Correct me is I'm wrong, but Luttibelle is from Dothan, Alabama. She is backwoods country, and has little to no education. This girl sounds like she's from Eastland Boarding school. "Not as high stepping as I IS", not Am."
This chile is just all WRONG. And Purlie , although a much better actor, is lack-luster and droll. He is supposed to be yelling across a cotton field at Missy, yet he sounds like he's talkin to someone less than three feet away. No passion. No fire. No Southern accent.
This is the begining of a great dramatic version of the play. I hope that you get the opportunity to work out the entire story at some point. It is a message that could stand to be revisited. I like the more serious tone and the more intelligent view of Lutie Belle. Good luck with your directing career.
Mostly good. The ranch is a great choice for the era. Purlie's clothes are appropriate. His companion, however, is from a completely different era. Her clothes, white sneakers, and most noticeably, her LOCS. She looks out of place in the scene. And I agree, they don't sound southern. Not bad for one camera, though. The shots are pretty steady. Keep up the good work.
That was great ...... I remember the play with Robert Gillaume, Melba Moore and Sherman Helmsley. This treatment is a lot more laid back and cerebral.
Awesome job and great choice! This was a play that I was fortunate to be exposed to as a youth and it was so underrated. A great deal of people that I grew up with did not have the opportunity see it. Then my instructor at recreation got a bunch of us kids together and we put on the "mini" production at parks and in schools for other kids. Keep up the good work.
