My map on Minecraft has a swamp, with lots of mushrooms, my spawn point, an ocean on one side, a steep mountain on the other, with many other steep mountains. My first day, I notice there was lava pouring out of a mountain, very close to a cave where part of a body of water was inside. I was surprised to find such things.

You can also grow flowers and tall grass by using bone meal on a grass block. Oh and can pick up tall grass by hitting them with shears. Just some more basic minecraft knowlege that a lot of people might not know about.
