  • pink floyd is my favorite band! RIP richard wright...

  • can u buy the batteries??

  • It's amazing to see these little planes like 2 years ago but now you have state of the art spektrum 2.4 ghz technology like the p-51 or the sukhoi. Great song choice also!

  • looks like it only has 1 throttle step

  • where did you get the wattage micro flyer the white and blue and red one.

  • isn't the transmitter odd, i mean realy, look at it!!!

  • very informative video like allways and great song by the way..Pink Floyd is great :)

  • Thanks very much.....love Pink Floyd for sure.

  • Hi Dave got a question for my friend,my step daughter likes to come flying with me in the summer so i thought she would get a real kick out of one them little planes and my local hobby shop sells them and spares (rookie) so do you think it would be ok then she could have my firebird phantom when she gets use to the flight controls,5*

  • Well is she doesn't crash, there should be no reason why she should not be able to fly the Phantom. Just give her proper flight training and "save it" for her if she gets in trouble. Thanks kindly.

  • b1rds i love it lol

  • can you give me one machine plane... I can't buy that, I just can imangine how ply the rc...

  • the loockie does not seem to fly but it does. its engeneering knowledge. it looks a bit like roundtuit

  • nice one how much about in english pound do u reckon one of those would cost?? oh and i got this science museum virtually indestructible r/c plne its not very good it donent have a elevator it just got a twin router blade and to turn left and right on of the roters go fater than the other. and any way i cant get it to go verry well. =[

  • I dunno in pounds. Google Currency conversions and you can figure it out free. These tiny lipos are about $10 avg here. I have a plane like you have too, and I never had good luck with it either. Guess that is why there are no real planes with designs like it has. LOL.

  • wich one do you recomend?

  • Parkzone Citabria.

  • Could you please show as done with planes how does helicopters get controled ??

  • See my video "How helicopters work".

  • what is the voltage on the wattage main micro flyers Lipo and the NIMH Battery?

  • The Lipos are single cell 3.7v. The Nimh is 4.8 V. Both require different chargers.

  • You could slightly modify your micro flyers and make a video of it.

  • True, but I have past that stage. I like the Firebird size airplanes now.

  • silverlit should make somthing like this!

  • do they still sell the Rookie Somewhere?

  • Hobby People originally sold them.

  • Tower hobbies still does go to their website Towerhobbies(dot)com but it's more expensive than the micro flyer by 20$

  • You could put in a battery the same size and get the old ones recycled. That would last longer

  • Oh, and by the way, where did you get these micro flyers?

  • Hobby-Lobby(.)com

  • I hope you try to avoid Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries. Word on the street is that if they are overcharged, they will inflate and explode or burst into flames. They just take money out of your wallet.

  • No thanks. I have computer lipo chargers and know what I am doing when I charge them. They have come a long way since the fires etc days. Been using them 4 years now and never had a problem. I never wasted a dime on one as they all still work too.

  • i think that the air hogs fire wing is a wattaage micro flyer beacuse it has a non proportional on-off throttle ,and on-off rudder, exect the throttle is a pistol grip, the yaw is controled by a stick and there is a charging wire, not removable batery

  • Maybe, but a lot of real cars and planes look the same tii, but are different Manufactures.

I do know that Airhogs did not sell rights to Wattage and vice versa.

  • I have a Normal Micro FLyer which still works from when I bought it a year ago. I had a Rookie but it died in 2 days and the battery blew up and me. The Rookie Flies a Little better in my opinion.

  • Thanks. I agree.

  • Thanks. I agree.

  • Hi Dave,

I love all your videos and they have really helped me alot. Just one thing though on the micro flyer and the rookie box does it say anything to do with the chemicals used in these planes can cause cancer? I bought a micro flyer (not from wattage) and it had infomation on the back of the box saying that the chemicals used in this product are cancer causing. I dont know if the wattage one is a different material or somthing.

    Please Help,

    Matt

  • The batteries contain Lithium. I don't know if it causes cancer and I have no boxes to look at, but there are lots of warnings about them in the manuals. The best solution for me is to not eat the batteries.

  • Lol, Thanks Alot =]

  • Hey Dave! I just got the Watt-Age P-51 D Mustang from Hobby People. I haven't flown it yet, but I want to know if they are any good. I heard that it takes a lot of time for this one to create lift compared to other RC Planes. I just realized that the Micro Flyers are the same brand, and they are toys, so I am wondering if my $150 plane is only a toy. Thanks Dave! Colin.

  • Congrats. They are all toys. I love toys, myself. My $3000 1/3rd Scale Pitts is a toy too, so not to worry. Your plane is a great flier, as I have heard. Watt-age makes good stuff and has been around longer than most. If you don't crash, it will be a great plane. Just fly it and have fun. But if you crash it because of your fault, don't be like most and blame the plane or mfg. You will be more respected later on in your flying career when you can admit brain fade, as we all crash due to it.

  • OK Thanks Dave! I will be flying it as soon as the weather clears up here. At Hobby People, they told me every part of a plane or helicopter has an expiration date, but they can't find it. Colin.

  • Ha ha... Yep, the expiration date is when it is crashed beyond repair! There is no date other than that, that I have ever seen. Only Batteries have expiration dates, and believe me, they will usually be crashed beyond repair, long before that. Ha ha...

  • It's me again. I tried to fly my P-51D Mastang and it won't fly! I charged it for 2.5 hours like the instructions said and I can't get it in the air. I hand launched it and tried to use a long strip of concrete, and on the last try on hand launching, the propeller split in mid air causing minor damage.

  • Bummer. Better return it.

  • How much was it?

  • $100 On sale at Hobby People

  • you can get a micro flyer for 30$ and a rookie for 60$

  • hello MR.Herbert i just got a Transformer StarScreamer micro flyer 2 days ago and every time i try to take off from the grond it allways does a right turn no matter what i even put the trim all way down to level it out but it wont work can u give me any pointers? ( PLZ message me)

  • I don't have one, but I know that it is best hand launched. Trims it to make it go left is to bend the trailing edge of the right wing down. Also bend the trailing edge of the rudder aimed slightly to the left, thus causing the nose to go left.

  • get an avion dave thats 2 stick or get a CARBON BUTTERFLY bY PLANTRACO

  • I have 2 videos up on the Avion, with more of it flying on the video "Indoor electric fly in".

  • i made this b4

  • atleast they fly :)

  • the megatech avion is a full proportional micro flyer and the controler is your normal two stick its awsome and theyre lipo batts

  • I have an avion, See my 2 vids on it. It does not have elevator control.

  • i wrote this b4

  • how bout the palm z i know out of subject but i wanna know

  • um the different one that has a orange controler will that die out too?

  • Eventually, but they can be used about 1000 times if you charge them properly.

  • what do you mean using the right charger you mean the one that comes with it?

  • Yes. There is no other charger that will work anyway, since most lipos batteries now have a miniature circuit board built into the batterys on these toys, to prevent the blowups. A computer charger like I have is for big batteries, the small ones would be damaged with it.

  • where can you buy a new one when it explodes and how long till it starts to puff up

  • It will never explode if you use the proper charger. I have never had the battery die after a year of flying. All hobby stores, or Towerhobbys(.)com sell batteries.

  • can the LiPo battery on a indoor micro helicopter explode like the batteries you showed respond please

  • Yes.

  • hi Dave, cool little planes. btw, my lipo battery from my blade cp is kinda deformed and swelled just a tiny bit. would it be ok to still use it?

  • Thanks. Not advisable. Once Lipos start swelling or deforming, they could explode. I mean really! Google EXPLODING lipos and see for yourself. Be safe, my man, be safe!

  • Another wonderful video from you! Thank you sooo much!

    God bless your kind soul!

    yours,

    Tony

  • Thank you Tony.

  • do you have a jet

  • Yes. It is a P-80 Shooting star.

  • which one do yopu think flys bteer? i have the red and blue one.

  • The rookie glides a little better, but they are both about the same.

  • Is that in orange city Iowa. and have you ever been to the tulip festival. My grndpa, bob huibregtse designed the windmill and bridge. i love your planes do you need an ama liscense to fly gas? thanks alot

  • Im north of Orange City in Sibly. We took a motorcycle ride to the Tulip festival this summer and I took lots of pics. You do not need an AMA license to fly, but most clubs will not let you fly without one, because it is the best insurance for very little money. You could damage a window or somebody too, with electric, so the insurances is a safety factor and you get a Mag every month too.

  • thnx

  • Hi from France Dave ! I watched several of your videos and they're GREAT ! A big thanks for sharing the info, and the fun !

I practice "conventional" models for years, mainly gliders (large models, soaring) but also planes, and one gas heli.

Don't you think there is a lot more weight/fun ratio in the new small indoor helis (PicooZ, Reflex) than in the new small planes ? A plane can't really fly indoor, and outdoor wind is an uncontrolable factor for the poor things...

  • Indoor only for the small helis, because they have no cyclic and font work well even if a fan is on!! The planes fly inside too but on a calm day, they work outside as you can see. (except for the trees..ha ha.)

TO me, they are all fun.

    Thanks kindly for your comments.

  • TREE!!! Haha. There's too many obsticles in your back yard, but those new steps look awefully nice.

  • Great job as usual, MR. Herbert! How much do those planes cost?

  • Thanks a lot. They cost about $39.

  • southwest Iowa near Omaha

  • Thanks. Not sure where Menden is?

  • Nice video Dave. I once had a micro flyer (broke the first day but sure fun while it lasted). Yea the batteries arent' that well. I had a different transmiter though like the one's you use to fly a better rc. In Iowa, it is windy all the time but good for kite-flying. I used to also live in a town called Menden.
