  • It was an F5, not F4

  • let's go i don't wanna see this! 0:13

  • "We need to be in your basement; lets go I don't want to see this!" lol

  • @deoduceassassin no, its Please be in your basement

  • What! -NO Torndao Sirens, Not Cool!

  • @HyperFoxTails there are sirens!

  • Scary.....

  • The official wind estimated noted by Wurman in 1997,2001 & 2007 was 301 +- 20mph at 32 meters above ground. Winds were estimated to be lower at ground level. As far as the rest of your statement regarding strongest on record and rating based on damaged, I have been well aware of that for several years now. I'm also aware that many tornados actually may be the strongest on record but we will never know for sure. Nothing has matched the damage noted by NWS emp. who surveyed the Jarrell tornado.

  • I saw my first tornado in Missouri in 1965. We vere visiting my Granddad's family, and we could see it from the car. I was only about 5-6 years old, but I knew everyone seemed very worried. It was a wedge, and we could only see it when the lightning flashed. Great video, thanks for posting, and greetings from Texas and Tornado Alley.

  • @DraconisTheDragon no this was a f-5. in Canada we still use the original fajita scale. a EF-5 is 200+mph F-5 i think is 265mph to 318mph

  • @RoSs3897 lmao fajita scale huh??

  • i cant hear the freight train all i can hear is the goddamn ringing sound >.<

  • it looks like its getting a bit closer to you guys in that vid lol

  • Whats that beeping noise? Is it a siren or something??

  • @Droideka133 Sounds like the beep tone when someone leaves a car door open. I have a feeling that's what it is. Tornado sirens don't have that high of a pitch tone when they sound. They sound more like the World War 2 sirens of the past.

  • Nope, there was no 316mph windspeed measurement on the ground or above ground with this tornado, it's a lie.

  • the tornado rip the house roof off, " damn i just wanted to ask if they had any coffe" xD

  • It's a tornadoe, eh.

  • this actually levels my house and my parents were the only two in the basement out of the four houses that got levelled

  • This tornado had a wind speed of 316

    The record is 318

  • @ferrarimike23: actually, that's not true.

  • @Dazarooni Actually it is considering that neither tornado had doppler measurements taken on the ground. The windspeeds are accurate but neither tornado has a confirmed ground windspeed measurement. I've looked it up.

  • @ferrarimike23 I read alot on this tornado and have not that doppler radar was used on this tornado. Where did you get your information on the 316. Plus your information of 318 is incorrect. The 1999 Ok City tornado has the highest wind spead measured at 302 (+/- 20 mph) 100 meters from ground level. The windspeed on the ground was assumed to be lower.

  • @GOODY61

The 'Official' highest wind speeds in the May 3rd OKC tornado were between 302 mph and 314 mph at 50 ft agl. (Re NOAA)

Some Doppler estimates go as high as 318 mph. (some as low as 261... the intensity fluctuated greatly as it traveled N.E.)

Either way it is the strongest tornado on record.

And the highest wind speeds ever recorded on this planet.

The Fujita scale is ALWAYS an estimate based on damage. (after the fact)

It is never an empirical, non-subjective, number.

  • f-5 it was

  • was this in canada?

  • @Eric23er yes, in Elie, Manitoba

  • that had to be an F5 tornado. Glad you aren't dead. :)

  • I can fit four fingers in my ass

  • ya dont use wikipedia scientists ofent update wikipedia so use an outdated book instead.

  • @NielsShoe

Wikipedia is widely known as being a rather inaccurate source. Many schools for example don't allow students to use it as a source when they do research projects.

  • There's not much difference between the Fujita Scale and the Enhanced Fujita scale. It's like Photoshop CS4 vs. CS5. There's some new and cool features on CS5, but functionally, it's the exact same program as the version before it. So the tornado featured here is indeed an F5/EF5.

  • @AtarahDerek

Ok, this is off topic, but they came out with, but they already came out with CS5?

  • @dragonridley Yep, it's officially been released. Just this month, in fact. You can remove that whole tornado in just a few clicks with the new content aware feature.

  • I'm pretty sure this was an F17

Now can u dig that sucka!!!!

  • @ferrarimike23 It's throwing missiles, not dropping bombs. ;)

  • i just imagined the house flying away ROFL! pure the wizard of oz lol

  • Okay! I'm tired of all this EF/F scale arguements. PLEASE STOP

  • @AirRaider57 I'm not joking. This is an F-5 geez. CANADA STILL USES F5

  • Fujita scale

  • Canada never uses EF scale.

  • omg. this wasnt an EF5, this was a F5.

    thats different! Search in wikipedia

  • @BarrieStylez

While you're right that it was an F5 and not an EF5 Wikipedia is not the source to use.

  • this wasn't EF4 it was EF5

  • @firealarmfreak5

The tornado was originally rated F4 but further analysis of the damage as well as video of the tornado lead to it being upgraded to F5 later that year.

  • @tchmotors not really because canada hasn't adopted the enhanced fujita scale so its just a F5

  • @mrJCU that made me lol

  • There's been at least 1 winter tornado, I believe it was documented in New Brunswick, where winters generally are not as harsh as they are here on the prairies.

  • OMG that was huge

  • LOL! Really got your panties in a bunch didn't ya, pansy!...haha It says NOTHING about winter tornadoes in Canada on Wikipedia. Guess you need to learn to read.

  • HES A RETARD xD

  • Oh no! The tornado went sideways!

It was upgraded to an F5 by Environment Canada shortly after the initial rating. I think it did F5 damage because it meandered around Elie and hit it more than one. From watching YouTube video of this same tornado (justin1569's in fact), it didn't move much.

  • Tornado's although rare can even be spotted during the winter. Its all how warm westerly air collides with cold canadian air. The result in such extreme differences is powerful atmospheric phenomena such as microbursts and in this case a seriously strong tornado.

  • The collision of warm an cold air generates thunderstorms but is not the direct cause of tornadoes. The key ingredient in producing a supercell is wind shear.

  • i can't believe i forgot about that lol, and i just studied about that too...the updrafts and the weak to strong windshears

  • Sorry, there is no such thing as a "winter tornado" in Canada...

  • there could be its just rare

  • No it's not rare. It simply doesn't happen. Do you know anything about weather at all?

  • There are tornadoes in winter too man... just way harder to achieve the right mix of air flows.

  • There have NEVER been winter tornados in Canada. Not even one documented case. There won't be either. If you know anything about weather systems, you know this is true.

  • I was talking about a U.S. winter mate. Of course we will never get a tornado in winter here in Canada, that is until the Earth warms up enough. "If you know anything about weather systems, you know this is true." - you are just looking for an argument there, no?

  • In the US, of course there will be tornados all year 'round. I'm just saying, up here, it's not going to happen.

  • you have to have a perfect mix of air flows im not sure what they are, i think its warm moist air, cold dry air, and warm dry air you cant get most of these in canada

  • tornadoes in winter? Not in Manitoba bud, do you know how cold it gets here? there can be a week straight of -30 here there will be no tornadoes in that weather.

  • As I was also saying to Stringprodigy, winters aren't cold everywhere. There was no specific speech about Canadian winters, so I quickly began defending the position that tornadoes do happen in winter, seeing as in some regions winters are mild. Of course you won't see a tornado in -30, I'm not disagreeing with that.

  • really friggin cold, trust me i live here. lol.

  • look up tornadoes in wikipedia you fucken retard

  • we dont get tornados in winter

  • you could tornadoes can happen at any time just its just really rare to happen in winter

  • Because it's summer time you fucking idiot! LOL It's not cold in the summer, dumbass! Seriously, are you THAT stupid?

  • I doubt it's cold all year round. Also, Elie is kinda in southern Manitoba, at about the same latitude as Winnipeg. Even then, tornadoes can form in fairly cold air.

  • This was an F5. Even then, 1/4 mile is generally considered safe when you get closer the danger is from debris. You'd have to get pretty close to be "sucked up"

  • ENHANCED! Not extended, ENHANCED!

  • take off you hoser !

  • who cares whoadopted scales it was a goddamn f5 tornado

  • Canada . HAD NOT ADOPTED THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE . TO MY KNOWLEDGE STILL HAS NOT ADOPTED IT. THIS WAS AN F5 TORNADO

NOT AN EF5 .. In the States it would have been EF5 material. No doubt , but ANYways Canada hasn't adopted the ENHANCED Fujita scale . So its F5

  • Canada doesn't adopt anything that isn't Canadian. They block content from other countries and try to squelch debate that doesn't line up with their fucked up view of Socialism.

  • Since when did this become a political video?? It's unfortunate, but do you not realize how Americanized Canada is? All I can say is Thank god for The Queen...But again, this ain't a political video, so please stick to the topic.

  • How are we fucked up you tard?

  • :) indeed

  • lokky house!

  • It's Enhanced Fujita Scale by the way. This was an EF5. Nice Vid.

  • No, this was an F5 on the Fujita scale. At the time that this tornadoe occured Canada had not yet adopted the new scale.

  • this was a F5 tornado.

  • Its the size on a typical EF3 but but the EF scale has nothing to do with size its an official EF 5 it destroyed everything theirs a vid on youtube of it lifting an entire house whole at at over 100ft it explodes the house into millions of bits.

  • what's with the EF 5? theres no E at the beggining, F mean Fajita

  • Shut up, dude, you're making me hungry. Now I gotta go to Taco Bell and get two Enhanced Fajitas: one steak, one chicken. On a scale of 0 to 5, they're a 4. The al-fresco option makes them 'Enhanced'.

    NOM.

  • Oh my God! Lol,your comment made me laugh my ass off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOLZZZZZZZZZZZZ!~

  • The Enhanced Fujita Scale

  • Comment removed

  • la paure maison !!! mais ca doit faire peur en réalité

  • holy fuck...

  • It was an F5.

  • that a solid F3

  • a good ef2 or ef3

  • It was an F5.

  • still a buttiful funnle...

  • actily w8 a min f5...

  • id have to say a f4 or f3...

  • Gonna give you ppl a little insight before this bullsh*t gets outta hand.

First and foremost.. This was an F5! It was upgraded 3 months after initially being rated F4.

Second, a tornado doesn't have to be large be be an F5. Many f5's have been only few feet wide. This funnel was also well structured as well. Also watch that video of the twister lifting an entire house. W/o a doubt F5 Damage right there.

Lastly, Canada has not yet adopted the EF scale. They still use the original Fujita scale.

  • Finnaly someone that knows exactly what theyre saying before posting something.

  • appearances sure can be decieving-- doesn't look at either ef4 or ef5, more like a strong ef3. Though it certainly was a GORGEOUS tornado.

  • It's actually referenced on Wikipedia's "Tornado Myths" page.

It was an EF5 tornado but it was decieved because it wasn't extremely big.

  • woulded you just freak out!

  • The EF scale is used in Canada. It stands for "EH! FUCK!" which is what Canadians say when they see tornadoes.

  • lol... so when you see a tornado do you say "honey get the gun"

  • The F Scale and the EF Scale are IDENTICAL.

  • no, they are abosultey different in many many ways. Look it up at the NSSL site.

  • its an EF5 U ASSES!

  • Canada does not use the EF scale, the old F scale is still used.

Thus, it is an F5 and NOT and EF-5

  • Dude.. the Fajita scale does not change in any country. It's now the EF scale everywhere.

  • This is wrong. In Europe, beside the EF scale, we use another scale which is more precise because it includes more factors, not only the damage done. It's called TORRO (T) scale.

  • Wrong. Each country's meteorological agency can use whatever method of determining tornado strength that they want. Canada has chosen to stay with the old F Scale.

  • Wow. Once again uTube brings out the best in us.

  • did that house survive?

  • did that house survive?

  • hey bro its an f5

  • it was an F5 but it was later downgraded to and F4.

  • I hear the tornado was actually an F-5

  • it was and F5 but was later downgraded to an

    F4.

  • I had thought it was the other way around.

  • it might have been.

  • Your both wrong. It's EF-4. The new enhanced scale went into effect on 2-1-07.

  • Actually this tornado was in Canada. They still use tho old scale. It was first rated an F4 but later upgraded to an F5.

  • Uh, no. Canada hasn't adopted the Enhanced Fujita Scale. It's an F5.

  • Maybe its me, but that was one of the creeiest videos I've ever seen. cool shots tho

  • lol

  • I love going after Tornados. One of my favorite things to do. I live in the Texas Panhandle, so I see quite a number of them each year.

  • i'm seeing the movie twister right now ^^!

  • movie wasnt that great

  • "I don't want to see this." Tell your girlfriend to stay home next time. What a pussy.

  • lol yeah no shit. id kick em in the nuts

  • this actually got upgraded to an EF5, u had sum balls filmin this monster

  • NICE WOW listen at the blast's of wind

  • wow thats the best tornado video made with a cell phone ive ever seen. what Company and model was it? i need one :D also very nice video, you got really close for that big of a tornado, i would have been at least a mile away.

  • run away! so scary i would hate to be so close!

  • GREAT SHOT OF THE TWISTER!

  • this is so creepy

  • Yeah, I get the guy saying "Please be in your basement! I don't wanna see this!" I saw an F5 tornado go by when I was 12 and didn't really want to watch it, either. Seeing one live makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck.

  • I hope I never have to see one.

  • That is a very awesome tornado!

  • That sucker was SOOOOOOO powerful!

  • holy run already ur to close ahahah well good for u

  • HI I am amazed by this movie!!!It's a terrific tornadoe,I can appear like crazy but since I discovered "twister "movie when I was 8 years old,my dream is to see a real one "all by myself".

Could you help me to know how could I do this???

    My name is Mylene

  • were did you get the videos from

can someone please tell me what website i can find them on and post them on here

    please please please

    ps awsome video

  • why the fuck do people live in areas like this when this shit happens

  • why do people live near rivers or by the sea or in areas like that? it all used to be peaceful, maybe the odd f2 in canada.

  • Dude tornadoes are awesome. I'd give a lot just to live in a place where you didn't have to drive far to see one..

  • how the hell were those houses still there

  • it wasn't as close to those houses as it looks, it had already passed by those houses by this time

  • how would you like it if tornado came at you with 50km/h and sucking you up high int he air?....

  • wow i never hear obout twisters in canada but when i do they are usually like superpowerful f5's

  • What is that high pitch sound in the background? It sounds like an ATI loudspeaker/siren due to the crappy sound.

  • yea its mall but in its way a gonnar

  • Too bad you weren't right in the middle of it. It was an F5 by the way, no laughing matter.

  • its not a contest you fuckin retard

  • RUN!!!

  • imagine just living in that one house and see that WHOLE thing!

  • hey Kansas...this tornado was an F5, seriously. If YOU knew what you were talking about, you'd see the evidence in the many videos on here of the Elie tornado. I have been chasing/studying weather for over 20yrs.

  • i wish i could see a tornado far away from my home and i will watch and eat popcorn and sit on a chair and drink soda...lol :)

  • good idea
