I arranged the layers all under a parent 3d layer, and I used the 'parent motion' to make that the camera. I moved layers around too. For example, for the first shot, all three blocks of text were separate 3d layers. I moved the camera upward, then deleted the text on those layers, moved the camera down, then up again to preserve motion. 'It' and 'Oh' are on the same layer, just switched in the time it took to move the camera.
On Sony Vegas pro 8, on the transfer modes option for the layer, the top one (3d source alpha) turns it into a 3d layer. It's really 2.5d as the layers have no depth.
Good luck! Just make sure you have the time to do it. This 19 second animation took 3 hours to do. I did another (which I'll upload soon) that took about a week and a half.
Thank you. Vegas' motion blur is absolutely terrible; not realistic at all. The other fonts I tried didn't work, and anyway I would have had to change the font for every keyframe for every instance of text. I really didn't go about this the right way at all.
that's my favorite line in the movie :]

how did you do this????

Very inefficently, compared to my other one. Each word is a separate text object, arranged in 3d space. See my other comment for more info.
