I really hope most of these people have since choked on their words after actually viewing this film. I had my reservations about it when I saw these trailers too but when I finally saw the movie it blew me away. Turned out to be, in my opinion, a new classic and their best triumph since the golden age of Disney with JUST the right amount of modern "twist" to it. If Disney animation studios never made another movie again after this I would still die happy. Big fan.

Rapunzel is a tale about a child stolen from her mother, imprisoned in a tower to protect her virginity and was cast out when she became pregnant, not originally intended for children. If you want your kid to know the story read it to them don't take them to a disney movie

I had high hopes for this movie, but the way it is being marketed I have lost interest. This looks like one silly gag after another, no mythos, no epic feel. The colors look beautiful, but that is about it. Does Disney respect what they make anymore or are they just focused on maximizing returns? Yes, Aladin and Beauty and the Beast had its silly moments, but they were treated as epic fairy tales and stories. This looks like garbage to entertain kids for 80 minutes. Dissapointing.

Princess and the Frog, Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid are all good movies. Man...I miss the old Disney. By the way...um...Rapenzul is a dark fairytale isn't it? From what I remember there are a lot of adult themes in the original story.

I do not understand the whole anti-trailer vibe. At the end of the day, what will endure [or not endure] is the movie itself, not the trailer. Does anyone here remember the whole "Oh no! They've made Tarzan into an X-treme sk8ter boy!" brouhaha back in 1999? And all because the animators mentioned being inspired by surfers. 'Tarzan' wound up being a very emotional, dramatic movie. Perhaps 'Tangled' is more comedic... but I suspect the trailers are only half the story.

It isn't a fairy tale at all, but again, a botched attempt to attract males. Every guy I know won't be seeing it for what's been done. To quote retired Disney animator Floyd Norman: "The idea of changing the title of a classic like 'Rapunzel' to 'Tangled' is beyond stupid. I'm convinced they'll gain nothing from this except the public seeing Disney as desperately trying to find an audience." You're right, it would be funding future travesties. I certainly won't be wasting my money on it.

As far as the reviews are concerned, I could care less what others think. I'm like the only other person I know who likes Disney sequels, yet if I cared what others thought, I wouldn't. The marketing certainly isn't doing Disney any favors, and the storyline still seems a Dreamworks rip-off to me. Having a prince does NOT cause plot holes. There's no reason Disney couldn't have made him a swashbuckling roguish prince. He's nothing but a Naveen rip-off in this.

They don't have to include the pregnancy part, but the whole "prince becoming blind" isn't too mature for children.  I use to have a mail-order Rapunzel fairy-tale book and matching cassette tape Disney made years ago that included it, and that was for children. Yes, Disney changes fairy tales, but they still possess their core storylines in general. All the other classic fairy tale adaptations that have been done have kept their main characters they way they were.

@Terephiel I don't know what on earth you are talking about. I bought this 'How To Draw Tangled' book, the other day, which included how to draw the characters etc. but it also included the story! And i could not believe it.. The story is actually very romantic and very beautiful and magical. It is very traditional. I think that in the trailer, they keep on showing all the fighting parts, that shows the marketing towards boys! It really is a fairy tale! Im lookin forward 2 it more than P&Frog!

You're judging something based on the fact that the marketing music is upbeat. People who already saw this at advanced screenings confirmed it. THERE ISN'T ANY TRACE OF POP/MODERN MUSIC IN THE WHOLE MOVIE. If Disney wants to keep the music a surprise, then that's their decision.

I wouldn't go to a movie if I thought it was going to stink. One last thing: Disney's never gone for factual or truth on almost any movie, think Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid or Pocahontas, but they were still good stories.

Makes me wonder what, exactly, the MPAA has seen in this movie that bumps it up from G. 'The Lion King' is rated G, and Mufasa gets tossed to his death [by trampling, no less], Simba is endangered by a pack of stampeding Wildebeasts and it is very strongly implied that Scar is killed and possibly eaten by the Hyenas. Granted, that was in 1994. The MPAA has obviously changed its criteria.
