you have to use the hero gauge attack and cross your teammates paths. every time you do you get one resonance point to use the tri attack. when you have a t least one resonance point just push (Y on xbox) then (X) to confirm.

In order to make sure you are getting resonance points, when you use the hero gauge attack the path turns blue when you cross your team mates paths.

Controlls are wicked hard to learn XP but the game itself is really great, just with a very questionable storyline. I feel like so much could have been done that was not and this is suck a unique story that it should have been told perfectly. There are very funny parts that always get me though so I say buy it!
