  • i had one of these... the build quality is amazing. on par with the legendary 1200/1210 decks, but I fucking hating using it. NO HOT CUES and some mp3 playback quality was piss poor.

  • I have 2 of these and have been using them steadily at parties, weddings and ceremonies. 90% of the time they work flawlessly. Occasionally for no reason at all they begin to loop the song so it repeats a short section of the song without actually pushing any looping buttons. This can be a disaster at a formal event like a Wedding. I can no longer depend on these for just that reason. Both units had this problem.

  • Can it play DRM encrypted music?

  • can all SD cards be inserted??

  • BTW, why dont you add WAV support/firmware for SDJ-2/SDJ-1 ?!?

  • @hugoselekta Sorry no they only support MP3 files.

  • I have had one a little over a year (now out of warranty). Loved it while it was working. Unfortunately, I have an occasional blue-screen-of-death and can't get it to do anything. It will do this for a period of time and then start working again. I was told by support that if the motherboard needs replaced it would be around $180, plus the $35 just to look at it and the cost of shipping. I'd have more in the repair than I purchased it for. Anyone else had this problem?

  • @markwhite85 Sorry to hear that have you tried updating the Firmware?

  • what a fool... If your LAPTOP loses power??? I wonder if they heard of ...batteries...

  • what if u forget the SD card

  • Can anyone tell me the benefits of getting this unit and the cortex 3000 , they are the same price?

  • Huh :) It's bigger and heavier (cortex) and it seems to be more expensive. Anyway, the main difference is that sdj1 plays mp3 from SD cards only (but not sdj2) and cortex3k from USB storage devices only.

  • can anyone tell me where I can find the 4 GB sd card that will work on this item please..

  • if you have a digital camera, pull the card out of it...a lot of cameras (both my Kodak and Canon use one) use an SC Card

  • ebay u can get them about 6 to 10 pound

    from uk sellers

  • yah i strated DJin recently, and to tell the truth it was AWESOME... but still CDs r common thing, i still have to work with CDs as work with other ppl who dnt have the american audio like most of local clubs lol

    thnx for the vid

  • Dont forget... not all are DJ's !!! I use it at stage, and Im a piaonbar entertainer. Other musicians will make use of it, they are now using ipods or minidisc , this marked is screaming for these products. I used a ipod for years it was a hell operating live. Only whiched SDJ1 had a volume control, why???

  • "MP3 songs" But what about if you ripped straight from a CD?

  • Does anybody know where the background music is from???

  • sounds like Jet - Jokes and the Thief for a little at the start

  • does the digital display read the song title or you just have ta know the folder and number of track your trying to play?

  • can u still hook it up to a computer?

  • I saw this and the other SD products in action @ the Nightclub how last week in Vegas and they blew everyone away - I am already getting calls, emails & orders - go American Audio!

  • hi, i don't know if i posted this anywhere else but i know i posted it on ellaskins latest video about sdj1 and this is what:

"It's great unit but it should have 2ch mixer buit-in, like the JB Systems MSD900 has!"

and one more thing. i dont know why do dj companies make 1 or 2 cool product a year, this should be 1 a month, don't you wanna be in step with technology and dj demands. we are way behind advanced and more convenient stuff that could be in our hands right now!

  • and after you "release" a dj product it takes 3 months to get somewhere near-by. i don't wanna search through messed-up distributers and their prices are high, i wanna buy it directly from you with good price!;)

  • The comment belong to ALTERSOUND comment :)

  • You have to put this product into perspective, it is not designed to be the answer to every digital DJ's needs but it does have a market, at least it would seem so based on the inquiries and orders we have seen in the past 2 weeks!

  • I was reading the comments below, and sure you guys could have done the USB thing, but i guess you guys thought about the future and know about the new type of hard drives being released this year which are not going to be compatible with the Denon piece or Cortex (I know someone @ Denon development who gave me this info and @ Western Digital development). Thanks for looking out for the Consumer and not letting their hard earned money go to waste.

  • The sad thing is even my iPod has 160 gigs - The ones out there that allow you to use it as a hard drive make more sense

  • Looks like they finally came out with this after it was sitting on a shelf for 10 years? No Hard drive support? that would have been easy to add to this considering! And a quick reboot after you lost power? I don't think there are that many nubs out there that don't have a APS back up built in their supply box any more - Power goes off I hit pause and either fix it or wait for it to go back on and press play!

  • i was looking for this(to exclude the laptop) after seeing cortex's hdc1000(long time ago!?) and im sure is less expensive and importantly more accessable in my country(through musicexports)! can't wait to test/buy this! hope it's here soon! big ups!

  • Event worse, they are giving you file ratings under 128kbps -- no respectable DJ would run less than 192kbps, and quite honestly, 256kbps should be a minimum.

I agree - the new Denon products blow this away. This is best as some form of emergency backup, have "the essentials" on mem-cards.

  • i would need about a thousand of those 4 gig SD cards to hold my colection that would cost me way more than a 500 gig hard drive.. not only that that, but how the hell would you know whats on each sd card before you put it in the player.... trust me its more work than if you just used books of cd's. t go for the denon HD-2500 where you can connect up to 4 hard drives & a keybord and still find songs 10 times faster than the american audio.. and it only runs about $799.00 well worth it..

  • Well I think then that this device is NOT for you :) I´m Djing just for fun in a small club using PC and midi controller and when I went trought my MP3 collection I realized that I will need 2-3 SD cards only, I don´t keep songs that I will never play just because somebody will ask for them once in a 5 years, so I don´t need 500GB HD.Also it is more comfortable and safer for me to take this unit with me instead of carrying Notebook and controller.

  • thasts crazzy i geettin thos for mobile use!

  • Very interesting new product. It is nice to see American Audio coming out with new gear. I will definitely need to take this one for a test drive.

  • that is a smart idea. No backup players. yay!

  • Ohh I need to get my hands on one of these. Nice smart product!

  • What mixer are you using?
