It's great knowing that contestants from American Idol can sing live really well. It makes me wonder how other artists sound very bad but yet are more popular than Adam.

Yes, there is definitely backing vocals during the choruses...However, Adam is still singing himself the entire song. A lot of the time people play a backing track for choruses just to add depth and fullness, which seems to be the point for this. Technically, he's too strong a vocalist to need to use backing tracks to "lean on". Come on, guys. To those of you (clearly without a musical ear) saying he "can't" be this good -- listen. He IS this good. :)

Yeah, it's not possible for anyone to sing a song this difficult from two complete differnt takes and match the phrasing perfectly, If you play both videos at the same time using another window, the phrasing matches perfectly. The takes are mixed so you hear differnt vocal takes in different spots, but it is pre-recorded. Not immpossible to give 2 excellent performances, but yes immpossible to sing exact phrasing, esspecially with a song that has difficult add lib like this one at the end.

Thank you, finally someone else hears that the tracks are pre-recorded. So many people say I am full of it and don't know what I am talking about. Surely, they have never sang live or they would know what I meant by the vocal phrasing lining up too close to be live. Anyway, I think he is an excellent singer, but pre-recorded tracks take away a lot of stress and pressure.

Adam Lambert is the most handsome person alive^^ His smile is so charming. And he's an unbelievably talented artist. I don't see the big deal about him being gay - it doesn't make him a bad person. If you pull up the performance he did on the View in another browser and match up where the songs start, you will see it is exactly the same thing. He fooled you just like 99.9 % of the population. He may have an amazing voice, but this is not live.

The easiest place to tell is when it breaks down in the end. The high notes, if you will. He never sings it quite the same - as time has gone on he's switched it up more and more, lol.

If you open up another browser and play them at the same time you can see it is pretty obvious. You don't even have an argument. Don't feel bad though, I am sure 95% of pop stars do this. He just messed up and used the same pre recorded track for two national broadcast performances.
@RosaLui They are exactly the same. Either you must be syncing it to a different performance or something is throwing it off. I can sync both of the videos, play them at the same time and the match 100 % from beginning to end. It creates a chorus effect and everything is exactly the same. The ending is the best evidence they are the same, because their is no way he could do the add lib and sing those parts exactly the same. Sorry we disagree but it is what it is.
@SDMF26 No there not the same at all. It sounds similar a few times but it's not the same. I could give you like 10 examples where this one is different from the view one. Just one example is the "want from me" around 2:30 in this performance. At the view performance he's singing "whataya want from me" instead of just "want from me". If you play them at the same time you won't here the difference. But it's clearly there and you can't deny that. If you want more examples just let me now.
@30stmfan14 Ok, this is for you and anyone who disagrees that this is not the same track used on the VIew. Any minor slight difference as you may point out are variations mixed in the studio. Any recording musician who syncs the tracks up can tell it is the same. The timing is exactly the same, and if you line them up just right you can hear a chorus effect that is so tight, it is impossible to recreate live on two different performances. The guy can sing well, but it is not humanly possible.
@SDMF26 The timing is exactly the same, cause they're using a metronome. Don't you hear that click clack noise? Especially in the beginnig when the drums start. Oh and speaking of drums. The drummer is playing some different fills and "cymbals" in the view performance. And why would they change the drums in a studio recording? As for the effect. That just comes from the backing track in the chorus, which is pretty loud and the only thing that is pre recorded.

@Gauntlet19x I'm not trying to debunk Lambert. In fact, I think he is a hell of a singer. However, their is no way both this and the clip from the view are live. The vocal phrasing is too exact. IMO tracks are pre recorded and mixed from different takes in a studio. No way in this world can anyone sing that exact from two different live performances. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. Line up both performances in two different windows and play the at the same time. Maybe someone else will see what i mean.

It's really discouraging that you think it's impossible for two performances to be virtually identical. You know, there's a ton of classical/stage singers out there who don't just do two identical performances, but you know, 8 a week. Or you know, a drummer who has a solid beat. The music business did exist before it was dominated with autotune and prerecorded sessions...

@Gauntlet19x I'm not trying to debunk Lambert. In fact, I think he is a hell of a singer. However, their is no way both this and the clip from the view are live. The vocal phrasing is too exact. IMO tracks are pre recorded and mixed from different takes in a studio. No way in this world can anyone sing that exact from two different live performances. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. Line up both performances in two different windows and play the at the same time. Maybe someone else will see what i mean.

@SDMF26 you're right! They are pre-recorded. Also the one from the early show and Ellen. Even tho I hate to say it, they sound exact the same. But you can here that the pre-recording is live sung( it doesn't sound like a studio version, if you know what I mean), maybe they had there reasons, because he really can sing live!!!

It's really discouraging that you think it's impossible for two performances to be virtually identical. You know, there's a ton of classical/stage singers out there who don't just do two identical performances, but you know, 8 a week. Or you know, a drummer who has a solid beat. The music business did exist before it was dominated with autotune and prerecorded sessions...
Plus, if it were prerecorded, I'm sure that they would have used a take where Adam wasn't flat...

how does his sexuality come up when it has nothing to do with his singing ability...him being gay has nothing to do with his songs...u do realise that sexual orientation doesnt actually affect ur personality, being gay is not any different to being straight...people dont choose to be gay and they dont choose to be straight. its natural...jst because gays are a minority compared to straight people doesnt not make them any different.

@sauce556 It's not really to do with DNA. It's widely accepted that it's due to the amount of hormones released by the mother during pregnancy, and the birth order of the child. There is a correlation between birth order and incidence of homosexuality, and those with more older brothers are more likely to be homosexual, which suggests that the mother releases more or less of a certain hormone after more pregnancies, and thus the child is gay.

It's very natural, actually. It's common known (or, at least that's what I thought until I read your comment) that animals can be gay. Homosexual behavior has been observed in close to 1,500 species, ranging from primates to insects.

It frustrates me when I see this videos and the main topic of conversation is his sexuality...
But anyway, I love these live performances without all the glitter and glam... it lets me focus on his incredible voice and the sincerity he brings to every performance. Beautiful.
