  • I was in VP8, the first squadron to fly the P-3 operationally. I wonder if VP8 will get the P8 first. Next, I wonder if the P8 will have an airline style head.

  • 3:30 "Flight Engineer Set 1010 TIT... oh wait.. where's the FE?! ABORT ABORT!!"

  • Brakes brakes...

  • P8 is a WHITE ELEPHANT.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to replace a naval 4 engine turboprop with a wide 737-body airliner with 2 jet engines.

    IMPOSSIBLE

  • I talk to alot of P-3 crews, when they come to pick up their aircraft. They WONT fly the P-8 and rather stay in the P-3

  • incledible, a plane that actually takes off, what an archivement

  • @toddi1971 What is that supposed to mean?

  • Thank god the Navy chose a Boeing and not like the Air Force who will replaced the KC-135 tankers with an Airbus.

  • Well, the Airbus tankers will be built in the US as I understand, and do you have any idea of how much of Boeings parts that are made outside the US? You want you Europe to buy your shit, but you are not returning the favour? Perhasp we should back out of the JSF and buy Eurofighter? How many American jobs would go down the toilet then?

  • @Sooksawaspakdee961

You mean Air Farce? haha I m just kididng.. can't resist that joke.

  • @Sooksawaspakdee961 I don't mean to be unpatriotic and all that, but the Airbus KC-135 is better then the 767 tanker Boeing is offering (and the air force is getting). Personally, I'm sick of all this American is better then anything else because it's American. I think it is time we start acknowledging when others have done it better, so we get the better equipment. That said, the P-3 is getting old and the P-8 is a fantastic replacement.

  • Hey JackA**, the KC-135 IS made by Boeing.. good job... go eat your granola you hippie Fu*k

  • a commercial plane to fuck terrorists in the ass

  • @lawker777 Because they fucked us in the ass with commercial airplanes, four times.

  • @scaremengaviation good point

  • yeah it looks like a commercial airplane

  • 737

  • Sounds like an S-3...

  • This is LAUGHABLE. This 737 (Yes, 737) will not be able to fly the missions that the P-3 does. BAD DECISION, NAVY!

  • I love how positive comments towards keeping the P-3 receive negative feedback. Get your shit together people. The P-8 is a stupid program.

  • My son is in VP-30 right now. Non-acoustic AW. He can't wait to get into the P-8. Thanks for the video. I also saw some cool pics of the P-8 flying over Whidbey Island. GO NAVY! HOOYAH!

  • looks nice

  • you said in the video "why navy?" and i have an answer....because the USN is THE SHIT!

  • well it is a anti submarine

  • there's another good reason

  • Listen more closely... the phrase is "Fly Navy." I would not have gone to all this trouble if I were not a fan of the P-8A and Naval Aviation in general.

  • About time, we need to replace the P-3s. I'm glad we did it now, with all this computer technology. Also, I mean seriously, what is cooler than a passenger jet 737 with missiles on it? I don't think anything can beat that. And, guys who fly this plane barely have to do any training when they wanna go to the airlines.

  • That's a crazy cool color.

  • It's primer.

  • haha i kinda figured. such an odd color for a finished plane and when i saw this was a first flight, i knew that probably wasn't the finish color.

    it is cool looking though.

  • so what is so special about this plane it looks like any other plane.

  • It can dive underwater and shoot water vortecies like aquaman.

  • I look this up on Wikipedia, it says it's amid to find and destroy submarines.

  • Bullshit

You dont need a plane that big for finding submarines.

I think they are up to something.

  • I work on this plane. It's a sub hunter.

  • explain why then

  • I'm a retired P-3 flight engineer so I can help you understand this. One: the P-8 can stay aloft longer with inflight refueling thus less new aircraft are needed. Two: The Navy is using an existing airframe (737) so less money is required than developing a brand new design, which takes longer and more money. Three: Bigger payload which means we can provide more influence for bad guys to be good (or be dead). For those who say this is a waste of taxpayer money..you don't know economics.

  • Ya you could definitely carry more fuel and cargo.

I can see how it saves money also.

    Thanks for clearing it up

  • @PreCurSeD it can also drop 500 pound bombs on land maybe bigger bombs

  • Yep, there goes your tax dollars down the drain.

  • This is an AMERICAN company and people working here have pride in their work. I get personal satisfaction in the work I do for Boeing.

  • who do you think pays for them before the AMERICAN COMPANY produces it??

  • I imagine your still driving the first car you ever got, because getting anything to replace it would be "money down the drain".

  • we need this new plane.

    I fly on P-3's, I'm a AW.

The P-3s have been out since the since the 1960s...the first flight for them was in 59'...im tired of using old ass equiptment.

this is not a waste of tax dollars. we need this

  • YES YES YES ! We gonna get eight of these and more may be bought after !

  • YES!
