The reporter at 6:33 whom Natalie says "joined the NewsCenter 5 family from Denver this summer, and is getting her first taste of New England weather" is Jane Hampden. She was a short-lived WCVB newscaster, whose tenure was only from July 1991 to January 1992. Primarily, Jane was Dawn Fratangelo's official replacement on the weekend newscasts, and I believe Brian Leary did anchor with her as well. I seem to remember her anchoring alone in the fall, though.
I lived part-time on Cape Cod from 1982 to 1997. Our family rode out hurricane Bob >1 mile from Vineyard sound in East Falmouth. It was very bad right along the coast, compared to inland areas. WInd gusts were over 110 mph and there were tornados just 1/2 mile away. I was 13.
@PositivelyBored I was 15 and lived on the coast (armpit) of the cape. 4ft of water rolled down my street. My basement filled up and I lost 3/4 of my stuff. I'm not looking forward to Earl.
Thanks for the post. i was 9 at the time... experiencing hurricane bob was the spring board for me becoming a weather nut...still one today.... hence I searched this video. I;m such a nerd.
@rootsmanuva82 Ur not alone, fellow weather nut. :P I think this was the same hurricane that caused me to study and follow hurricanes on my Atlas map throughout my school years. BTW, I was 5 when Hurricane Bob hit.
He did back in 1997. He was (IIRC) married to Emily Rooney, who just came back to Boston from NY to start her new show on WGBH, better known as /Greater Boston/ right before/after he passed on.
