When running ATR's on a dynojet do they have to run them to the rev limiter?

As my pal's ATR was ran up on a dynojet to the limiter 3 times is this needed?

whys it matter? are you scared hittin the fuel cut is going to do something? you want to see when it stop making power, which is not far below the fuel cut.
