imo is that,if you playing and use the swivel technique, then axis is a lost money.if you playing and use heal-toe then axis is the best pedal for it.so imo again,i think you should try heal-toe instead of swivel :) also tell me what snare you have.
When I tried Axis I felt like the pedal was getting away from me control wise. They do take getting used to. I will probably test some out along with Tama speed cobra and make decision. Nice Playing.
"Triggers do not make you faster on the drums, but practicing double bass will.
A vocalist can sing a lot better if he can hear himself sing, and drummers can play a lot better if they can hear themselves.
but with metal you have so many sound sources competing with one another, regarding volume, that eventually when you get the kicks going faster, their sound just gets lost in the mix, Also, at certain speeds, it becomes hard for the drummer to determine were the actual hits are being played."
@joeydrummer19 just do basic rudiments you would normally do with your hands except try them with your feet. you won't necessarily use these rudiments while playing but they make your leg muscles stronger and more nimble, so single strokes will become a breeze. and practice for fucking hours!
is getting better pedals a good way to get faster? i play on nameless crap pedals that came with my e-kit (two different electric bassdrums with two electric pedals) and my max is around 145 when i try hard. i feel like this is about as fast as these guys can go, would getting better pedals (in the pearl eliminator/iron cobra range) help with this?
@allmetaliswelcome Well, I want to be careful answering a question like this, because getting new pedals won't make you any better! However, there are definitely situations where the pedals are inefficient and are actually holding you back. However, the difference will usually be something more like 10 bpm at the top of your range, or something. Even on the crappiest of pedals, I can blast at 200 easily ;) It sounds like you need to learn ankle motion, my friend!
@allmetaliswelcome Ankle motion it is ;) Check out what George kollias and Derek Roddy have to say about all of that, those are the guys I first learned from.
@LukeSnyderMusic i'll do mate. isn't it just learning to play the heel down motion with your heel off the ground (thats what i've seen some guys saying) cause i don't think it's that simple is it?
@allmetaliswelcome Basically, thats it. Its difficult to get used to, and it feels like you won't be able to control it when you start, but it eventually happens!
@DarknessDrawsCloser Actually yes! The Sonic hammers weigh like twice what the Pearl ones do... the pearl ones are made of plastic, and the sonic hammers are made of steel. They're just a lot heavier! It surprised me too, because the hammers look light.
@joeydrummer19 For sure, I have a ton of ideas for double bass lessons. I was just doing some left foot exercises today, actually. I'd like to share some!
@BurnThePope0514 The 5000s are great pedals though! You can't really go wrong with them, I was actually talking to the guy who designed them the other day.

Single-foot blasting isn't a big deal. People have been doing it for years and years. It's just the in thing right now.
Fuck mainstream.

@LukeSnyderMusic yea i wasn't nescssarily talking about going faster, but breaking limits, since they really don't go faster than 145...
but i guess it's ankle motion then... but that's so abstract to me :)

BurnThePope0514 4 months ago
@BurnThePope0514 I don't have the tension high on my Axis at all right now, I probably will wind up using a much higher tension though.
