The whole concept of "hate crimes" is ridiculous. As I understand the law, motivation is suppose to be a mitigating factor in sentencing. If a child breaks a window or damages property, then yes, the parent should reimburse the owner for any repairs. The whole concept of "hate crimes" is ridiculous. As I understand the law, motivation is suppose to be a mitigating factor in sentencing. That being the case, and we are all suppose to have equal justice under the law, they make no sense. Especially when you look at crime stats that tell us black on white is the most common demographic behind black on black, yet black on white is very rarely labeled hate crime even when the facts of the casesuggest that it is under their definition.

And, to be clear, I do not think the transgender deserved an asswhipping. And I dont think you can hold parents accountable for all their childs actions, especially actions the child carried out under unusual circumstances. If a child breaks a window or damages property, then yes, the parent should reimburse the owner for any repairs. But, whipping someones ass over something some view as a moral issue, no, I dont think you can necessarily blame the parents.

Thinking back to the storys initial airing, someone stated the black girls had a problem with the transgender using the restroom at the same time. So, what if you went in there as a man, do you think they wouldve asked you to leave? Of course they would. And, unfortunately to some, many people do not view transgenders--or at least not convincing trangenders--as real women. To many, they are men--bottom line. I think it boils down to the transgender asserting her rights as a "woman."

Communication btwn black women and gay men is even easier. Black women love gay men. Where have you been? If they didnt, theyd limit their resources for maintaining their tracks. Conversely, a black transgender wouldve been more accommodating to the black womens request for him not to use the female restroom. If hes a black transgender, of course he wouldve found some kinship and solidarity with protecting a womans privacy. Most gay black men find more commonalities with women than men.

It is only ethical to not harm this man had he used a public restroom as long as he respected everyone's privacy and did not sexually assault anyone. A male-to-female transgender is legally female and can use a female restroom.
