that's cool on the first guitar break how Dave and the guitar player switch roles so to speak. The guy with the Tele plays mimicking steel and Dave holds down the guitar rhythm line. Nice!
Awesome!! I just played this in a show a few days ago. I will have it back from editting soon and will share. One of my favorite songs of all time and you guys rock it!!
I wish to thank you all for your comments to my youtube broadcasts. It is very much appreciated. I do try and contact you all personally if there's any questions that I have been asked, and I also make note of all your requests too. I have some great ideas for future videos and I will try and play some of your requests also.
John, try and take care of yourself man, that gut' does not belong on you! we can't afford to loss players of your caliber so please wise-up and get healthy and in shape. I see the aura' developing around you in these vid's and it bothers me as a healer of many years.
Great steel pickin fella!! Very good tele playing too!! Keep it up. Singer should definitely lose the "occasional" vibrato on this song. It detracts from a great song. Almost sounds like you are making fun of it...
You know, it really is a circle. Early American music, which engendered "Country", was based on Irish and Scottish sounds. Specifically, the fiddle was adopted because it gave the musician the ability to emulate the drone of pipes. The pedal steel evolved from the fiddle sound. I've always been surprised, and pleased, that our simple country music has been a comfort to so many. You guys are the tops, but I guess I won't be seeing you in any Jersey bars stateside. Keep picking!
I'm speechless !!! these guys are from GREAT BRITAIN....They'd be right at home in Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia or any other Southern state in the USA. This is GREAT.
It looks to be basically plucking the 6789 strings without sound and then using the volume pedal in conjunction with moving the bar up a few frets. Not sure of the exact strings. But play around with it. You should be able to figure it out.
You are having a lot of fun, and that is good for the song!! My respect, good jam! Very good, also the pedal steel work fits to the song wonderfully! 5 Stars!
I dont know if this guy on the Telecaster knows it BUT he is "SHIT HOT"!!!!

I think it's Suffolk English imitating west country English... definitely English country accents not American :-)

One question, Dave. What are you playing for the train whistle? It sounds great.
marredsun 3 years ago
He makes the whistle sound on the steel.

Umm...right. Notes and/or string groups and pedals is more what I was looking for.
