  • i dont give a crap wether she lip syncs or not it was a fantastic show i enjoyed every minute it was amazing value for money shes a one and only ledgend x

  • In addition, we as audience members see people that are new to the industry and those that have been around for decades, could it be that those that have been around for decades are just that good and make concerts look simple because the artist has performed thousands of times and they tend to make things look very easy?

  • OMG, I love to see Dolly and watch her sing without performing live, and I understand opinions, she's not the only artist in the history of music that has prerecorded tracks. I believe she is focusing on her theme of the tour and folks enjoying the concert. She has added more elements to her show due to the fact that people are in the dumps emotionally and a 3 hour show gives pleasure and enjoyment to the audience members. Lighten up just a bit and read between the lines of the show.

  • oh & also, i'd rather hear Dolly lipsync the songs she ACTUALLY SANG AND WROTE to make the show the best it can be, then to hear Shania Twain on tour (who autotunes everything, even when she's live!), or Taylor Swift who doesn't lipsync but when I saw her was totally disappointed cause she couldn't hit a single note or stay in key for her life. Dolly does what she can to make it good, without sounding like crap like Taylor or faking her own vocals like Shania. At least when she sang it was real.

  • ... (cntd) had to cancel her tv show in the '70s because of the stress it created on her throat and vocal chords. Her job is to sing, if she sang 20 something songs live every night she would have no voice left to do her job! She still tours because her real fans appreciate the effort that goes into singing those songs in the first place, even if most aren't live. And we appreciate her in general. Don't go if you don't like it. But leave her alone, it's not her fault.

  • It's a wellknown fact that she has to lipsynch parts of her tour. Not all of it though. Listen to different performances of Stairway To Heaven or Little Sparrow or My Tn Mountain Home, from this same tour. They're not all synched. Most are, but some aren't. They're telling you right here that she has to mime a lot of her songs, if you want a fully live show you should've googled something about this tour and then not went if you hate miming so badly. She's had vocal problems for years (she even

  • Just saw her at O2 in London - well, the first half. It was so obviously lip synched that it didn't seem worth staying for the second half. Disappointing, but it's a very long gruelling tour of a long show with a lot of demanding songs - it wouldn't be physically or vocally possible for a 65 year old woman to get through the tour if she sang everything live. I still think she's great but wish I hadn't spent £75 on going to see her mime.

  • @davmilmcc Well Bette Midler is the same age and still sings 100% live during her concerts, as does Liza Minnelli! I love Dolly, but I have to agree that lareg portions of her shows are lip synced. I don't understand why though, as she can still sing very well!

  • I went to the opening knoxville show! She did lip-synch but she is 65 years old would you rather be in the same room with her for 3 hours and have and hour of lip-syncing or go for an hours and her HER sing the whole time! I think is would be hard for anyone to stand or dance around on stage when there 65 and not have a little help! I loved EVERY second i was in the room with her!!!! I think most of her fans will stand by her no matter what!

    I will always love Dolly!!!!

  • @couponinganddolly I was at the Knoxville show too and was close enough to the stage... 14th row... to really be able to tell that she lip-synced... a lot! I agree 100% with you! She was dancing around more than my Granny did when she was 65! It was a great show and 100% DOLLY!! Even if she lip-syncs, at least it's still her voice, not a computer-aided version of it. I loved every second and wish I could see it again!

  • @johnchs I wasnt that close but I could kind of tell But oh how I wish I could relive that over and over agian! I was soooo glad I was in the same room with her! and still can't believe it!

  • Guys, she lip synchs. It's not "LIES!!!!" and the guy in this video is not "a bitter queen". It's just the truth. Her vocals for every song are pre-recorded and some have been used on tours as far back as 2004. Do a tiny bit of research - watch some YouTube videos, perhaps - and see for yourself.

  • LIES!!!!! She's not a lip syncher it's not what pure country artists like her do.

  • ....also to all of you who keep saying how "HUGE" Dolly fans you are... why are you talking about her on here like you are.... SHAME ON YOU. I wouldn't want you to be my fans if you were trying to discredit me or my form of entertainment. As a Fan u support your artist 100% and you don't post negative comments about them because you think they should be doing more..... if your that unhappy ... why do you keep going back ????

  • Being such a fan of Dolly Parton means holding her up to a higher standard. She is CAPABLE of much more, and thus more should be expected. She is one of the most dizzingly talented musicians, not only of her genre, but of our generation. I would put her in a class with the Beatles, Bob Dylan, etc., who, likewise, were at the top of their respective genre. I think that just accepting any old thing that an entertainer or a musician churns out, just because it's them, is what's shameful.

  • (cont). You should learn the difference between "negative comments", and honest and thoughtful criticism. Supporting someone "100 percent", as you suggest, when they offer inferior work, isn't really honest or helpful. As I said, I personally think, even at 65, and with more limitation on her vocal chords than she once had, Dolly Parton is capable of MUCH more. I frankly don't like her lipsynching because I think it is beneath her.

  • TO ALL OF U.... if ANYONE.... has Earned the RIGHT to lip Sync... it is Dolly Parton. Shes 65 shes just trying to sustain her voice. Quit picking on her and just enjoy that shes still touring and trying when so many artist her age are sitting at home getting fat and dieing!!! ENJOY HER WHILE YOU HAVE HER PEOPLE.

  • She NEVER syncs . She's 100% real

  • This really isn't news ... Dolly has had severe vocal node issues since the mid 1970's, but she has opted not to have surgery because of the risk to a singer's voice (surgery virtually ended Julie Andrews' singing career). Because of this, I doubt if Dolly could do a complete concert let alone an entire world tour! But Dolly wants the interaction with her fans. It is entertainment -- at least the vocals are new recordings.

  • @ShrvHighlander The vocals largely AREN'T new recordings. I Will Always Love You, Coat of Many Colors, Jolene, 9 to 5, Here You Come Again, Little Sparrow, etc, are the same recordings she's been miming to for the past six or seven years. The Better Day songs are the album vocals, as is Better Get to Livin'. The songs that are 'new' to the set (ie Light of a Clear Blue Morning etc) are newly recorded vocals, yes, but none of it's authentic and it's marketed as live performance, which is a cheat.

  • @ja2cookiedough Hmmm.... her version of "Here You Come Again" in 2005 in Dallas was different than her version in 2006. Still ... given a choice of seeing her (but lip-synch) or not (because she could not reliably complete an entire concert), I would rather see her lip-synch. But hey, that's just me ....

  • Unfortunately, the legacy of the authentic show is lost, Larry. For Dolly now - it's about the bigger production and the fake performances. It's just too bad. I saw her in Atlanta in early August on the Better Day Tour - and she "fake" played about 9 instruments and lip synced large portions of her show. I was quite dismayed.

  • @tallie72 I was in Atlanta also and saw the harmonica mishap. Dolly has admitted that she pantomime many of the instruments. I didn't feel that she was lip syncing and if she in fact was it was still the best concert I have ever been to. The only thing I would have changed was the temperature.

  • I couldn't agree more with the comments voiced here. I've been a huge Dolly Parton fan since the release of "Jolene", but opted not to see her live when her last tour made its way through my area for precisely that reason. And to be honest, I'm not quite sure *why* Dolly lipsynchs. True, shes sixty-something now, and her vocal chords aren't as resilient as they once were, but that couldn't matter less! I look at Dolly's predacessors, people like Mother Maybelle Carter and Kitty Wells...

  • ...(cont)...who continued to perform in their 60s, 70s and 80s, and even if their voices cracked here and there, and even if they forgot a lyric or two occasionally, it only enhanced the show! It was part of the live concert experience, and the spontaneity is part of the reason why we attend concerts. Also, despite Dolly's many other talents, she is absolutely awful at lipsynching, always seems to have keeping on track with the the recording, to the point where it becomes painfully obvious..

  • ...that she's lipsynching. I personally think she should just sing it live and let any flubs be part of the show. (It isn't like the audience would hold those kinds of things against her).

  • @mthivier I am a huge fan of Dolly myself, and couldn't agree with you more. She doesn't sing live AT ALL on the Better Day World Tour, nor did she sing live AT ALL on tour as far back as 2004. She uses the same pre-recorded tracks tour after tour, and on the Backwoods Barbie and now Better Day tours, she's lip-synching to the ALBUM vocals of the new songs! It beggars belief, and it's such a shame because it doesn't have to be that way.

  • @mthivier I've said time and again, if her voice can't sustain a world tour, then don't do a world tour. Scale it down, do a small number of shows, do them LIVE and give people what they deserve since they're parting with no small amount of money. It's a cheat, it really is. Even the Live in London CD didn't have a single live performance on it.
