Never use oil filter wrench to tighten them also the gasket will swell and make seal tighter then hand tight with use those canisters are litle thicker then soda cans.

by the way, you don't have to tighten the oil filter canister with a wrench. just turn the filter 'til it's snug and then handtighten a quarter turn more. that should do the trick.

heads up, you should fill that oil filter up with some of the new oil. This will make sure when you turn the car over, there is oil already in there. I always fill my oil filters.
