  • god that trombone was ghastly..he's no john boice, who played in the 1966 band..

  • I came with my dad every time Buddy played at Disneyland can't count the number of times I have seen Buddy play. My dad started taking me to see big bands when I was only 12 and we continued to see big bands for over 40 years. He passed away two years ago and watching this brings back many great thoughts. Buddy was the best I ever saw, the best left hand ever hope you enjoyed the trip to the past tell others about this great drummer.

  • Possibly the greatest drum solo ever! Fabulous night with incredible music!

  • I was there in 1983 when Barry Kiener was playing the piano and he put in a hell of a piano solo I never heard before.Buddy was doing a different kind of solo but with juggling his sticks around but I cant seem to find that solo on here.He was driving the crowd crazy when he started doing those type of stick tricks but I wish I had a camcorder back then but they were in the 600 dollar range and I couldnt afford one at 12 years old.lol

  • The exact same place I met buddy in 1981..

  • Starting at 8:17 , is that the best single stroke roll ever played ??

  • Oh my goodness i've played on this same stage!! the announcer guy couldn't say my name right lol

  • @thepangmonster Hi my name is Wes I posted this video. This was the night Buddy poured out his hold life of unbelievable talent in that drum solo! You did not make mistakes around him he demanded perfection from his band. Thanks for looking at clip.

  • I used to work at Disneyland on a day shift. Anytime I saw that Buddy Rich and his band were going to be on the Carnation stage, I made it a point to be in the park to watch his show. Always fantastic!

  • Brilliantissimo!!!

  • @descombobulation u crazy

  • Disneyland? "Panichi, then in his early twenties, had joined the band in 1982. His moment of fame came in August 1983, after playing Disneyland. The band had an annual show there, and the 1982 affair had been strained: management had watched aghast as Rich began calling one of the trumpet players a "motherfucker" in front of a child-packed audience. "They forced him to apologise," says Panichi, "and he was furious."

  • Oh my god, that litterally gave me goosebumbs

  • So great! btw. stole the whole band from the lunch room at Berkee.

  • I was there the very next night. There was an older guy and his son (fans) who used to stand behind the bass player in the crowd where I used to stand (all the drummers would always crowd in there). He said to me, "You should have seen Buddy last night...he was on fire! And it will be televised on the Disney channel". I can tell you he was just as great the following night when I saw him. What energy this man had...stunning.

  • Hi

I was siting on the floor right in front Rich that night. My wife and I danced every night at Disneyland with the Big Bands, we could not dance to Rich concert only. Your a dam good drummer. Hope you get job.

  • WOW! Whether he's quite as fast as 40 years ago, a blur is still a blur!

  • @speedoflite1 u got that right

  • It's great to hear the crowd cheer when Buddy delights them. I miss Buddy. I was lucky enough to see him live at Disneyland at least two times.

    Thanks for the post.

  • I happen to 'randomly' visit Disneyland; walked by the Carnation Center and saw that a somewhat sizable band had setup. As I looked closer - saw the BR insignia on the base drum head and thought to myself ... no way. I was wrong.

An experience that I will always appreciate and be thankful for having had the opportunity to have had. He and his band were incredibly tight ...

For those who've never had that opportunity, trust those of us who have. He was and is truly the best.

  • This is from a great show! Nice post!
