I love these recordings. These are real gems- and I think these are great recital pieces. I did two of the Rachmaninoff songs arr. Kreisler on a recital and the audience, who had not heard them, adored them.
Thank you for sharing this. I would never have had the pleasure of hearing it if you hadn't. I just wish that I could understand the words better. If you have them, I wish that you would include them on a reply. Again, thank you so very much.
11lap11, Thank you for you kind words. I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Sadly i do have the lyrics nor could i find them on-line in a quick search. I will look some more so check back.
Gosden & Correll chose "Angel's Serenade" for the TV version of "THE AMOS 'N' ANDY SHOW" because it sounded similar to their original theme, "The Perfect Song", and they didn't have to pay royalties to the composers, Joseph Carl Breil and Clarence Lucas, for using it in those filmed episodes. George Burns didn't use "Love Nest" as his theme during the first two filmed seasons of "THE BURNS & ALLEN SHOW" for the same reason [he used Alexander Laszlo's stock cue, "Two-A-Day", instead].
Ipmoic, A quick internet search reveals that this was used as the second theme to Amos and Andy on the radio and the only theme used on their television program; at least according to one source. Good memory! Hope you enjoyed the recording. Regards, J.
This is a beautiful melody, full of nostalgia, tenderness and so peaceful. It brings you back a time when people were if not better human beings, at least they were cleaner, looked better and tried to be decent. Thank you for sharing a piece of beauty.
The music's great, I'll give you that; buthow can you say people were better? Racism was at all time high, the major (WWI/WWII/Korea) wars were centered around the date it came out.
As far as cleaner, it was only such because no whites (Anglo-saxxon) had to pay for their deeds, so it was never made public like it is today.
No1afriking, Thank you for the compliment. I think Politeama was talking about the expectations of the era as opposed to the reality. (And I think a lot of people dressed better! ;-) ) Regards, J.
Yes a very enjoyable performance. I just heard this for the first time the night we recorded it. It was in a large bulk lot I purchased. A lucky find. Regards, J.
Fuzzbear6240 ,Now I realize that nothing is perfect, yet at times some things come much closer than everything else, this is a perfect example,
many many thanks.

Beautiful.
Thank you so much. It will forever reminds me of my friend Stewart who used to sing it so beautifully until he died at the young age of 57.
Braga's serenade is truly a jewel amongst jewels.
