  • ABSOLUTE show off

  • Wow that was incredible and insane was that a 3C mouth piece or a 7C mouth piece

  • What backbore is?

  • Great Musician, great technique, absolute show-off. 'You want applause when you show-off? Well, applause is all you will get.'

  • met him once and he confirmed a Bach 3c

  • he can do whatever he wants at this point in his career, hes mutha f***ing arturo sandoval, in my opinion the greatest jazz trumpet player alive

  • I have seen him live many year ago.

I have an autograph of him :)

  • eu nao axo kkkk

  • arturo sandoval el numero uno esres grande

  • I guess this is what happens when Arturo runs out of true inspiration

  • SEMPLICEMENTE DIVINO

  • SEMPLICEMENTE DIVINO

  • DIVINO

  • semplicemente divino

  • semplicemente divino

  • this guy is the steve vai of the trumpet....a trickster deluxe. Uses the tricks to pull you in, but is also a deep musician.....

Definetely his a master: master of bad taste.

    ¡Todos al circo!

  • maestrooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it's a live performance.. the crowd came to see him show off too. He an entertainer on stage. He give u everything

  • who's that singer?!?!

    he's really good

  • yeah ARTURO

  • Yup as it should be. Nice full pedals and that sets the embouchure for EVERYTHING all the way up!!!!

My face barely moves anymore even on 8VA jumps mostly uses the tongue!! SEE CG stuff!! It works!!!

  • Well who cares about his showing off HE is an internationally renowned trumpet player. He can show off if he likes, the people CLAPPED after he did those things so they like it. It's pretty cool to see him do those things. That's what makes Arturo, well...Arturo! It's just like Mike Vick is a rushing QB that's what makes him different. There are CONSERVATIVES who wants him to stay in the pocket and pass, but THATS not him. The same with Arturo, let Arturo be Arturo.

  • any one else get goosebumps after 40

  • No WOrds - The best

  • one of the best player ever!!!!!!!

  • He got the freedom at music. He can play anything that he want. lol

  • Eh, He has played much more musically before. This is macho-"let me show off" garbage

  • I Have just started using a megatone about a month ago. . .

and that range is impressive but not one bit musical,

its the tone that counts. . . range is important also but tone is the key to being a succesfull trumpet player. . .

  • it is fantastic, i love jazz and i think you are a profissional of the jazz anf improvise the notes

  • Range like no other.

  • Melhor trompetista do mundo

  • Amazing, did anyone else get goosebumps at like 37-50

  • SIMPLESMENTE MARAVILHOSO

  • Impressive technically, but most of that solo made no sense musically. If you aren't a musician you wouldn't get that what he was doing is difficult, it would just sound like fart noises.

Sad. Maybe it was a trumpet clinic?

  • what a beautiful rich open tone, in all ranges.

  • already a legend!

  • SHIT! He hit tuba range! That's incredible!

  • oh, nevermind, i guess that was just kind of an intro

  • dude, he kind of just ruins the feel of the song by showing off his high notes and his low notes

  • Off the charts Arturo plays so great

  • I think you have to keep in mind he is playing ranges that trumpet wasn't really meant to play in. Some of it isn't pretty, but who else has that kind of range? That's part ot the point, to show off his range and play notes barely anyone else can even attempt to play.

  • sounds very similar to "summertime" xD

    very nice

  • sweet!

  • He's amazing!

    ^^'

  • There actually are changes in his embochure, albeit slight.

The reason it sounds seamless is because for him it is purely instinctive. He truly doesn't think about what his lips, mouth, throat, or whatever are doing.

Like a lot of great players, he focuses on the sound he wants to produce, and then the body learns to adjust as necessary. Sure, results aren't instant (unless you're Bud Brisbois, with a triple C at age 12), but they come remarkably quick when sound is the real focus.

  • wov, instrument's octave is supeeeer :)

  • That's the Wild Thing trumpet he's playing made by Flip Oakes. Great sound.

  • hes good...... but wayne bergeron could smoke him any day!

  • wayne bergeron could smoke him any day

  • Largest trumpet-range EVER!!!

  • super!

  • I would listen this guy for hours

  • I BOW to the master...

  • tremendo

  • going low just shows that he has control of any range its just amazing

  • grosoooooo

  • very bad!!! stupid trumpet player....ok, he has

high and low register and....? where is the music ? music is not sport !

  • I love Arturo's playing, he is an incredible trumpet player, piano player and composer. I really love Arturo on the flugel horn because he is so lyrical very similar to Maynard. I wouldn't call Arturo a pure jazz player, however, like Rodoti. At times Arturo does rely on a bag of vintage licks that he uses over and over, however, still one of the all time great trumpet players

  • Arturo Is the most amazing tumpet player in the world!

I bow down to him, he is the reason I played trumpet, He truly is the master of all ! Most of you guys don't know that he just freestyles most of his songs! thats how dam good he is!

  • He's a great trumpet player and jazzer, don't get me wrong, but hiss type of soloing gets a bit old after a while

  • Simplesmente incrivél, o cara toca muito...

  • really the best in his style and master of the high-notes

  • The man is fucking amazing!

There will never-ever be a trumpeter and bad ass as heis... He freestyles!! He's a king and has masterd the trumpet as well as other instruments.. unbeliveable!

    I bow down to Arturo!

  • HE CAN SHOW OFF...CAN'T HE!

  • jesus christ arturo is insane!!!

  • Check out 154 and 224. There's no change in his embouchure! That's freaking insane! I can barely retain the same embouchure up to a g above the staff lines.

  • Lol, I used to be the same way. Just keep at it.

  • Keep playing it will come. Getting lessons and I can now play Dbl Pedal C to G above High C with the same setup. Sure a touch of tension added but VERY little compared to what it used to be. The only way to play. Can't do octave or 10th jumps if you have to reset your mouthpiece.

But is he good or what!!!

  • maestro de maestros

  • wow, amazing, just amazing, i like the flutter tounges at 48

  • I know I will be reemed for this, but some of this isn't tasteful, its impressive, but just not musical. its just " look at me, I can play pedal tones and really high" where is the emotion. at one point he just does a scale going all the way up, no reason, just to show range. Its not my taste sorry

  • Believe me dude, I just came back from a concert featuring this exact band. It is all extremely musical, and Arturo has got to be one of the most inspiring artists of all time. Although it may seem like he's showing off (and he may be just a little...I mean when your that good and all...) but he makes it all work, which is the truly amazing part. The rest of the band is incredible as well.

  • I'm with you. Lot's of trumpet players roll their eyes when you mention Arturo. This is pretty tasteless. Although, the album version of this tune is beautiful!

  • Don't forget it's a live concert. People pay to see it so it's better to have something impressive. You don't go to a live concert just to hear Arturo plays exactly the same as the CD.

  • the emotion is there too, he wanted to show off his range at this gig, thats his choice, he also plays with emotion. Don't agree with you.

  • Agreed. Talent is useless without application.

Though this is still damn amazing, I have to say. Entertaining vid, but could be better.

  • Lets face it: If you had a 14 inch penis, you too would be obliged to whip it out once in a while.

Arturo started life with nothing, playing on a bent up pocket trumpet, and grew up to be the most versatile trumpet player that has ever lived. Naturally people come to his concerts to witness not only great music, but some freaking amazing feats of virtuosity.

  • dolsigma, no one can dispute what your taste is. I am not much into jazz precisely because I feel much of the improvisation is "look at what I can do with the instrument, never mind the music". I don't think it is Arturo, who definitely is one of the best, it is the genre.

  • I agree to some extent... BUT, it's not like he just ran up random bullshit notes when he went from pedal F to double F... He played over a very tasty chord/scale.

  • dolsigma,

Not to reem you, but how many other trumpeters do you know that have a 6 + octave range?

He's doing this because his audience appreciates that they won't see this anywhere else in the world.

Sometimes even great musicians have to use parlor tricks to gain attention in a world full of rap music and Kenny G's...

  • Ok, I agree there's that part, but the beginning of the piece you CANNOT say it's not musical, I'm sorry, the second part again, I agree a bit with you.

  • That has been a criticism of Arturo's playing amongst a lot of people and I would tend to agree. He tends to put a lot of pyrotecnics in his playing lol. I do love his music though and he has written some really beautiful compositions

  • @dolsigma You are correct many people acuse several artist of just playing scale. Most of time this is just to bash a technically proficient player they are jealous of. However Sandoval here literally just plays a scale all the way down and then al the way up. It's really dumb and doesn't sound that good.

  • @dolsigma he can do what he wants at thispoint in his stardom hes muthafuckin arturo sandoval....look at any of his other stuff in my opinion the greastest jazz trumpet player alive

  • @dolsigma he can do what he wants at thispoint in his stardom hes muthafuckin arturo sandoval....look at any of his other stuff in my opinion the greastest jazz trumpet player alive

  • @dolsigma he can do whatever he wants at this point in his career, hes mutha f***ing arturo sandoval, my opinion the best jazz trumpet player alive

  • please take this into consideration, arturo is amazing but sometimes i feel he shows off his skills let me explain please he could have the gorgeous music with 16th 32nd notes grace and musicalityand range, like 40th second to like 50 was unnecesarry and going so low didnt make the song sound musical

  • Like the John Petrucci of trumpets, heh. I know what you mean, but sometimes people listen to him just for ridiculous virtuosity, and not necessarily musicality. ;)

  • dude 40-50 was like one of the best parts for it, and yes playing pedals never sound good, and his range is diffrent from the older vids, I think he injured his lip

  • where on earth did he learn to play with that kind of tone...ive never heard anyone as unique as him.

  • In probably one of the best places to take music lessons, CUBA.

Cuban music teachers are way tougher than professors here in the USA. Imagine your second grade music teacher being as tough as a Julliard instructor. Plus there are no other distractions. No PS3. Paquito De Rivera, Chucho Valdez, Cachao, and many many more. I hear that today, to enter the music conservatory in cuba as a piano major, you must reach a 10th. from C to E for ex. with one hand. That is crazy, and if you dont reach, bye.

  • @username200909

    cuba lol

  • @username200909

  • Those pedal tones are amazing!

  • does anyone know what type of mouthpiece he plays on?

  • I'm pretty sure I read that he plays on a Bach 3C.

  • I believe it's a bach 3c, I'm not sure though.

  • i think its a bach 7c, but i'm not sure

  • 7c LOL...

  • if i remember correctly a 3c is his mouthpiece of choice, ive seen him use a monette occasionally, but mostly its a 3c.

  • Older Bach 3 C w/ a 24 throat

  • @trumpetofyhvh

    What backbore is?

  • @OLUYEKWZ backbone means the strongest or the most important part of anything... exp: without our backbone, we can not be able to stand up straight. Some one could be called the backbone of the family, if this person is provider for that family. I hope it helps

  • Arturo has amazing low notes and high notes!

  • The best.

  • simplemente lo mejor del mundo the best of the worl no more no hay mas

  • simplemente es el mejor trompetista del mundo

  • this man is a living legend...the best trumpet player alive..best musician alive!

  • Don't tell me that the cubans invented the trompet! They are always talking about what they have invented! They still don't have democracy!

SANDOVAL,the one and only.

  • great range!

  • That's the Wild Thing trumpet he's playing made by Flip Oakes. Great sound.

  • It is---sounds like he is doing a demo for it...I play with more feel than him but he wins on technique......he aint Miles...he hss the best chops....why the lower notes TUBERS I call em...

they sound ccrappy...no applause for that...and then to the high notes....I am not sure the horn is as great as purported...he is great but he might sound as good on my silver 37 Baac stradivarius..not sure...

  • simplesmente o melhor !!!
