  • Amazing. Could u imagine him as a cantor at Temple services? I just learned he was Jewish n I wonder if his relatives had such great voices; I know his brothers performed also, but his parents or grandparents? Judaism has that great vocal tradition so I suspect his love of music started early Thanks for posting this video! =^..^=

  • Inspirational! No wonder he is such a star, to be able to sing with such strength STILL at his age!

  • From Mingo to singer! What a class act. I do not believe there is a singer today that would even come in second

  • I saw Ed Ames in Man of La Mancha, Camelot, Shanendoah, over the years. He was a great actor and singer and perfect for these roles.

  • Amazing

  • What an amazing performer! It's a phrase used far too much these days, but they really DON'T make them like that anymore. What performer today could possibly hold a candle to talent like that?

  • This song has always been one of my favorites, & Ed Ames' performance gave me CHILLS!! WOW!! He still has it after all these years! Hope he'll be singing for many more years to come. Thanks so much for sharing

  • Fabulous. A testimony to taking care of ones self, staying busy and yes, a degree of good luck.

  • Ed Ames is a performer I would really love to meet. His talent and humility are unsurpassed. Please sing forever, Ed.

  • Ed Ames, always a great performer with a beautiful singing voice. Now in his 80's his voice is still magnificent, which can not be said for his others of his generation.

  • Brings tears to the eyes, he's so good...

  • My wife and I have loved Ed Ames since the late 1960s. I actually remember him and his brothers when they performed together in the early 1950s. We bought 2 or 3 Albums of his and I sttill have them. We were lucky to see him perform in Man of La Mancha at the Starlight Theater in K.C. years ago. He has one of the best, if not the best, version of The Impossible Dream. What a rich voice!!

  • his voice was so smooth and silky when he was young. but it's very surprising that his voice is still powerful and well preserved at his current age. toni bennet just try to "rap" through songs nowadays but ed sings the songs at the right pitch and tone. great singer

  • Great voice and performer. Thanks for posting video.

  • Wonderful video. I love Ed Ames and hope someday to see him in concert

  • Ed Ames still has the most incredible voice I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. This is one of the most excellent performances of his lifetime. He still has it 200%. Love the man and his music. Fan since 1967. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless.

  • Best voice around.

  • Thank you SO much. I have loved Ed Ames since I was a little girl. Just awesome.

  • truly a great singer and presence ...one of my favorite musicals and done by such a fantastic voice...no wonder he has been a favorite of mine since the 60s

  • Oh. My. Gosh. So moving. You can feel/hear the emotion in his voice. Masterful!

  • My hat off to the man, it was a masterful performance, I wish I will be this strong in 30 years time!

  • LOVE IT. Nice to know the pipes are still smooth. Thanks for posting this.

  • Amazing!

  • xcellent melody and a masterful interpretation.

  • An amazing performance! For a man nearly 82, it is miraculous. He sounds like a man in his forties. He has always been a class act to boot.

  • ZaftigWoman: Oh, so true!!!

  • He still can sing!!

  • In 1967 this song was the Sr. class song, Midland lee HS Midland Texas. Of the 430 sen;iors 25 died in the rice paddie of 'Nam. 225 of West Texas finest sons died. Guess we were trying to thr unrightable wrong right.

  • I think it's been Sr. class song for a lot of folks.

  • He still has class and a great voice. The "singers" of today could learn a lot from him, especially how to carry a note without doing the scales, so annoying..

  • What year this video? Very beautifil, very good

  • I loved Ed Ames when I was a small child and I still love him at 53.

    He will live forever.

  • I'm 36 and in my personal opinion Ed Ames is the best baritone ever outside the classical music. It's for me an honour to still have the pleasure to ear him in 2009. Technically he is superb and this interpretation is outstanding for a man of 81.

  • What a great Christmas present! Thanks so much for this video of a great singer. Such a singer at age 81! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • Mr. Ed Ames is a true gentleman. What a talented, talented man. Whether it be acting or singing, or musical theater, he never lets me down. He has a drama, an emotion when he sings. I agree with Inahlee, each note, each lyric comes from his heart. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • I love his style! Ed Ames is marvelous as whatever he puts himself into being. For a man of his years, I am deeply touched by his love of his career. Whatever he does, he puts his whole heart into it. Is there a way to get the original?
