Can someone explain to me? At 2:24 he is scratching on the right deck while the left deck plays the beat... then he reverses the left deck and picks it up.. you can clearly tell it is playing in reverse and you can see it spinning backwards. He puts it back down, then at 2:45 he starts scratching the left deck but you can still hear the beat playing as if the beat was coming from somewhere else? a laptop? who knows... what the FUK??

@ricktbdgc 1st look at the mixer on 1:41. 2nd: its in the year 1991, a laptop?? now way. 3th: the beat at 2:45 ist coming from the left deck! at 2:29 you can hear the reverse. an btw. the decks got the same beat ;)

@ricktbdgc Easy. the same records playing on both decks, he hits the stop button on the left deck and spins it in reverse while he's putting it on the right side (he skoots the mixer over to where the left deck was) Then he takes the record that was playing reverse off of the left(now right as well) deck.

There was just probably too much going on at the time and you didnt notice that he moved the mixer over and out the left deck inbetween. This was 1991 and laptop djing was non existant.

Q-Bert was seriously on some other level. Coming in there with the record with the hole drilled in it off-center so it gets that crazy "wa-wa" sound. Then he's messin with a 45 later in the set. And he tops it all with the needle dragging scratch, gettin dumb with the tone arm. Q didn't view the turntable with a normal eye. He looked at it with his Alien-like vision and saw a world of potential with what is nothing more than a record player with pitch control. Amazing!

Keep in mind.. this is 1991.. they had only been scracthing at the DMCs for 5 years.. watch a recent video of Q-Bert.. his style is mad refined.. a serious art. Unbelievable raw talent, scratching is certainly a natural talent, almost impossible to be taught.
