The fantastic fact about music from the 60's is that is was never lip synced it was always straight out tremendous talent. The music from my generation, unfortunate to say, has truly progressed in it's wretchedness. The singers lip sync about things with no meaning in hopes of it selling for profit instead of the love for the music.

@minnowpd Pretty sure this one is credited to Lennon/McCartney and is mostly Paul's. But, yes, Harrison wrote some lovely songs: While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, Here Comes the Sun...
If I could there are those that I would wish immortality on, Judith Duram is one of those that should be forever young. I hate to think of her voice ever fading or leaving this earth,
Gently, lovingly the wind, the spirit within my hand, fills my lungs as the breath that gives life to each borne creation brings forth its "light & love" to forever cast away the "Dark Night of each & every - (sincere & loving) - Soul".
Ok for all you kids here under 40.. THIS is what a REAL singer sounds like. No loud brass, just gentle background ounds to enhance the soft sweet voice
@HoneyDollXO The '60's were such an amazing time, I was in my very early teens - the music from that time was the greatest - I am now 58, and am still a fan of many of the artists that I was when I was so young, The Seekers, Peter Paul & Mary, Joan Baez
@sejd51 Yessss! Her voice trembles so smoothly! Bittersweet memories of my 60's childhood! Turmoil in Vietnam but a lot of peace and joy here despite our concern for the troops of course - I work with Vietnam vets on my job now - they tell me stories I can't forget.
This song reminds me of My Father on December 16, 1944 as an American Infantrymen on the Western Front when the German's launched the "Battle of the Bulge" with 10 Panzer, 16 Infanty and 2 Parachute Divisions...Dan O'Niallain
Why? Any reason? Sir Paul McCartney wrote it in the 60's way after WW II. Your Dad could not have heard this song on the Western Front, may be Lili Marleen or any Bob Hope or Bing Crosby songs rather than the Beatles.
Anyway, salute to your Dad who fought for world peace and democracy as we know it today. Thank you.
@oldiesbutgoodies67 Your dad must have been a hero in the Ardennes Offensive under General Patton? I saw the Band of Brothers and it was truly inspiring - 101st Airbone division.
The boys in The Seekers were always fantastic but wouldn't it have been fun to have heard a recording, or two, with John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Judith Durham? I can only imagine how wonderful that would have been.
Es gibt nur wenige, die mit einer solchen Stimme und Ausstrahlung jemals begnadet waren . Judith Durham gehöhrt ohne Zweifel dazu. Ich liebe ihre Stimme, und ihre natürliche Art.
as in their versions as Divsion 2 and this is Premier League! Its to me a quite 'English' sounding song not something 'transatlantic' (OK I know she was an Aussie but kith and kin ete)
Growing up our whole family has always put on The Seekers or The Beatles. 'Georgie Girl' and 'The Carnival is Over' have always been the favorite seeker songs. And the beatles it was always "yesterday' and 'can't buy me love'. But since then the world has gone very corrupt and i found myself at a stage in my life where Eminem was my favorite artist!! Don't worry though, today i go back to my roots..
At first I thought she didn't see the value in holding the syllable "-day!" in the bridge rather than going down the scale: "-da-ay-ay-ay!" because unlike McCartney she did it the second time rather than the first.
But the fact that she did do it both ways impresses me with her impeccable taste. Holding that note gives a wonderful emphasis to the melody's beauty.
According to fans who have read her biography, it seems that Judith was too busty and shapely for 60s fashionable dresses of 'Swinging London' that were made for Twiggy types. Shame that she thought that she had 'wrong figure'. Anyway, as moomba 67 says back to the music and enjoy Judith's stunning version of this classic. Pure and beautiful.
Behave, PuggyBank and 66rubber ! Never mind admiring Judith's impressive bustline. Focus on a classic song sung beautifully by a great singer. For me, the best version ever of this song. And by the way, a few months after this performance Judith almost had reduction surgery on her 'assets' but cancelled. I bet you two were glad she did!
This is going to sound strange, but it was the Seekers version of Yesterday that was the first version I ever heard of this song, when I was very little.
Beautiful!!!!

Title: "THE WIND, THE SPIRIT WITHIN MY HAND"
Gently, lovingly the wind, the spirit within my hand, fills my lungs as the breath that gives life to each borne creation brings forth its "light & love" to forever cast away the "Dark Night of each & every - (sincere & loving) - Soul".
May it end Forever,
With "light & love",

Amen.
