  • Only 94k its Gay Gay

  • GAy

  • I'm also glad they started putting retard detectors in planes. It picked one up right before the plane touched down.

  • You must need balls of obsidian to land here.

  • i love this vid man thanks for uploading it i also like the way your father flies fully manual approaches...nice flying

  • 100 50 30 20 RETARD! 10 5

  • Awesome video! cockpit view of landing at st maarten!

  • Did you see the naked guy at 1:44

  • don't be fooled by the video shaking ppl, everyone who records handheld in a cockpit will shake that much whether it's a kiss or not. unless you put it on a suction cup or a secured stand. then it won't shake that much.

    Great Video!

  • @arncell do pilots hold he foot brakes down on landing or will that explode the tires?

  • Wow, he destroied the landing gear.

  • 50, 30, 20, RETARD!

  • wow the GPWS WAS LIKE 50 30 20 RETARD LIKE 2 TIMES FASTER THAN USUAL!! WHAT HAPPEND TO THE 40 AND 5

  • How did you manage to get this seat?

  • Man what a bumpy runway, and great lading on behalf of the pilots. One question though was it really that bright from the cockpit or was the the camera trying to adjust to the sunlight. And Air France is a great airline for all those haters. I hope that this year they have a greater profit and not a large strike this year. 5/5 great video!!

  • @planefreak321

are you sure the runway was bumpy or is that just the noise that planes make when they land. The camera was jumping allot but maybe its because of the camera man??

  • @planefreak321

are you sure the runway was bumpy or is that just the noise that planes make when they land. The camera was jumping allot but maybe its because of the camera man?? and thanks the service is great at Air France

  • @wardeff i have no idea maybe the guy shooting the video.

  • Do the spoilers activate? I didn't see the lever go back.

  • @DeltaAirtran they were armed,so the lever doesn't move but when the main gear touches down they're openning

  • they did but on airbus planes the spiloer and flap controls are small unlike on boeings

  • @MyPilot747 not rlly. they're pretty large

  • HOW DO YOU GET TO RECORD IN THE COKPIT?? DID YOU ASK??

  • and passengers..welcome to st.maarten off the left side you'll notice the landing gear spread across the airfield so please watch your step!

  • @doormaneamons

How so insulting I am from St Maarten and that is so not true, that runway is at international standards, get informed before u say stupid stuff

  • @wardeff i never said anything about the runway, i said it was a hard landing

  • 1:47 says RETARD :)

  • Landing was a bit hard, but I guess he would need to put her down quickly considering the runway is very short.

  • @LuckyBambooExpert you're right for the reason but the landing was very very light, not hard at all, believe me !

  • @arncell

Lets not exagerate have seem lighter landings before where planes are almost stationary in the air and planes landing in St Maarten do not come in that light so the term very very light is somewhat misconstrued.

  • @LuckyBambooExpert

Very short is not the term the runway is with the average in the region, ofcourse bi cities like NY, LAX, Paris and London would have way longer runways

  • great video!!! howd u get in the cockpit?

  • @777fsx200 he's the pilot ;-)

  • I love fly with Airbus A340 in my Flight Simulator X... This GPWS sound is so funny and the Airbuses has the most beaultiful cockpit(it's what i think). So, great video, i loved it. 5/5

  • Great video! Love the low approach over the beach!

  • nice one man! =)

  • I've landed here over 30 times in my 777 and Mustang, each approach the place looks more beautiful. May want to check the gear after this slam down, pilot flared a bit too early and paid the price, lucky the gear didn't blow.

  • Gotta love the Airbus computer callouts!!

  • Smooth landing.

  • i would love to be an pilot or atc

  • center good landing

  • i love this video! Air France is the bomb! everyone in st maarten always line up by the beach to watch air france land! Even the tourist enjoy seeing air france land!

  • @Thierryjr88 right you've all understand...! lol

  • @Thierryjr88 They come there to see Aircrafts landing, not especially Air France ;)

  • @Thierryjr88 make sure you dont say that inside the aircraft hahaha

  • Dumbassess, Air France is a royal shit

  • Every time I watch a video like this it makes me wish that I could trade places with one of those pilots. What a life and what an incredible view of the world that they get to experience.

  • I agree with The Centrix, and I feel compelled to add the following:

When French people use such insulting language it just proves to the whole world everyone is right about French nationals. I myself want to believe otherwise. If Sooksawaspakdee9 is though on his/her comments probably is because he/she had a very bad experience flying Air France. So, let's be civilized and enjoy the video.

  • Being in the cockpit takes the romance/fun out of flying. It makes ya feel that it's just a metal machine that gets ya up in the air and crosses distenses pretty fast. I guess the least ones who truly enjoy flying are commercial pilots.

  • @jeddawie exactly what I think,both subjects...;)

    :D

  • @jeddawie well the human beings that fly these monster machines are damn good pilots gotta admit that

  • @jeddawie you have never been in an airline cockpit you should check a very nice video about flying an airliner. Search in youtube "fly4fun Frank's Retirement Flight in HD" And enjoy... You'll see that they love flying.

  • @jeddawie I disagree. I know a pilot and he has flying for thirty years now and he loves it, so maybe some pilots but not all.

  • This is beyond FSX cockpit view.....

  • Reply to arncell,

    You re right man

  • Am not talking from a pilots point of view, am talking about how they treat the passengers/customers which is like shit. I fly Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways bu the way arncell.

  • @Sooksawaspakdee961

Comment number 2: I'll think once, then watch your sorry ass in agony. It's all good though at least people like you don't trash our good airline. You've obviously never travelled with them. Yeah 1\20 times there customer service is shit, but any airline has a day with bad customer service, no airline is perfect. I'd say treating the passengers to free wine, free champagne, and allowing them in the cockpit in flight isn't treating them like shit.

  • @TimeLapseAndAviation

    Right on

  • @Sooksawaspakdee961

I dont think so maybe your experience has been bad with Air France and maybe that was 10 15 yrs ago but now the service on the ground and in the air is one of the best I have had everytime I flown with Air France. Ofcourse asian careers are known to give execelent service but there are certain socialogical reasons why, lets compare what comparable, lets say western carriers.

  • It's like trying to throw a strike over home plate from centerfield.

  • Ok,and what company do you fly mother fucker stupid asshole son of a bitch ?!

(KMLB -> LSGG)

  • as an airf rance pilot, @sooksawaspakdee961 - i think you should go and stick that bender of a cock you own, and shove it up your mother's deep vaginal canal, prick

  • @arncell if you post something like that it will only make people agree with him. Not to be rude, but if someone calls your airline bad, and you start scolding and insulting him, it only proves him right. cause people will think that thats how everybody at air france is.

  • @TheCentrix yes you're right, but is make them going far...;)

  • @arncell LOL your an airline planet and you swear like this? Shame on you

  • What are you talking about ? From a pilot's point of view, it's a fantastic airline..

  • @Sooksawaspakdee961 and it's a shame that the world has such shitty people like you !

  • @Sooksawaspakdee961

It's ok you sad mother fucking cunt, you're just jealous of our wonderful airline. One of the best in the fucking world. Sadly the world has to live with cocksuckers like you. Good thing you know nothing about aviation and which airlines are the best!, because at at least I'll never have to sit next to your sorry ass on my wonderful AF flights. If I ever happen to actually sit next to you and you critize Air France, I won't think twice about kicking your ass. I'll thinkonce

  • IT actually says reacon..

  • heading 96 like the year i was born :P ik i live there !

  • lol 90 80 70 60 retard 40

  • MrBradman5 Sorry but it didn't say ANY of those numbers. lol

  • Beautiful landing.

  • orale, chido

  • Oh that's just the front seats' electrical motors, nothing important lol...!

  • Actualy, it was changed to runway 10 in late 2008.

  • Yes I also saw that. But somehow it doesnt make sense, that they changed it. I mean who cares if its 09 or 10. At what angle is the runway, as far as i know its 096?

  • Yes, its heading is 096, I remember from when I flew that route.

  • isnt it runway 9 not 10? the runway heading for runway "9" is 95.1 degrees. therefore, its runway 9 not 10. no big deal tho

  • Great video!!

  • ok umm people think that retard mean he callin co-pilot retard do u understand now?

  • that's false, that's not a copilot or capt's story, that means put throttles on "idle",retard the throttles, and the pf is using it,that's all...but you (all people seeing cockpit videos) just have to look,if you want, but that's exasperating to see always comment as "the pilot didn't check the checklist before T/O or he didn't said "continue" or "egpws serves to....",just see,and if you has some questions I can answer or help you,but stop chating about pilot's competences or ways please...

  • i dont beleive people actualy think thta means he callin co-pilot reatrd wtf people ver literall here lmfao

  • Man try to speak correct,we can't understand a word of your comment...!

  • Amen

  • Super video !! Favorite !

  • wooow when did st maarten runway switch from 9 to 10? :O i never knew, i dont think the airport in any way chould change the heading... chould someone give me a reason why this happend? :)

  • Earth moves 1° degree every 4 years or more, so the heading of the runway changes too so that's why 09 became 10

sorry for mu bad english :)

  • It is due to the magnetic filed ... It changes a bit every years. That is why the runway number could change. ( for example a runway heading North is called a 36 ).

  • Thanks for the answer :D

  • Why did it say retard? :(

  • Retard the throttles as in bring them back to idle, on airbus aircraft in order to go into reverse thrust the thrust levers have to be in the idle position

  • all airbus aircrafts are like this.

they say retard. retard means to close the thrust levers to idle position on landing. :)

  • 50, 40, 30, 20, RETARD, 10

  • Does the computer always say "retard" when you are landing or when the aircraft descends faster than a certain fpm?

  • No always...but it's a kind of option you know, not ALL airbus have the callout...

  • Oh, ok thanks...

  • Arncell, awesome video 5* i have one question though, can you tell the date of this flight?

  • Yes,that landing was the July 2nd,2009,and the take off the next day,the July 3rd,2009...Did you catch me ??!

  • Dude, it's the famous runway 9 not 10 at St. Maarten! :) I love the video! Thanks for sharing

  • yes now is 10 not 9 !

  • cool island and quality and landing!

  • wow bin lah... le cap il es sur le 9 ou sur le 10 ses melangeant sa :O

  • wtf runway 10? runway 9 tu veux dire? ;)

  • mtn c'est 10 !

  • very good landing!!

I've been looking so long for a A340 landing video in st.maarten, only found one of the KLM B747.

I find it very interesting how the pilot can see the runway from that far and then lands the plane exactly on the centerline... I tried this a hundred times in flight simulator, only a few times it worked and the landing wasn't half as good as this one^^ visual landings with such a great plane still fascinate me.

  • Well, pilots actually have the autopilot line them up for a landing like this before they take over for the visual apprach about 15 nm out.

I'm not sure if an ILS landing is possible at this airport, but at airports like Frankfurt etc. The plane can actually land itself with the ILS technique

  • thanks for the information;)

I know that at St.Maarten ILS is not possible, they have no ILS equipment at the airport (don't know why, think I read sth. about room problems, because of the beach directly in front of the runway & the mountain on the other side).

I'm an enthusiastic flight sim pilot an already gained some experience in ILS landing^^

but nevertheless thanks, wish someone would have explained me the ILS then when I needed it. Had to teach it all myself :D

  • Yeh Its Call Approach Mate Plus, They Only Use ILS If They Are In Trouble Or Have Problems With Plane

  • Lots of pilots use ILS till their close enough to do it manually..

  • Man Shows You Know Nothing ILS ( Instrumental Landing System ) you can't just use ILS for approach its used for the full approach and landing also ur getting mixed up with approach

  • Ahem? Pilots use ILS until they can see the runway perfectly fine and they can turn it off, If they want they can keep it on and it will do a autoland ( depends if the runway has an autoland feature)

  • XD Shows You Know Nothing When They Contact ATC They Say Landing On ILS Heading If The Airport/Runway has ILS They Don't Just Turn Off On Approach They Either Land Manualy Or Land ILS Learn Boy

  • Yea thats what i meant? They land manually... Read my comments better?

Anyway your right ( but its still what i meant )

  • Oki Bro

  • Ouch... a bit hard....

  • No lol,not hard at all,but the runway's short so you have to touch at the exact impact points...

  • What does the Airbus-callout "hundred about" maen? And also "minimum"? What do the Pilots after these callouts?

  • The second pilot need to call those calls so the pilot will know in what altitude he is when he need to look outside. When he is at 30-50 feet he needs to idle the engines and flare.

  • Lol it's "Hundred above" what means "100 ft before "Minimum",and "Minimum" is the time when you say "landing" or "overshoot"...And the pilots doesn't do any special things after the hundred above alert, and the captain says"landing" or "overshoot" after the minimum...(He can say landing or continue...He says that they continue the landing...

  • Salut !!

    Happy landing mon chanceux!

    A+

  • Superbe.

  • Superbe vidéo, merci vraiment, et vive Air France!

  • super!

Super landing ! En plus le paysage donne envie !

  • vraiment excellent vidéo.

  • great video and great landing 5/5

  • Another fantastic video. Thanks for sharing.

    Merci

  • +5 encore belle vidéo merci!

  • Merci à tous ! Thanks everybody !

  • may i ask what is the climb rate of the a340-300 from 0-cruising alt? and how many nautical miles from the arrival airport does the plane start to descent? and how much is the descent rate? tnx

  • Yes,climb rate depend of the weight, and the nominal descend rate is 5%,with 300ft/miles at the approach (so you have to be at 12000ft when you're 40 miles far from the runway...So you calcul with the altitude you want...And the descend rate (which depends of the airport...) is generally 5%...

  • uhm.. yeah.. but how far from the airport do you start to descent? and how fast is te descent rate? because i have a friend who is a pilot, he told me, he would start to descent around 110nm at a descent rate of 1600ft/min..

  • But,it's never the same distance,it TOTALLY depends of your cruise alt, your speed, your plane, the wind,etc...But generally, the NOMINAL descend rate is 5%...so you just have to calcul, you nknow,if you're cruising at FL400,you'll not start descend as same as you were cruising at FL200...!

  • thank you so much for your help! i appreciate your generosity.. and hank you for sharing your time! :)
