  • two too many

  • Jeff Goldblum's narrating @ 2:05 kills me

  • hi guys to see a new video about the battle of mannasas(the first battle of the civil war) come visit srvztube channel to watch Battle of Manassas reenactment 150th Anniversary. (to see a REAL reenacment

  • Lamar was a two-time state yelling champion, who had dreams of someday finding a big box of money.

  • ".....and one year all three!" LOL!!!!!

  • i have dreams of someday finding a big box of money too.

  • farbs ;) haha...too bad this is how most of the "serious" reenactors act as well...funny stuff.

  • Oh my god, Jay Johnson's speech at 3:06 is SO FUCKING HILARIOUS How does someone do such an amazing line delivery?

  • My favorite part of this sketch: seeing a Lincoln impersonator choking a black Union soldier. One of the best subtle gags in the show's history.

  • Mama-

Heres a funny postcard. I baut.

  • I am a reenactor and found this funny, But the coments from some assholes really piss me off. Assholes, dont talk shit about history, reenactors, or ancestors. Have some respect. Immature bitches.

  • I think this is making fun of Ken Burns a lot too!

    Ha ha ha!

  • ***YAWN***

  • there should be a full reenactment. where are the slaves? and all you fraggles crying about how you lost relatives... you aren't affected. furthermore, they deserved their deaths. welcome to the union, motherfuckers.

  • @sebastski Fuck off. Dont be an immature bitch. We do this for our love of who we are and who our ancestors were. The Union army was just liek the british army in revolution. Tyrants jsut like King George. So, you must support tyrants and the british loyalists.

  • I respect the one poster below who is a reenactor and can also see the humor in this sketch, which is making fun of people's foibles and not mocking soldiers. I'd hate any sketch that mocks people who serve their country. But this is funny.

  • is that jeff goldblum's voice reading the post card

  • @princewes Yes, he is also the narrator.

  • Whether you find this skit amusing or not has nothing to do with patriotism or appreciating U.S. History. It's about being able to laugh at yourself. Lincoln himself was a master of this actually. If anyone needs to learn a lesson from history and Mr. Lincoln, it's that you do indeed need to take life and war seriously, but you can't forget how to laugh too.

  • Ok people so back how funny this sketch is huh!!!! huh?!?!?!?!?!?!? continue your bickering forum somewhere else eh?!!?

  • I am a huge fan of Mr. Show and American History. I would not take this so personal. Being from New Orleans and having a father who participates in the Sons of the Confederacy, I do have a bit of southern pride concerning the Civil War. I am glad there are dedicated people who keep history alive. But the sketch is just a joke. There's 4 seasons of Mr. Show poking fun at everything American. It's a great nation to be a part of, and to rib a little as well.

  • @ordredutemple1119 You're a moron. I'm a vet and think this is hilarious. If you think finding humor in this means you are disloyal to this country, then you're just a complete dope. I'm sure you are one of the people that runs around in their Halloween costumes and thinks that you're "honoring" your country by doing so. Grow up.

  • @XhockeyfightX hey jackass I lost seven family members in the civil war.... three on my dads side and four on my moms side... so how about tou shove your cock down your throat if you had one... its jackasses like you that encourage this shit... it dishonors people like my ancestors who actually were killed... and no i do not run around in my "halloween costume"... kiss my ass you peice of shit

  • @ordredutemple1119 You mad bro? Sorry you lost those close family members of yours. I'm sure it devastated you.

  • @ordredutemple1119

You lost seven family members in the civil war? So what are you saying, this is too soon?

  • @ordredutemple1119 This is a hilarious comment because the Confederacy was by definition not loyal to the United States!

  • Jay giving the speech is amazing.

  • What the fuck is going on here in the comments.

  • Runkleforskin is a prime example of what I said, that those who find great humor in this lack the willingness or ability to use much brain power. No wonder our nation was so willing to elect a fraud to the White House and Congress. We have boys like him making decisions. Yeah, runkle forskin, that's a name that adolescents would find cool to use as a alias. Time to go such your thumb kid, and grow out of your little psycho obsession with porn and profanity

And the fact he has to satisfy the urge to keep posting back shows that lack of maturity, esp. since he won't see me here ever again

  • @barry1607VA lying POS go play with your dolls and watch porn elsewhere, quit sending me private messages telling me what you want to do with my naked body. I don't think all of the people reading your stupid comments know exactly what kind of sick pervert you are.

  • Not only is this seemingly making comedy relief out of re-enacting, but also the existence of educational TV & documentaries... but the subtile use of the reference to Ken Burns documentary and the end scene alluding to PBS pledge drives may require a little more use of brain power then those who may find this top quality humor are willing or able to use

  • This sketch really shows that Mr. Show is the closest American Comedians got to recreating Monty Python. That of course is the highest form of compliment towards a sketch comedy show. This makes "Saturday Night Live" look like "The Amanda Show".

  • As a "reenactor", I too love this clip and think it's hilarious. Sadly, it is so true. The state of our "hobby" is ridiculous. Mainstream events now resemble a county fair or a circus than a historical event. And the corny, farby, and over-the-top acting during battle scenes is almost nauseating. Not to mention the majority of the participants are largely overweight and incredibly incorrect when it comes to uniforms and equipment. I now stick to mainly living histories and campaigner events.

  • I had forgotten how funny Mr. Show was. I miss it. Thanks for showing this video. :)

  • Anyone notice that Lincoln is about to rifle butt the black guy during the battle? hahahaha

  • Afowl. Askew, Lol

  • genius.

  • a highschool dropout and now a highschool teacher. Thats great the sad thing is my dad wants me to be a highschool teacher

  • Is it just me or does that guy on the right at 2:35 look like Derrick from mega64?

  • as a reenactor this is hillarious

  • Jeff Goldblum shows up the strangest places, and I salute him for it.

  • it's true,

you are all just characters in my dream.

    lucid the novel . com

  • It's so depressing I thought one of the best jokes was the misspelling of "You're" on the postcard. Depressing for me because I think grammar is funny.

  • no, that's french resistance

  • ok at first i thought it was a little insulting but you cant help but to laugh at it, its fuckin hilarious

  • omg this is funny

    im a civil war reenactor

  • "They fought a life battle, against death" Mr show is legendary

  • LOL at Jeff Goldblum reading the postcard.

  • The car alarm is hillarious!

  • such an amazing show

  • @GraceOfTheWitch What ACW reenactor did u grow up with? Your mother isn't one nor am I. I'm just a train nut who also happens to have a lifelong interest in the Civil War. SciFi geeks are OK and ACW reenactors are kinda weird (especially the old fat ones like me which is why I avoided that scene), but you RenScots are the real nut jobs. Eating hagus all the time -- geez, I'd rather chew on hardtack!! Or at least if I had teeth I would. And y did u post this 3 times? its not that funny.

  • Comment removed

  • Having grown up with a Civil War reenactor, being an old Sci Fi geek who still regularly attends cons, and being a Renaissance period reenactor, all I say is... HEY!! I resemble... er... resent that!

Civlilwar1263... My dad is a reenactor, I'm a late Renaissance reenactor... We're all a bunch of nut jobs! Get used to it. I wear my kilt and get people who say "I bet you loved Braveheart!" I want to punch those people...

  • "These guys always show up at our Renaissance fair, and they pretend that they've been transported from some other time, and then they try to engage us in battle."

  • I think that humor is a good thing, but it is funnier when it is someone who appreciates his subject and is not jus making fun of his subject. I believe that is what Civilwar1263 is trying to say. It is the spirit in which gest is made.

  • @Shanniereb Ahh, finally! Someone with some eloquence and common sense!

Tell us more things about this "gest."

  • I was in the Civil War and am not offended, except by the space people who confuse and delight me. Love and kisses, Shotty. PS: Where can I get some Teaching By Billiards tapes?

  • everything was going fine but someone bayonetted a tire on a car that caused some problems for a family of 5

  • lol the king bitch slapped the phaser out of that nerds hand

  • @civilwar1263 If you feel that you relate to the people in this sketch, then I have nothing to apologize for. Also, posting your point multiple times doesn't help your case.

  • @FiveInchTaint You're being way too polite to this NUT JOB.

  • @civilwar1263 sir i do not relate myself to the people in this video this is nothing like a reenactment so learn the facts before you post something and our point is to honor veterans so you should know better yourself.

  • @civilwar1263

I think you're missing the whole point that this is comedy.

  • @civilwar1263: Dude, grow a set. It's all in fun. Don't get your cannon balls all tied up over this...because, "HELLO!" Welcome to the internet, for Lincoln's sake...assbag...

  • @mrlostnphound SIR YOU R A DISCRACE TO AMERICA IT IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT MAKE THIS COUNTRY SUCK!! YOU HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THE ONES WHO HAVE PROTECTED THIS COUNTRY SO YOU CAN SIT HERE ON YOUR COMPUTER AND CALL PEOPLE NUT JOBS. THERE ARE YOUNG PEOPLE DIEING OVER THERE....AND BY THE WAY ITS NOT THE VIDEO THAT MAKES ME SO MAD ITS YOU WHO HAS TO ACT THIS WAY AND MAKE THIS COUNTRY HORRIBLE.

  • @civilwar1263 I didn't know Civil War reenactors protected this country. We should have a holiday for them.

  • @civilwar1263 Surely you could expand your repertoire into reenacting other wars you could get ridiculed for.

  • @civilwar1263 You homo, play fighting :b why dont you join the military and do it for real pussy.

  • @Runkleforskin

Of the 15 members of my living history organization, 6 are retired military, and 2 are currently active duty. I have meet Marines, Navy Seals, Air Force, Army Rangers, and students at West Point, VMI, and Annapolis who do this "play fighting".... I would make sure I know just who I call a pussy next time.... for all you know civilwar1263 IS in the military

  • @barry1607VA He's a pussy, your a pussy. You two should get together and mock star wars you fags.

  • @Runkleforskin

Hey ass wipe... you must not have much of a brain or you are too lazy to read....

So here it is for you, shut the hell up, and think twice about who you called a pussy...

Did I mention I was a SEAL? Oh yeah, who's a puss fag now, piece of rat shit

  • @barry1607VA a seal my ass, fucking liar. you are just a 12 yr old cocksucker who watches tranny porn in his closet. dont try to talk with the big boys.. you will just get smashed.

  • @Runkleforskin

There there is a response that lacks any form of intelligence. Usually those that can only question some one's sexuality or man hood are themselves acting 12 years old --- or younger in this case, and making up for deficiencies. I've heard better responses out of 8 year olds.

OK, I admit I wasn't a SEAL, but I made you question your impulsive, child like emotional response. So if you feel the need to keep responding when your lack of IQ is called out, go right a head

  • @barry1607VA and I am sure you have heard better out of 8 year olds, alot of them too. Sick pedo's like yourself hear all kinds of "kid" blabber don't you. FREAK.!

  • @civilwar1263 You should have two Lincoln's and some space people... I'd come see that!

  • @civilwar1263 Have to agree with you bro, but what can you do people will make fun of people nothing you can really do about it. You should be proud of trying to educate the public and kids especially about the civil war (and lets be honest a lot of them just bimbo their way through life without a clue whats going on outside their car window never mind what happened in the civil war). Maybe if more people payed attention to whats going on around them there would never have been a civil war!

  • @civilwar1263 I've done Civil War reenacting for 14 years now...and if you have been to more than one reenactment as a reenactor you would know that there are some weird ass people that do this hobby, and some true nut cases that are reenactors. And if you dont think so then heres a hint...you're one of them....

  • thousands would come and pretend to be brave

  • rofl, the battle took place in the parking lot bit made me crack up like no tomorrow. Perfectly timed car alarm XD

  • I heard that Trekkies actually did this. Has anyone else heard of this?

  • High school drop out, current high school teacher! Very funny!

  • They re-enact to remember those who died to change this country, ourlives, and the world forever. They aren't pretending to be brave, they are remembering, and getting as close to history as they can.

  • @kdkpt It's a joke. LIghten up.

  • I love how it appears that he is being interviewed in a study or library, but then turns out to be the doctors office! Fuckin' hilarious.

  • jeff goldblum reading the post card?

  • @batboy33 I never noticed it before but i think you must be right, it sounds exactly like him

  • @batboy33 yeah they confirm that in the dvd commentary :)

  • @graaar great job. uh, great job. mm, great job. great job. great job

  • @batboy33 Thanks coach z.

  • This is produced close enough to Ken Burns' style that it took me a while to catch on! Nice job. We're about to release the feature "Dog Jack" in which we spent many a memorable day with reenactors from all over the country.

  • For this was a day that would not only see north against south, but Lincoln against Lincoln.

  • 2:30

  • I agree with George Carlin when he was talking about how dumb these "re-enactments" are and how they should use real ammunition if they are so concerned about authenticity.

  • Cool story bro.

  • @zenrarity

    misc brah?

  • I don't know what you're referring to, but I'll just go ahead and say "Yessuh!"

  • your such a douche

  • "Lamar was a two-time state yelling champion, who had dreams of someday finding a box of money"

  • I thought I was the only one who had that dream.

    (shrugging shoulders)

  • @catkins9 A dream I, myself, share.

  • @catkins9 That was my all time favorite Mr Show quote!

  • jeff goldbloom doing the reading of the post card?

  • This really does remind me of reenactments. I remember when, during the reenactments of the Revolutionary War, the French General Staff showed up...sort of like the two Lincolns. Then of course, there was the Battle of Grenada Highlands, where a Union Cavalry soldier showed up in line with a group of advancing British Grenadiers - sort of like the space people. Very Well done!

  • They must be reenactors to have hit the nail so squarely on the head.

I'd like a Civil War Reenactment Chess Set - anyone know the number to call?

  • That park ranger could have jumped in there too; I wouldn't have minded that.

  • We simulate the glory of the men who could not be here today.

Jay Johnston's inappropriate emotion is the best thing about this skit, except the straight-faced officer who tries to negotiate between "the civil war chums, the medieval folks, and the space people."

  • the lincoln part killed me

  • Excuses are the what...?

    EXCUSES ARE THE WHHHAAATTTT????

  • Paulgr why do you have to blow that?

  • whammy, what do you mean? just stating fact.

  • according to closed captioning, the guy reading what's on the postcard is Jeff Goldblum. lol.

  • One of three Mr. Show Sketches in which you can see a huge fan of Bob and David, Maynard James Keenan (of Tool), also Ronny Dobbs, and The Coupon

  • One of the greatest sketches of all time, imo.

Who here noticed that the card said "you're new daughter" instead of "your new daughter"?

  • it woudve been funnier if they re-enacted a re-enactment

  • they do something like that in a human giant episode. that shows just like this, basically just as funny

  • Lincoln against Lincoln!

Lincoln had never been at the actual battle in the FOIST PLACE!

    It was two too many!

  • i like how bob's character was a state wide yelling champ and had dreams of finding a box of money.

  • Excellent. Ilove this show. These guys are great!

  • Would I be a total dick if I pointed out that the zip code on the post card can't be a Maryland address?

  • no way, I would consider that an easter egg.

  • Of course, zip codes with '9's at the beginning are in Cali.... good call...

  • Not all of them.

  • Travis would drive the car and photograph him

  • Totally sounds like Jeff Goldblum reading the postcard...

  • That is Jeff Goldblum. Genius call if you ask me.

  • 5:36 haha

  • Comment removed

  • A two time state yelling champion, who had dreams of someday finding a box of money! hahah!

  • lol

  • This country's collective IQ would rise several points if they did that.

  • Bestest sketch comedy show nobody has ever heard of! Tela Dalu Bob and David!

  • as a reenactor this is def. spot on! fucking hilarious!

  • FiveInchTaint, you are the shit! Even your username is the shit. Mr Show rules

  • I love how close this movie is to the real Ken Burns Civil War one. From the stupid subtitles to the famous voiceovers to the following of two people involved, it's impeccable.

    Also hilarious.

  • lol yeah that still picture of Jay Johnston kicking is priceless.

  • lol I have all the DVDs I love this show! Also, Bill Odenkirk was the star trek guy, who writes for the Simpsons and Furutama, funny people came from this show :)

  • This stuff is pure genius! I never laughed so hard than when 2 Lincoln's showed up. Bob Odenkirk is the funniest man alive in my book.

  • Kudos to you,bob is great!

  • Bob playing a character who is "state yelling champion" is pretty hilarious

and the bit at the end where the old guy was filming his parts while waiting for a doctor's appointment is such a classic Mr Show joke, that gets me every time

  • haha, i like the post card

  • As a military veteran, I feel confident in saying that this sketch doesn't make fun of people who died for the country. It makes fun of some of the nut jobs that re-enact the shit. Seriously, fucking lighten up.

  • @FiveInchTaint Thank you.

  • @FiveInchTaint hi im a civil war reenactor and i do not think were nut jobs we are honoring the fallen and trying to educate the public that doesnt know about this stuff so please do not call us nut jobs.

  • @FiveInchTaint i dont believe you are a veteran, but seriously these guys should lighten up. this is hilarious

  • @donmajikjuan Well, Well, believe what you want, but your lack of belief doesn't, in any way, invalidate my DD-214.

And I wasn't a civil war veteran, if that clears anything up.

  • I'm an American History Major who was forced to attend about 10 re-enactments as a child. They are the most boring, ridiculous activity you have ever seen. I love American History, but people who do this are just fanboy cosplayers.

  • what state did you go to one in

  • I went to the '94 Gettysburg Re-enactment when I was 9. I sweat balls for 10 hours and could smell the port-o-potties up to a half mile away. Then, after moving to Florida, I was subjected to "The Battle of Narcoossee Mill" a number of times.

  • oh im a reenactor and i live in florida and i go to the battle of narcosee mill so what about renacting do you think is ridiculous ?

  • *Snicker* Are you serious?

  • yes i am

  • All of it.

  • The car alarm going off during the fight was priceless!!

  • You're not really helping your case with incorrect spelling.

And My god Laugh a Bit.

    David and Bob= Genius

  • hey sarah, lighten the fuck up, its comedy... and take that stick out of your ass

  • this is perfectly in sync with the piece..kudos!

  • I'm with that one dude I wanted to see the sci fi , ren fair and civil war people all going at it , HAHAHAH funny shit

  • one of the best sketches ever from the best sketch show ever!

  • I am a re-enactor's daughter, and I've actually seen 90% of this kind of thing happen. xD

  • Holy shit, that's awesome. lol

  • Excuses are the ga-
