirit moves you to disregard or twist the meaning of Jesus's words. That's fine, but why have a bible if it's only full of misleading exaggerations? Why can't you have faith that Jesus just say what He means?

  • Thank you so much for this!

  • You are welcome! Preacher Dan is the only one I know who is passing along the authentic teachings of Jesus.

  • It's funny how they ignore Jesus! Classic.

  • It seems the most virulent Christians can't stand jesus or his teachings. That's why they prefer the Old Testament and Paul and Revelations.
