  • I watched All My Children every summer as a child and teenager. I liked Phoebe and the Professor a lot! It was classy actors like Ruth Warrick, James Mitchell, Macdonald Carey, and others that made television so special then. Times have really changed, and I am so glad that I can relive these moments on YouTube. Thanks, Ms. Warrick, for standing up for civil rights as well. It is rare today that famous individuals publicly stand for something despite the risks to their careers.

  • my favorite Phoebe line was her telling Mona that Mona was the mir epitone of financial irresposibility..I still laugh at that...we'll never forget you

  • I met Ruth once and I could tell that just by the way she looked at me and spoke to me that she was in love with her fans and her life. She was lovely.

  • OMG, started watching this completely composed and by the end my eyes were full of tears. Everyone misses Phoebe! What can one say she was just Phoebe, INIMITATABLE Phoebe Tyler Wallingford; and who could forget Langley as well? His carney past with Myrtle & she holding his secrets. His affair with Opal and her shaking him down for cash to build the Glamorama. All My Children is practically in our blood. It will take a long time to get over the passing of an era so ingrained in our psyches.

  • I, my mother and my Army Sergeant father got hooked on AMC just after I got out of high school in '77. Those were definitely the golden days of AMC. That show was a hoot. (Remember Billy Clyde Tuggle and the first Opal?) My mom, sister and I drove down to a mall in Houston, TX to see Ruth and two other AMC actors making a personal appearance. She was incredibly beautiful (I have no idea of her age at the time). I'll never forget her or Myrtle Fargate (played by the late Eileen Hurley).

  • Thinking of Ruth Warrick during AMC's ABC finale today. Phoebe was the unofficial Queen Bee of Pine Valley, and she played her perfectly.

  • Thanks so very much for posting. What a lovely montage. I had the true honor of not only meeting this sensational woman of grace and talent - but interviewing her. A story in itself! She was the kindest, nicest most lovely person! One of my very favorite people to have ever interviewed. (And I've interviewed over 100). She was talent and elegance.

  • of course, she will ALWAYS be Mrs. Citizen Kane. widely hailed as "the best movie ever made".

  • This was just so beautiful. I could not stop crying SHE was a very elegant lady

  • And that,Folks, is what "Class" looks like.......She will be missed....

  • I never realized what an attractive woman Ruth was. She was always so "High horse" as Phoebe that she rarely showed her natural beauty.

  • Thanks for reminding me of the good old days on AMC. It is so nice to hear the org thime song. Boy how I do miss that song with the opening book. I have watched AMC for as long as it has been on, and I am still watching. But I do miss the good old days with Phoebe, Palmer and now Adam and all of the others that are now gone. Thank goodness we still have Erica and Tad the cad.

  • It is amazing to think that she is in one of the greatest movies ever, Citizen Cane with Orsen Welles. James Mitchell, Palmer Cortlandt, was another actor who I saw in a Fred Astaire movies as Cyd Charisse's boyfriend and dancer.

  • Amazing how beautiful she is to me now. I know that sounds funny, but it seems everyone looks alike, especially once they reach a certain age due to plastic surgery. Oh sure, she had to have had work done, but it didn't LOOK like it. My best friend lived 500 miles away when I had to move and everyday we watched AMC at the same time while on the phone and he would go on about Phoebe so. He named his TOTO type dog after her since he loved her so much!

  • @SHADOWBOXERBAYBEE Its true. Look at what Erica's done to herself. I miss phoebe.. She is back in my younger days. I remember the storylines. AWESOME...

  • How beautiful! I still watch AMC, but you are all right - it is NOTHING like it was in the good old days.

  • A wonderful montage. Phoebe was AMC.

Her interactions with every other character left an indelible mark in soap history. That dreadful Kane woman, the adjectives she used on Donna(strumpet, trollop), Kitty/Kelly, Myrtle. All her scenes were great.

  • nice tribute...from a former soap opera addict..the music is lovely,it also kinda sounds almost like The Friendly Giant...luved that show too...when i was a kid ofcourse..

  • wonderful tribute.

  • This is the old theme from AMC. These clips were from the good old days. AMC is nothing like this anymore. :-(

  • I totally agree with you... it has become lame and , one of the reasons I stopped watching several years ago.

  • What a lady... She's so missed. A gorgeous arrangement of the theme, too.

  • Great music video. Pheobe was one of my favorite characters on All My Children.

  • I miss Aunt Phoebe

  • What a fabulous tribute to the grand dame of AMC!! I had been watching AMC since I was 8 (now 40) and as much as Phoebe used to exasperate me and drive me nuts with her uppity attitude, I figgin' loved her character. I loved her relationship with Wallingford, with Benny, her snipes with Erica and most of with niece Brooke.. Ahh.. the golden days of AMC.. I was saddened at RW's passing and I have truly fond memories of her and her character, Phoebe. May she RIP always and know that we miss her!

  • Yes and let us not forget her rivalry with "That Mona Kane woman".

  • A truly GRAND woman.

  • When I first saw them kiss, Langly and phoebe it looked so weird in a weird kind of way.

  • She was in the Movie Classic "rosebud"...was the first word in it. ...ok what was the name of the movie ? wish our brains were like hard drives and i could just do a search for the answer!

  • The name of the movie was Citizen Kane

  • Thank you Peter ! Give that man a cigar.

  • thank you for the vid. the music fits so much

  • Cute! Always loved Phoebe!

  • I was down in Orlando Fl when she passed away. My mom sent me a newspaper clipping on it. Right before I went down to Fl I saw one episode that she was in and that was the last one that I saw her alive in. Ruth will be missed greatly. Keep the show going up there Ruth.

  • Ruth Warrick was the epitome of ALL My Children. She made Phoebe both tolerable at times when you didn't agree with her and loveable as she was doing what she thought best for her family.

My grandmother had the honor of knowing her and she was a beautiful person inside and out.

You will be forever in our hearts Ruth.

RIP Phoebe, AMC is not the same without her.

  • rip you r so miss

  • just beautiful... i so miss the way it was.

  • I miss phoebe I'm only 28 I never got to see amc when she was in front burner s/l's but I can tell whenever I did see her in scenes that I missed out big time damn what a classy dame and one hell of an actress

  • *sigh*

Beautiful lady and talented actress. She was one of a kind.

  • Absolutely moving. She was a class act, and she is oh so missed! RIP Ruth Warrick and RIP Phoebe English Tyler Wallingford.

  • OMG - you have just made a grown man cry....

  • What a beautiful tribute to one of my favorite characters from AMC... she was a great actress and had a lot of class. I wish there were more like her now days.

  • Perfect and wonderful. She was a Kansas City, Missouri area native and a genius. She will always have a place of pride in the Heartland.

  • Beautiful tribute! Made me want to see clips from some of the older shows. They sure were a LOT more interesting than the "kiddie-bopper" storylines they come up with now. It's like they write these shows now to cater to a 13-18 age group!

  • Ruth Warwick was truly a class act on All My Children. She is truly missed.

  • i miss the old actors and actresses of all my children their the once who made the show besides Adam and Erica now their the once you makes the show today

  • Great video. It was nice hearing the original theme. Today's soaps don't have character-driven stories. That's why they suck.

  • Great Video. Phoebe was a great character and I miss the good old days of the show

  • Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful Video.

  • What an actress!!! I grew up watching All My Children and always loved it when Phoebe was on!!! Phoebe and the the old AMC were like family. I cried watching this lovely tribute!!!

  • This is a beautiful tribute!

    Thank you!

    Donna

  • Phoebe used to make me so mad, but I loved her so much. She could be a real witch, but youstill loved her no matter what. Thank you, Ms Ruth Warrick for playing that part so well, you made it you own.

    Love,

    MARK

  • This is a beautiful and loving tribute. I just wish it could have been longer. I have watched OLTL since the beginning and have loved Ruth forever. Thank you for your tribute to One Classy Dame.

  • she was on amc not oltl

  • Simply Beautifull!!

I cried at her on-screen funeral, and still miss her.

Thank You for honering her memory in such a loving way. Se will always be missed.

  • thanks so much for this...she has been part of my life since I was 11 and I watched her on "As the World Turns" to "Pyeton Place" then to "All My Children".

She was one of a kind!

  • i still missed you Ruth.

  • that was so beautiful!! She will be truly missed

  • I loved Ruth Warrick. Growing up, she was so much the essence of AMC. You did a beautiful job in honoring her memory!

  • Very nice!! I started watch AMC when I was ten in 1982 and watched it for nearly a decade. I was so sad when Ruth Warrick passed away.

  • beautifully done!
